Episode Titles (Thanks to Susan)

3.01 Like You Like An Arsonist (by Paris Texas)
Wednesday, October 05, 2005 Season Premiere Rating TV-14
8:00 - 9:00 PM ET
WILL DAN SURVIVE THE FIRE? - Lucas (Chad Michael Murray) awaits Brooke's (Sophia Bush) return to Tree Hill after a summer spent with Peyton (Hilarie Burton.) Peyton investigates the mysterious woman who claims to be her mother while Nathan (James Lafferty) must deal with Haley's (Bethany Joy Lenz) reappearance at the same time as the fire at Scott Motors. Dan's (Paul Johansson) fate after the fire is revealed (Note to WB: Do you think we're really that stupid?). Barbara Alyn Woods, Barry Corbin and Moira Kelly, Craig Sheffer also star. Greg Prange directed the episode written by Mark Schwahn.

Alternate TV Guide description episode 3.01
In the third-season premiere, Peyton learns the truth about her mother, and Dan's fate is revealed. Meanwhile, Brooke and Lucas agree to have a nonexclusive relationship, and Haley misses Nathan, who's at basketball camp.

-- The truth really hurts in the third season opener as Nathan tells Haley he can no longer trust her and Peyton gets rocked by surprising news about her mother

More 3.01 info:
Brooke/Peyton are both concerned about Haley and they have a discussion about her right before Haley comes to the apartment.

(8:00 - 9:00 pm ET)
BROOKE TESTS LUCAS WITH HER NEW RULES FOR DATING — Brooke (Sophia Bush) organizes an "End of Summer Beach Party," but soon finds she's the only one in a party mood. Meanwhile, Lucas struggles with Brooke's new rules for dating, Peyton (Hilarie Burton) tries to come to terms with the new truths about her family, and Dan (Paul Johansson) remembers what happened the night of the fire at his dealership. Barbara Alyn Woods, Barry Corbin, and Moira Kelly also star. Mark Schwahn wrote the episode directed by Kevin Dowling

Alternate TV Guide description episode 3.02
The gang celebrates the beginning of senior year with an end of the summer beach party. Also, Larry warns Ellie to stay away from his daughter after she stuns Peyton with more surprising news. Nathan comes home from basketball camp but doesn't tell Haley.

Haley goes to the costume party as leather clad Sandy from Grease; Nathan goes to the costume party as Batman; Peyton yells at Haley for disappearing and not calling Nathan; Haley looks for Nathan; Nathan saves Haley when she drops a tray of glasses - they look at each other like they are in love. (Nathan swoops in and picks her up.)

3.05 A Mulititude of Casualties (by The Hold Steady)
Tyler Hilton returns at Chris Keller to cause some more drama in Nathan and Haley's relationship.
And could Dan Scott become the most powerful man in Tree Hill?

3.06 Locked Hearts and Hand Grenades (by Plan A Project)

3.07 Champagne For My Real Friends, Real Pain For My Sham Friends (by Fall Out Boy)

S3 description from WB.com:

Quote:
One Tree Hill
Returning Series
Hour Drama
Wednesdays 8/7c

After a remarkable sophomore season, the One Tree Hill phenomenon continues living up to its rep as "one of the fastest growing shows on television."

In the upcoming season, this multi-generational drama finds half brothers, Nathan and Lucas Scott uncovering even more scandalous secrets about their family and friends. The lustful passion of Lucas and Brooke (real life couple Chad Michael Murray & Sophia Bush) remains unspoken, but is it ready to ignite at any moment? Will Nathan (James Lafferty) and Haley (Bethany Joy Lenz) find themselves together again amidst a volatile first year of marriage? Will Peyton (Hilarie Burton) find out the truth about her parents?

The responsible adults of Tree Hill are finding their lives even more tumultuous, and the ultimate question will finally be answered: Who burned Dan Scott? Is the maniacal father of Lucas and Nathan dead or alive? It seems the tangled web of Tree Hill winds tighter every season
.

Season Opener
One Tree Hill
The truth really hurts in the third-season opener as Nathan tells Haley he can no longer trust her and Peyton gets rocked by surprising news about her mother.

From the Ask Ausiello column:
Quote:
Question: I am so sick of you only putting spoilers on for shows like 24, Alias, Lost and Veronica Mars. Why don't you put one in about One Tree Hill for once. — Janel

Ausiello: You One Tree Hillbillies finally wore me down to the point where I did the unthinkable: I invited Damian Holbrook — TV Guide's resident Tree trollop — to steal my thunder make a cameo in this week's AA. All together now: "Hello, Damian." OK, enough with the introductions; give us the dirt, Holbrook. "[Series creator] Mark Schwan told me that Brooke is going to create a clothing line and he hopes to film an episode during the Winter Fashion Week. Also, basketball will become a focus again and we should expect a Christmas episode. He's excited because the beginning of senior year is the first time they've followed stories in current time; the first two seasons were the first and second halves of their junior year, so now he can do a holiday episode. He would love to bring back Bryan Greenberg, who played Jake, but is waiting to see what his schedule is like. They're good friends…." I think that'll do it, Damian. This is a cameo, not a full-fledged guest spot. Thanks for playing. You're welcome back anytime I'm desperate for scoop on a show I don't watch.

