I don't find it odd not everyone wants to see Emma paired up with a villian and would rather tune out than watch that Hook does not deserve Emma and Henry and I hope Neal comes back for good to get his family back. And it would be kinda gross watching Hook and Emma knowing that theres a very good chance Neal is Baelfire which would kinda make Hook Henry's step-Grandfather .

Well I dislike Emma/Neal for many reasons (for me it grosses out more seeing him and Emma is a statutory rape by the law, she was underage when they consummated the relationship and he was a bit old, but whatever.) but this isn't stopping me from following the show or giving them a chance in the future, I don't see how is it jumping into conclusions before the storyline is even revealed gonna help. He may very well change, he may very well not, writers paths are unpredicted. Just my 2 cents.

I think Neal is suppose to be two or three years older than Emma so he wasn't a bit old.

I was against all the rape talk about Hook. How about we don't start it with Neal.

I agree this is a promo by ABC not the show's producers. In fact it actually seems to be going against what Adam & Eddy were talking about today and what Jennifer said a few days ago. That Hook isn't someone that Emma would end up with. Only good to go to Vegas? Getting her kid away from this dangerous person? If anything I've been feeling lately that Hook/Emma will always be a big tease and nothing more.

So I'm not worried. And, I'm definitely not quitting the show. I've always watched for the characters first, not ships. And, I do think it's a bit OTT to quit based on one promo.

I also think Regina should apologize to Snow but I think it will take time. I do think her redemption is coming slowly and is not overnight.

I actually like both of Emma's potential pairings. I don't think the writers have established Emma's endgame, I think unlike the other characters she doesn't have one true love and it won't take until the last season until we know. In other words her love life will be the most real of going through different relationships so I wouldn't quit

and you can't go by promos put out by the network.. look what happened with the promo for The Doctor. complete fubar. If a scene involving Neal and Emma had been in there instead of with Hook.. would the reaction have been different?
I see what happened between Emma and Hook as a flirtation.. nothing more.

I'm not worried either. I'm along for the whole ride.. to even consider getting off for just one thing I didn't like.. I'd be wondering why I started watching the show in the first place.

Well I'm against every single time Hook spoiler comes out this pairing bashing too. People are allowed to have opinions, I was merely stating a fact (I am a lawyer and I deal with statutory rape cases myself) Graham's rape was mentioned earlier here too.
If there's Hook bashing, expect retaliation. I don't ever comment on Neal or Neal/Emma nor do I invest myself into any pairing (I am fan of the show and I do not follow it because of ships, it has much more to offer than that), I try to be as respectful as I can before heck knows it feels bad to read stuff like I am reading now, but if someone expresses their opinion, how "gross" Hook is, I will do so as well as it seems fair to me.

I didn't say Hook himself was gross I said it would be gross if he were to be with Emma after being with her son's grandmother that is if Neal is in fact Baelfire and I think he is.

According to the flyer Neal was born on March 23, 1977. During 2001 he would have been 23 or 24.

Neal's Age:

Neal's year of birth is listed as 1977, the actor's year of birth. If this is correct, and if Emma was born in 1983 (I've read theories that say the show is actually set a few years before our present, but let's not go there), that's a six year age difference - possibly closer to five if Neal was born towards the end of the year and Emma was born towards the beginning (unlikely in Emma's case given there was no snow - in Maine! - when she and August came through and there was none on her birthday).

However, there is some reason to suspect Neal might have been using fake ID when he got his job and that he could be younger than that.

I think the actor is supposed to be closer to his real age in the "present" of the show rather than have been that age when he met Emma.

Second -

Age of Consent:

Age of consent varies by state. Some also have laws that take into account the age difference (teens within a close age range may be legal even if one is below the age of consent or the older teen may be subject to a lesser penalty). For some people, the age of consent is actually higher - for example, in a student-teacher relationship or others involving a position of trust or authority, the age of consent may be set higher.

Currently, age of consent ranges from 16 to 18 in the US. I remember reading about some western states getting rid of loopholes in the past few years, ones left over from the 19th century (back when 13 year olds could marry to stake land claims) and also raising the age of consent.

So, I don't think we know what states Emma was in with Neal. I don't know what the age of consent would have been or whether Neal was close enough in age for it to be a defense or a mitigating circumstance.

Also, Once has already proven that it will make the laws whatever it wants them to be (within reason) for the story.

My guess is that Neal's birth year will quickly change if the producers feel there's been too much of a squick factor (personal advice: please, change it. Quickly). However, I would expect that they also meant Emma to be of the age of consent.

Complete side thing - If you look up age of consent in history, it gets complicated because sometimes what they were talking about was age to consent to marriage (a betrothal) rather than age to enter into sexual relations.

Just in case anyone's as nerdy as me and needs to look up these things.

Awwwwwwwwh the Rumbelle feels are back and they are huge! Especially at the "You'll never keep us apart, I will not stop fighting for him!" Oh my god, Belle, you're a goddess!

But same here, I wish they hadn't released those bits, now we're all even more giddy than ever.

And can I just point out how beautiful this promo is in general, with this song? I was really stunned. Kudos ABC!

About the Hook/Emma and missing Swanthief part, come on people! Calm down. I'm rather into a little surprise than getting all het up over something like this, since we cheered a lot when the "Manhattan" spoiler pics were released the H/E supporters should have the chance to be happy as well, okay?
Besides, independent of which scenes or pairings are shown, the writers pretty much have no influence on that, because ABC cuts the promos and includes the scenes at their will. It's kind of ludicrous to needlessly get all mad, because with the promos the paths this show takes are not determined. So, if you are Oncers: Calm down and enjoy it and don't take the joy from others. :S

I'm a Captain Swan shipper but I actually agree, I wouldn't consider either Neal or Hook as rapers... Emma was totally consenting when she slept with Neal, and she was almost 18, so

That said, neither Adam & Eddie nor Jen said that Emma wouldn't end up with Hook... They said that he was dangerous RIGHT NOW and that's very different IMO.

That said, I agree with PrincessB that everytime that there's some Captain Swan in a promo we constantly are getting some bashing over here... And I agree that I hope it won't be the case when you'll be having some Neal/Emma scenes, at least in here. I think we should all let everyone enjoy what they have for their pairings, without saying it's "gross" or whatsoever!
