Well, from the sounds of the side Nathan was at home by the pool - probably contemplating his lot in life and wallowing a bit. As depressing as it is to see him distancing himself from everybody, I really think it will be just in the earlier episodes to emphasize how different he is from the guy we're all used to and how different he will be once he finally recovers. At some point there is going to be some kind of a climax to this storyline - whether it be from Haley finally feeling enough is enough and getting angry or from Nathan coming to a realisation on his own or through some kind of event where he may risk really losing everything - meaning Haley and Jamie. Things have to be pretty bad before they get better because in some ways that makes the resolution that much better - of course this is resting on the slim hope that the storyline will actually be dealt with properly.

In regard to Jamie, I can't not like him at this stage. Jackson is adorable and his sides so far haven't annoyed me - we'll see how it translates on screen of course! However, I'm really not interested in seeing him interact with everyone other than his parents - Lucas in small doses I don't mind but Brooke annoys the heck out of me so obviously I'm not keen on seeing her interact with him.

I just hope there is some kind of N/H/J interaction that has not been released in sides so far. Oh and is it possible that the scene of Nathan playing basketball with Jamie while Haley watches is a flashback?

Yeah, maybe having Haley to threaten leaving him and taking Jamie with her will wake him up or something.

no problem. Gosh, I know! It's pretty filled up, and it's only 5.01 and bits of 5.02 that we have in the opening. I can only imagine how it'll look by the end of this break. Scary, I bet!

Of course not, short hair is sexy on lots of people. I really don't think I said anything offensive, I just said I'm partial to her long hair. Heck, I'm partial to my own hair when it's longer and I've had both, as we all probably have. Really, I don't think what I said was any big deal. I'm sure Joy will look gorgeous, she always does, I was just expressing an opinion. I am not being overly critical of her. I am a big Joy fan and I really don't know where all this came from.

.....eta.....after all the crude comments you made about James hair ( dead animal and all that) I find it puzzling you would find my post overly critical. You said Nathan to you, does not have long hair, well, that's exactly what I'm saying about Haley. Haley, to me, has always had long hair, so it will take some getting used to. But trust me, I'm not going to lose any sleep over any of their hairstyles.

So another side where N & H are distant. I can't say I didn't expect it, but it doesn't make it any less BLAH. So it really seems that they have Haley and James leaning heavily on others. It's good that they have that support network, but I can't help but wish it wasn't needed in the first place. I'm just really wondering where they are going to take this SL. There are only so many ways to go without creating unrepairable damage to these characters.

I just, I'm wary of how they are going to handle NH's relationship during this time. Are they going to let them hit rock bottom before they begin to slowly rebuild? Or are they going to be distant one day and than the next, everything solved by an "always and forever?"

And you know, I was so sure they weren't going to seperate them, not even for a short period, but doubts are creeping up. I'm not talking about a break-up/divorce, but I'm starting to wonder if perhaps a seperation will occur somewhere in there. A lot of shows seems to like to do the cliche of having the significant other leave so the character who is a bit funky will snap out of it. And I wouldn't put it pass our writers to want to do something like that, especially since we all know how they like their cliche. I wouldn't really have a huge problem with it if I trusted it to be handled correctly, but I don't have that trust. Not when we've been burned before.

I'm getting kind of nervous of where this storyline could lead.

Kristi, you're already judging Joy's hair when you haven't seen it. James' hair was so long, it was distracting to his performance. That's the difference. So, don't try to make me feel guilty. It's not going to work.

so all theses sides have nearly no NH interaction whatsoever. I think the SL could be good, i mean nathan is gonna be devasted isn't he but i really hope we see them rebuilding their relationship pretty quickly into the season. I don't think i could deal with emo nathan for very long, plus i wanna see the N/H/J interaction. By the looks of it, it's not only haley and jamie he's distancing himself from, but everybody. I could see it being played out, how Nathan sees himself as a burden on his family, and how he can't be the dad he wanted to be. If they do this right, it could be awesome, if they start being silly again, by throwing random stuff in (aka, STD, skanks and poser boys) than it would be a disaster. Hopfully it will work out and season 5 will be amazing

I'm all for flashbacks, definitely and I sincerely hope they will give us a lot of them but since we haven't exactly seen any big NH interaction in the sides we have, I am doubting the flashbacks too. I bet it's going to be all about Nathan being emo and Haley being pushed aside, resulting in no NH screen time. Yay.

Definitely not in the minority in that. hehe. I'd be in favor of that, too. I'm hoping we'll at least get some substantial scenes with the three of them during college. With how much we missed during the pregnancy, it'd be nice if we were able to watch some things that happened after the baby was born.

I wish for flashbacks of both Nathan/Haley with their baby son during college. I would love that, especially that in the present time James is having scenes with everyone but his Father and few scenes with his Mother, and his own parents aren't even interacting with eachother so far, that sucks big time.
I hope that arc won't last for more than 2-4 episodes and less will be better and for once, i hope they handle it good and not to screw with the characters/couple.

I know Mark lies a lot, but I thought I would mention this anyways. In his TV Guide interview last season, he stated that he might dedicate entire episodes to the college years. I'll see if I can find the quote.

I really, really love kids in my personal life, but I just am not fond of them on television. It will be really weird to see so many scenes with a 4/5 year old as the focus. While I truly believe that the sides will be cut considerably, it still seems like Jamie is getting more attention than Haley. (ironic considering that Embryo/Fetus Jamie was ignored completely)