Fanbolt :

Per casting sides. "Regina" and "Faith" an African American mother and daughter who are relocating to TH and "Rachel" a new cheerleader (troublesome) that is clashing with Brooke and eyeing Lucas (and possible thinking that Nathan is an option ).....Nathan is referred to as being married in one of the sides (as long as he is co-captain of the basketball team)....

Tyler Hilton:
Quote:
"Chris Keller has this CD out called Keller Instinct and they had it on set with all the song titles on back. Hysterical! If I find it again I'll post the song titles."
Quote:
"Finally filmed again yesterday after, like, two weeks of just reading and playing and hanging. I truly believe these are the best episodes I've got to shoot. They're funny, clever, sad...just better."
Per E! Online Kristin:
A interview with show creator/executive producer Mark Schwahn
Pertinent to NH:
Quote:
Q: Is there hope for Nathan and Haley, or will he move on?

M.S.: When I pitched this show to Fox, those knuckleheads blinked at me and said "Where's the hope?" And I replied, "This show is full of hope." And it is. Nathan and Haley are entering their Senior year as a married couple. That's unchartered water littered with fear and heartache and weakness and desire. But is there hope? Of course there is. Love is an intense strain of hope.

Q: As a writer/producer is it difficult to write storylines about romantic relationships, given that the audience won't always agree with how things end up? Especially with Nathan and Haley, and the love triangle between Lucas, Brooke and Peyton?

M.S.: I've said this before, even when the audience is upset with choices I make, I appreciate their point of view because it means they actually CARE about the characters and their journey. The day they all agree is the day I've lost them. Because at that point, the journey becomes irrelevant. That doesn't mean it's not tough to receive criticism of something you care about. But the fans are invested in Nathan and Haley and that's wonderful because I designed it to be cared about. I've spent two season doing Q & A sessions online (at thewb.com and fanforum.com). I think people were surprised that I took the time to do it, but I was extremely honored that people had carved a place in their lives for my show. I remain honored. Personally, I think Season Three is going to be powerful, risky, lush, relevant and yes, hopeful television. I'm 55 episodes into a show that most critics pronounced dead on arrival. And yes, success really is it's best revenge. But every day they let me do it is a good day. I take none of it for granted. Please thank the fans for watching. It means more than they know. And thanks to you for your interest. Here's to episode 56 and beyond...
Per Inside TV Magazine:
(via Jen )
Quote:
Not so happy newlyweds Nathan and Haley are in a similar back and forth pattern. They both clearly still love each other but there are a lot of obstacles standing in the way of their relationship. For starters when Haley comes back to town after touring with fellow musician and lust object Chris Keller, Chris comes back too which puts a wrench in Nathan’s plan to patch things up. Soon Haley and Nathan question whether Nathan’s parents were right- maybe they are too young to be tied down. “Fans really want the two of them to be together” says Mark. “I do too. But im not making any promises! You’ll have to stay tuned” Oh we will
Per Posters:

There are supposed to be a ton of NH scenes in 3.01

An extra reports that Nathan goes to High Flyers. He receives a letter, but we do not know who it is from.

Um...I didn't contradict myself in my post. You said that if we honestly expected them to say together for the rest of the show and I responded about how when you get married, it's until death do us part. So...if they're married...then yes, I do think they should fight to stay together.

I'm sure it's not really fair to compare fiction and reality, but in light of recent events with C/S splitting after 5 months and the way they split up N/H last season after just a few months of marriage, what kind of example does that set for young people watching the show? I know C/S cannot live their life to suit the fans, but it is these kinds of unfortunate circumstances in real life and on screen that could basically destroy the hopes and dreams of young impressionable viewers that marriage won't last. It's pretty sad, really.

I never thought of it that way, Kristi. You're so insightful! But yes, I agree, it certainly isn't a good notion to convey to those "14 year old viewers" that were crying all of last season. What are they going to do this season?

Only a few more days...

I really starting to believe that with all the talking around stuff...Mark has no intention of putting Nathan and Haley back together. I'm not trying to be pessimistic or anything...I just really think that's what's going on here.

I already said I wasn't going to watch Season 2 over again and I'm sticking to that. There are too many other great shows out there where the writers don't insult the fans' intelligence.

