Rachel Bilson leads a stellar ensemble cast in this fish-out-of-water comedic drama about small-town living, big city attitudes and complicated love triangles. It’s been nearly two years since Dr. Zoe Hart (Rachel Bilson) moved to BlueBell, Alabama, and shook up life in this small town. Now Zoe navigates between bad boy Wade Kinsella (Wilson Bethel) and good hearted George Tucker (Scott Porter), while Lemon Breeland (Jaime King) achieves her dream of being a business owner – even if that business is The Rammer Jammer, and her mismatched partner is Wade. Zoe’s best friend and landlord, Mayor Lavon Hayes (Cress Williams), has finally gotten over Lemon, finding happiness with AnnaBeth (Kaitlyn Black), complicated by the fact that she is Lemon's best friend. And Zoe’s associate, Dr. Brick Breeland (Tim Matheson), pursues love, but his daughters won't endorse his new fiancée. Zoe’s love life is still a mess, and she’s not sure what the future holds in store for her, but we know it will be juicy and full of fun.
3.02 - Friends in Low Places - directed by Elodie Keene, written by Sheila Lawrence | Airdate: 10/14/13
SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY — Trying to be hospitable to Joel (guest star Josh Cooke), who is visiting BlueBell, Lavon (Cress Williams) and AnnaBeth (Kaitlyn Black) invite him and Zoe (Rachel Bilson) over for a quiet dinner, but when Lemon (Jaime King) meets Alabama’s most eligible bachelor, Carter Covington (guest star Ryan McPartlin, “Chuck”), she invites herself along with Carter to the soiree. However, when some unexpected guests show up to the party, Lemon’s ruse with Wade (Wilson Bethel) risks being exposed. Meanwhile, George (Scott Porter) makes a bad decision involving Lynly (guest star Antoinette Robertson, “Zero Hour”), which could ultimately ruin his friendship with Lavon. Tim Matheson also stars. GETTING BACK IN THE GAME — INDIE FOLK BAND “THE HEAD AND THE HEART” PERFORM – Trying to avoid a confrontation with Brick (Tim Matheson), Zoe (Rachel Bilson) begins discreetly seeing patients in BlueBell again. But her plan goes awry when George (Scott Porter) informs her she has a non-compete clause in her contract that prevents her from practicing for a year in the town. Lavon (Cress Williams) is thrilled at the chance to bring a minor league baseball team to BlueBell, but needs Brick’s help to woo the team’s owner. Elsewhere, Lemon (Jaime King) finds herself in hot water with the Belles after she tries to overthrow the current leader. Meanwhile, George finds himself needing medical attention during a tutoring session with Lynly (guest star Antoinette Robertson), forcing him to call Zoe for help. [source]

