I just don't think Mark is ever very subtle, he wasn't subtle in Season 3 with BL and he's not being now with LP. Which means no can really plan what that man is going to do.

As far as the carriage ride, I understand what you're saying. However- he was with Brooke during it so now anything that is say like it will take me back to that scene. I think that that is our way of getting flashbacks. Just like in 513 when Lucas said "one of these days you're gonna realize... " immediately took me back to the "I'm the guy for you." I didn't need to see the beach the way we need to see the confetti everytime theres a blatant sign for LP.

But to be very clear- I wasn't talking about what he says that reminds me of the carriage driver. I was talking about what he says in between that and "looks like you made the right choice". There are a couple of words in there that have only ever been associated with BL.

As far as BL in S3.. I always thought we were the quieter love. And I do think that it was more subtle than LP has ever been., I know as an unspoilt fan I didn't think that we were ever going to be together.. so

But I agree that no one can plan what he's gonna do. He has a story to tell.. and no one and nothing is getting in his way. I just happen to have faith in that story,.

i actually thought BL was the less subtle relationship...they had an obvious buildup in seasons 2 and 3...I thought it was clear that they would get together in s3. with LP, it's never been obvious that they would get together (it wasn't obvious at the beginning of s4, or in season 5)...just my opinion. but whether or not people think BL is subtle, it doesn't take away from the beauty of the BL relationship

As a former unspoilt fan, I do feel that BL was always the more subtle between the two because I always felt as if it was unexpected. S1 wise, probably not, as I think it was obvious that both BL & LP were going to get their chance, but I think from S2 onward, it was rather startling, because I fully expected Luke to go to Peyton instead of Brooke.

I also want to say that as a BL fan, I think we all knew that somewhere along the line, LP was going to be rediscovered because there hadn't been any form of resolution to what had happened in S1. It hadn't been explored, and I always felt that if BL were endgame which I fully believe they are, the feelings that LP had for one another needed to be faced head on, which, over the course of the last couple of seasons, they have been, and I think that we will get to experience closure to that in S6.

I wanted to touch this. And then I realized that anything I say will be considered bashing. So I'm just going to say that yes we got the buildup and yes we were obvious while we were together (isn't any couple

) But when we aren't together there are still many subtle hints that point to us.

LP just come out of nowhere. No build up. No nothing. And then it's completely rushed. And over before it starts the majority of the time.

And somehow people still thing that BL are the contrived ones? Makes no sense to me.

Hopefully that wasn't bashing.

When I talk about subtlety I'm talking about the way things are said. The signs. The way things are shot. The way they are edited.

It's hard to explain. But we're in a triangle and never going to see eye to eye on this. I don't know why we even try.

LP have never been subtle. They came together by breaking someones heart... twice. BL took their time to fall in love. And unlike LP, everyone else in Tree Hill wasn't pushing them together and telling them they are meant to be and so on.

Ditto. And you don't see much of that now-a-days. People are hooking up and "falling in love" over night on most shows.

BL does have great buildup, and I'm expecting it again this season. I won't mind them getting back together in the final episode as long as we get some killer build up.

When we say BL were subtle, we mean that the way they've changed one another for the better, the way they've saved each other, the lengths they've gone to make each other happy, their falling in love--their entire relationship is built by almost undetectable little signs that come together and create a solid foundation. In s1, we had BL get together purely out of fun, and then we saw it become something real, and we saw that both characters were invested in the relationship--Brooke seemingly more than Lucas. But then, in s2, we see Lucas realizing that there was something he valued in their relationship. That the circumstances that occurred earlier that year to drive them apart blinded him to the happiness he shared with Brooke and that it took his losing her, trying out with Peyton, and then leaving and coming back to realize it. Don't LPers always say that true love's path was never smooth? I always thought Lucas realizing his feelings for Brooke in s2 pretty much fit that quote perfectly. Yes, there were major bumps on the road, but he found his way to where he wanted to be.

With L/P on the other hand, it was right off the bat googily-eyes mixed in with stalkerish attitudes. They had every. single. person. in tree hill practically draw a banner for them across the screen. In s2? there was nothing. No subtle hints, not obvious hints--nothing. S3, again it was basically shoved in our face with how often Lucas saved Peyton from whatever sob-story she got herself into at the time. And I wont even start on s4, since I highly doubt that L/Pers deny that they were literally shoved in our faces. BL never had that. Even when they were together they had problems, yes, but they always fought through them and stood by each other. That's what we mean when we talk about BL being subtle.

I loved the line that I bolded because it's so true and it really does define the difference between what we see on screen with BL and LP. Sure we had declarations of love from Lucas and maybe their relationship wasn't subtle, but at least all these little signs came from Brooke and Lucas themselves and not from everyone whispering in their ears that they were meant to be. We didn't need flashbacks, pushing from the entire town of Tree Hill or anything else that is associated with LP. All we needed was the smile on Luke's face every time Brooke was around. The expressions on their faces, whether it was heartbreak because the other was sad or absolute love when the other was happy.

And I don't mean this as bashing, just a statement based on someone else's comment.