I hear you loud and clear, Susan. I'm in that apprehensive/paranoid boat as well, but I feel like I have invested so much into N/H. That's what is so painful. I don't want to watch S2 over again, but I think I'm going to at least give the season premiere a try. Granted, I know they won't be reunited in one episode, but I just don't want to give up on them. And I know everyone says they have other shows to watch, as do I, but it just isn't the same. I don't think I've ever watched a relationship that was as compelling as this one is. I know Mark took N/H down the wrong track in S2, but they haven't completely veered off track yet like so many other couples that I have invested my time in. They have a chance to get it right and I guess I'm a sucker for that, but I want to watch as long as it holds my interest. And at this point it does. If I get any indication from the premiere that they won't, then I'll cut the ties because I don't want it to drag on like it did during S2.

ETA: I've watched a lot of tv. Most of it was crap and no where near "critical acclaim." But at the same time, when I did watch these shows, I watched for too long after couples and relationships were shot to death, the point of almost no return, and yet I still watched. I've learned my lesson and I won't be doing that with OTH. As lame as it might sound, I have better things to do (aka study for once, find an internship, devote more time for my clubs, etc *I'm a nerd*).

OK now that post didn't calm me down Susan more like depress.LOL I am still hanging on to hope that Mark is just talking around crap not to give his precious sls away. I do think he will put us to the brink again thinking they aren't going to make it than surprise us after some cliffhanger with them fully reuniting or something. I don't see him making this a quick reunion at all. I truly believe Mark just loves double talk and I just can't see him divorcing/annulling Naley unless he just wants to continue show suicide. He obviously knows what we want hell he even wants them back together so I don't see him breaking them up completely. I will not take them divorcing then back to dating that crap just won't work. He said he didn't have them get married to get divorced and things aren't always as they seem so I am still holding out hope. Them being married puts them on whole other level and is such a diff angle than other typical shows which is why we fell so hard for this couple. I just don't see Mark abanding this marriage storyline. Now if Mark decided to crush all my hopes and prove my statements wrong I will be at Best Buy next day getting a new TV, since my other one probably won't make it after my tirade.

Oh Name Twin...I know what you mean...but I just don't get good vibes from poser boy returning, because it seems to me like it's gonna be the same old story all over again. Haley doesn't think she's doing anything wrong by hanging with Chris and stupidly jeopordizes her relationship with Nathan once again. Meanwhile, we get round 567 of "Woe is Me" by Nathan Scott. No, thank you.

If I trusted the writing and trust Mark...I'd stick around for everything...Lord knows I did it on Buffy...but I don't trust Mark...AT ALL. And with his comments...I feel like he's leading us on again just so people will watch before finally just slaughtering us again...like leading pigs to slaughter...that's how I feel. I think he's just building us up...to knock us down again...and I don't know if I'll ever shake that feeling.

I know N/H won't fix things in one episode...in fact, none of their scenes in the premiere are even in real time...so... And then we have poser boy back in 306 already...so...it's not looking up. The best I can hope for is that Chris gets hit by a tour bus.

ETA: I'm sorry I'm depressing you...but I really don't think Mark is telling the truth because anyone who is a fan of N/H would never do what he did so mercilessly and then call us "untrue fans" when we got upset about it.

Gosh! Everything about S3 is so freaking depressing. None of it makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. *sigh* And on the general spoiler thread, most of those posters (shippers of L/P and B/L) aren't happy with the direction of the show either. I never thought I would witness the day when all ships were upset at the show and the spoilers coming out.

All I can say is that Mark needs to get his act together. Seeing as how he and his writing staff are already blocking out episode 316, that does make me worry because he hasn't gotten any fan reaction to the first 15 episodes of the season that have been written. I don't know.

As for Chris and Haley and Nathan. BLAH! That's the thing. When I first heard he was coming back, it was like "oh great" back to screw with N/H. I just can't understand why Mark can't leave it alone. I know he loves Tyler, but can't he veer him off into another storyline? Screwing things up for N/H. Been there. Done that. Move. On. Please.

^^ NO worries Susan you lifted me up again with picturing Chris being hit with bus. I do think Chris will piss of Nathan initially but I hope Haley can redeem herself (as we have heard she will be doing) with him being there proving to Nathan how committed she is to him now. I also think poser boy has other storylines let's say with mamma and pappa Scott. Wouldn't it just kill Nathan after lettting his mom back in his life finding out she had something to do with Chris. After watching that extra DVD scene with Dan and Deb laughing and celebrating over their own child fighting with his wife they just repulse me even more and I never put anything past Dan. Atleast put poserboy with Pey or something since she's hanging out with new crowd I don't really give a crap as long as he is no longer a looming cloud over Naley. However seeing his ugly white patten leather shoes stickin out from under a bus is my dream vision.

ITA. That's another thing. What in the heck is going to happen to Haley and music? She's going to suddenly wake up one day and realize it's no longer her dream? Like how she woke up one day during S2 and realized it was her dream? As silly as the storyline is, I don't want her to give something up that she's passionate about to make amends with Nathan. Granted, if she realizes, it's not her dream, then by all means, get rid of the music storyline. I just don't know how that's going to play out. Like most of this crap.

*SIGH* The plant theory...now, that would be both smart and ironic. That's why Mark will never do it.