TAKING ONE FOR THE TEAM — After Lemon’s (Jaime King) fallout with the Belles, she is blacklisted from the Junior League Halloween Masquerade party, so she calls her Grandma Bettie (guest star Maree Cheatham, “Days of Our Lives”) for help and lands herself a date with another of Alabama’s most eligible bachelors. Lavon (Cress Williams) has a big surprise for his anniversary with AnnaBeth (Kaitlyn Black), but when she has a health scare, she turns to Zoe (Rachel Bilson) to help her out. Meanwhile, during the party, George (Scott Porter) has to do damage control with the town judges and Wade (Wilson Bethel) keeps finding himself in trouble with ineligible ladies. General Spoilers:
Well, the thing is – even Gerstein isn’t entirely sure. The season is in the very early stages, and everything could be changing. But for right now, this is how she sees Wade, ”I don’t think that Wade waited around all summer and didn’t have sex with anyone else. I don’t think we’d want to see that Wade. He’s still Wade, but he has a business and he’s certainly changed. I don’t want to take him all the way back to before. But I think the culmination of that responsibility and the ability to say ‘I love you’ knowing that he might not hear it back is a big deal. We can’t take that away from his character.”...And I feel like she felt that Wade and Zoe are by no means over, so keep on keepin’ on, Zade fans. What about George Tucker (Scott Porter)? Well as of right now the story is, “When we come back in episode one, George has quit the tour and he is missing. No one has seen him in months.” ...”It’s hard for me to talk about that without ruining it. Where we start season 3 will be… a little unexpected.” That’s all I got out of her as far as Zoe goes! ...One thing they won’t have: a pregnant Lemon (Jaime King). King is pregnant in real life, but they are going to hide it. [source]
The W/Z/G love triangle is being laid to rest. Season 3 will be about expanding their community. New love interests will be introduced for almost everyone. New love triangles will form. [source]
On AnnaBeth - "And, at this point, she has become so integral to the series — as Lemon’s best friend, as Lavon’s girlfriend, and as Zoe’s confidante — that we needed to make sure she was all ours! And she may start her own jam business." [source]
On George - George is a mess in the season premiere partly because he has been away from BlueBell for so long. He and Lemon will have a close friendship where they help each other out. There won't be a rekindling of their romance. George is still very upset with Zoe. The show is going to refocus George a bit. And there won't be any singing. [source]
Lyla: Hart of Dixie scoop please!
A new Breeland woman is coming to Bluebell: Grandma Bettie! Lemon's grandmother comes to town to help her granddaughter preserve the Breeland name. A pillar of the Southern Belle community, Bettie is strong, upscale and take-charge. Hm…we wonder where Lemon gets her personality from?! [source]
On Wade - Wade is in a good place when season 3 starts. He is single and running the Rammer Jammer with Lemon. He isn't shirtless at all for the first 3 episodes. He isn't romantically involved with anyone when the show opens. He is just doing his Wade thing. [source]
Question: Now that Laura Bell Bundy is on Anger Management, what will this mean for her role as Shelby on Hart of Dixie? —Vanessa
Ausiello: It means you’ll probably see her less. But rest assured you will see her. “We are definitely having Laura back for a few [episodes],” confirms EP Leila Gerstein, adding that Shelby won’t resurface “until a few episodes in.” In other Bluebell casting news, although Claudia Lee is a series regular on Fox’s Surviving Jack, Gerstein remains hopeful that Lemon’s little sis will make an appearance this season, too. And if not? “Well, she goes [away] to boarding school,” laughs the EP. [source]
Tansy will be back this season for "lots of amazingness". [source]
Dani Bree: If I could I would move to Bluebell and never ever leave! What's coming up on my beloved Hart of Dixie this season?
It must be spring time in Bluebell because new friendships are blooming! (Ugh, so sorry. That was unbelievably lame. We realize that.) We recently chatted with the lovely Kaitlyn Black and she exclusively told us that AnnaBeth and Zoe are going to get super close—like braid each other's hair close. "Yes there will definitely be a stronger relationship between the two of them and we will get to see lots of AB/Zoe shenanigans," she says. So does this mean that AB and Lemon's Belle bond is broken? Black explains, "Zoe is not taking the place of Lemon but with Zoe being very close to Lavon and AB being in love with Lavon they definitely get to hang out with each other quite a bit more." We can't wait to see their crazy Bluebell antics! [source]
COMING UP NEXT | Season 3 picks up five months after the finale and finds "no one where we expect them to be -- both physically and emotionally," showrunner Leila Gerstein reveals. Zoe, for her part, had "a wonderful summer" in New York, while George -- whose on/off love connection with the darling doc "has run its course for the foreseeable future" -- used his time away to "realize that he let Tansy go too fast and should have fought for her," the EP shares. And next we see Wade, he'll still be plugging away at the Rammer Jammer alongside Lemon, who is enjoying "a mysterious secret relationship with someone." (This handsome gent, perhaps?) As for Annabeth and Lavon, "We love them!" Gerstein gushes. "We're putting that relationship front and center." (But expect Lavon's cousin to create tension for the twosome.)
TVLINE BONUS SPOILER | "We're growing our world" even more in Season 3, Gerstein teases. "We'll meet Brick's mother, [Zoe's father] Harley Wilkes' family and also Annabeth's parents for the first time." Don't get too excited, though: Zoe doesn't have any siblings running around town. "Harley doesn't have other kids," the EP assures; the new faces are "just Zoe's cousins." [source]
Trista: Bluebell me! I want to know what's coming up for Hart of Dixie in season three.
What a coincidence! We just hung up the phone with Bluebell's most sassy resident, the wonderful Jaime King, and she says that season three is going to really shake things up for our ladies in the love department. "I'm really excited for Hart of Dixie fans because we have a lot of new developments with the characters." King continues, "And we have great new guest stars! Robert Buckley, and Josh Cooke are really awesome actors that are coming on to play love interests and to throw some curve balls for Zoe and Lemon." Looks like there's a lot more man-candy moving to Bluebell! Are you as excited as we are? Answer: No. No you're not. [source]
Zoe Hart’s cousin is Bluebell-bound. TVLine has learned exclusively that Paranormal Activity alumna Lauren Bittner will recur in Hart of Dixie in Season 3, playing Vivian, a relative of Zoe’s doctor dad Harley Wilkes. [source]
What to Expect: A whole lot of handsome guest stars are coming to woo the ladies of Bluebell! Jaime King tells us Robert Buckley's character Pete is "unlike any man Lemon has ever encountered." Swoon! Meanwhile Zade fans are going to throw a fit because Wilson Bethel is not too happy to see Josh Cooke's "connection" to Zoe. Oh and the fact that Zoe didn't call him for three months was a pretty bitchy thing for her to do. [source]
On Brick - I'm doing Halloween episode: very funny & sexy; and another one near aeason's end! And, meanwhile, BIG SURPRISES for Brick! [source]
On Tansy - Mircea Monroe tweeted that Tansy will be around for a good amount. [source]
Dana: Hart of Dixie, please!
Looks like things are getting serious between Zoe and new beau Joel, played by Josh Cooke, in season three. So serious that his family is coming to town to meet her! Fans will meet Sylvie, Joel's sweet, warm and charming aunt, when she comes to Bluebell to celebrate Hanukkah with the couple. (Hmmm…no Chrismukkah celebration?!) [source]
Summary from Itunes exclusive video "Surprises & Secrets": Season 3 is the season for starting over. Zoe has a new love interest, Joel, in NY that is keeping her there. Wade dealing with Zoe being gone, Wade waits for no one. Season for Lemon to find love. She dates some unexpected people and it goes well. George will find a new love and have a relationship that he is trying to keep hidden. Joel and Lavon don't like each other. Lynly moves into the plantation. We will find out Brick's real name. [source]
Big fan of you, big fan of TVLine, and big fan of Hart of Dixie. Anything on Zoe and Wade? –Jill
It would seem that the arrival of Josh Cooke’s character, who like Zoe is a NYC transplant, will shake up the canvas – meaning perhaps a bit less Zade action. “With Joel in town… the five original regulars aren’t working together a whole heck of a lot,” Scott Porter shared with us last week. “George is a kind of a satellite around everyone else’s storyline, and so is Wade. We haven’t as much together this season as I would like, but I’m sure it’s all coming.” [source]
Lemon recruits George to help prevent Shelby and Brick from reuniting. [source]
Kayla: I am beyond pissed at the premiere of Hart of Dixie! How could Zoe do that to my poor Wade?
Trust us girl, we feel your pain—and so does Wilson Bethel! We caught up with him on the Hart of Dixie set and he shared that even though Wade is bummed that he lost his lady love, he's not going to be sulking around Bluebell. "Wade got his feelings hurt but he's also not the type of guy to hold grudges so I think he's pretty quick to forgive and forget," he says. "But it looks at least in the short term that Zoe has moved on so that is kind of a bummer." So what's Wade's new mission? Bethel says with a smile, " I think his M.O. is kind of just giving this dude a hard time as one would when one is hanging around their ex-girlfriend's new fella." FYI punches may be thrown… [source]
I just think someone is going to need to plant that seed in that messed up head of his to get his to start thinking more clearly.
I have to wonder if George is the right person to put that seed in his head. I don't think George is going to be in a place to really be giving advice on turning one's life around.

Lemon will probably set him straight. That is part of her SL i think this season, to help Wade.
I could see her setting him straight since she also owns the Rammer Jammer with him. And if he gets into trouble with a judge that also will hurt her. Basically is it all worth it? No. It isn't worth risking their business. Heck he did that back in the finale when he chose Zoe over going to the Gloriana meeting.

I don't think Lemon is the right person either. Her help is already going to get them in hot water.
Agreed.

Her idea of help is to win the breakup contest. Not saying that I don't love the girl and I know her intentions are good but Wade needs some solid advise.

Considering she even later here is trying to keep Shelby away my guess is she still hasn't realized fully what her actions can do. Which surprises me back on the 304 description.
----
I was disappointed in the lack of most regulars in the premiere.

Yeah if Wade's friend Lavon actually ever shows up this season. S1 Lavon I could see it. S2 no he would just judge.
Season 2 Lavon still needs his but kicked. Hopefully he is left in season 2. Lavon not liking Joel gives me some hope. Lavon can't be so oblivious to not be able to connect the dots. Zoe returns and Wade fakes a relationship with Lemon, punches Joel, and I hen finds himself in some trouble. He should be able to figure out that Wade isn't over Zoe.

I think her heart is in the right place. She just wants to protect those she cares about. She still has room to grow.

Yeah but we don't know what the Shelby situation is yet. There maybe valid reason for that.

I could see Lemon maybe asking Lavon for help with the situation.
I am just saying Lemon needs to learn to butt out of everyone's business is all.
There is a time to step in, like with George. And a time to let things be, like with Wade.
I don't know that Lemon will be paying too muh attention to Wade in 304. She is too busy trying to get into the party. I would rather Lavon notice on his own and deals with it but having a heart to heart.

And the stuff with Shelby again should be another chance for her to learn. I don't think Brick will be too happy with her. Lemon needs to get her own life. We may see that change later in the season. Lemon will own a business whether it is still the RJ or Fancie's. And her love life should improve. So she'll be too busy to meddle in other people's business.
