Master storytellers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz ("Lost," "Tron: Legacy") invite everyone to brace themselves for a modern fairytale with thrilling twists and hints of darkness, brimming with wonder and filled with the magic of our most beloved stories.

And they lived happily ever after... or so everyone was led to believe. Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison, "House") knows how to take care of herself. She's a 28-year-old bail bondsperson who's been on her own ever since she was abandoned as a baby. But when Henry (Jared Gilmore, "Mad Men") -- the son she gave up years ago -- finds her, everything changes. Henry is now 10 years old and in desperate need of Emma's help. He believes that Emma actually comes from an alternate world, and that she's Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin, "Big Love") and Prince Charming's (Josh Dallas) missing daughter. According to his book of fairytales, they sent her away to protect her from the Evil Queen's (Lana Parrilla) curse, which trapped the characters of fairytale world forever, frozen in time, and brought them into our modern world.

Of course Emma doesn't believe a word, but when she brings Henry back to Storybrooke, she finds herself drawn to this unusual boy and his strange New England town. Concerned for him, she decides to stay for a while, but she soon suspects that Storybrooke is more than it seems. It's a place where magic has been forgotten -- but is still powerfully close -- where fairytale characters are alive, even though they don't remember who they once were, and where the Evil Queen, known as Regina, is now Henry's foster mother.

In order to understand where the fairytale world's former inhabitants came from, and what ultimately led to the Evil Queen's wrath, you'll need a glimpse into their previous lives to learn their origins. But it might just turn everything you've ever believed about these characters upside-down.

Meanwhile, the epic battle for the future of all worlds is about to begin. For good to win, Emma will have to accept her destiny and fight like hell.

UPCOMING EPISODES
2.1 Broken (Source) :star:

In the aftermath of Gold's actions at the wishing well, the people of Storybrooke must come to grips with the knowledge of what they once were... and are again. (Source)
  • This episode is cast-centric. Jennifer Morrison appears in almost every scene.
  • Mulan, Aurora and Prince Phillip first appear.
  • I managed to also catch a glimpse of Aurora, wearing a BEAUTIFUL lavender gown and gold crown. And I’m 99.9% sure that Mulan was with her! At least, that’s who I assume the girl with slicked-back hair, armor and a katana was. (Source)

2.2
  • Regina centric
  • Once Upon a time is in Studio today...Meghan Ory and David Anders will be filming today ‪#OUAT‬ ‪#yvrshoots‬ @olv (Source)

  • Robert Carlyle spent most of Tuesday afternoon and evening inside Mr. Gold’s pawn shop, visited first by his formidable foe, the Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla), as fake smoke seeped out every time she exited out the door. After their interior scene wrapped, Carlyle and Parrilla both met with fans, some of whom had been waiting since 11 a.m. (I didn’t time it right to see Carlyle either on his way to or from set).Source

  • Rumple centric
  • :star: Once Upon a Time is giving actor Colin O’Donoghue the Hook! The ABC drama has tapped the Irish thesp to join the Season 2 cast in the potentially recurring role of Captain Hook, TVLine has confirmed. A handsome, fearsome and confident pirate ship captain, Hook relishes every challenge and never backs down from a fight, whether the reward is power, riches, or women. He possesses the meticulous style and old-school manners of a proper gentleman, but beneath that veneer lies a vindictive enemy who will not rest until all his enemies have been defeated… and humiliated. CASTING & GUEST STARS
  • Cora will be back in season 2
  • Jamie Chung has been cast as Mulan "Magnolia." Mulan is described as “a warrior first and foremost, she could hold her own against a swordsman or even a king. She is trained in weaponry, tracking and riding, but has a spirituality that enhances her tactical and strategic abilities. Like the flower she’s named for, Mulan is beautiful and may, to the uninformed, seem delicate; her roots, however, go deep—she has an intuitive connection to the land and to the creatures who inhabit it. She can “hear” the breathing of the earth or “see” a camouflaged animal. She is well-versed in the philosophies of her people and is able to see the larger picture. She has suffered past betrayals, so her trust is hard-won, but once she gives her oath of friendship her loyalty knows no boundaries. Similarly, when she falls in love, she falls hard—Mulan’s armor protects a fierce heart. “ (Source)
  • Sarah Bolger has been cast as Aurora "Anastasia." Aurora is described in the casting call as “born into a life of wealth and privilege, [she] was raised every bit the polished princess. But beneath the shiny veneer of a spoiled young girl beats the heart of a woman willing to sacrifice everything for love.” (Source)
  • There’s a new prince coming to Storybrooke. Pretty Little Liars actor Julian Morris is set to play a noble royal in a guest star role on ABC’s Once Upon a Time.
The British actor will play Prince Phillip, the prince who’s seeking to awaken Sleeping Beauty (Sarah Bolger). He’s described as a man who’s traveled from a kingdom that’s in decline. He’s described as a young, skilled warrior and selfless hero who’s the veteran of many tough journeys. Morris also plays Wren Kingston on ABC Family’s Liars and he’s also had previous arcs on Fox’s 24 and NBC’s ER.(Source) :star:
  • For Once Upon a Time, the role of [JACK] is being cast (as a "guest role with option"). He's in his 20s or 30s, charismatic, sexy and mysterious, but also loyal and kind, and he's running from his past in a land full of danger. (Source) Get ready to meet Jack -- as in, the one with the beanstalk. This is a guy who carries some serious emotional damage with him as he runs from his past in an unimaginably dangerous land. He's got some serious swagger, but he always keeps people at an arm's length. (Source)
  • Sinqua Walls, who as of late has been recurring on MTV’s Teen Wolf as pack member Boyd, has been cast on ABC’s fantastical sophomore drama as Sir Lancelot, TVLine has learned exclusively. I’m hearing that Once Upon a Time will introduce Lancelot as a “sword for hire with nothing to lose,” a onetime proud member of King Arthur’s Round Table who has since been banished, tearing him away from his true love (Queen Guinevere, as lore tells us). Lancelot is described as “a sword-for-hire, he’s one of the most dangerous men in Fairy Tale Land, because he’s a man with nothing to lose. In his tragic past, he was torn from his true love and banished from the king and country he served. Though he says he now serves only himself and his fee, he can’t help but be guided by his sense of honor, the memory of the man he once was and his true nobility.”. (Source)
    (Source)
  • Two more guest roles are being cast for episode 2.04, the one with Captain Hook.
Milha, a woman who's often at her village's tavern and is bored with being a wife and mother. Yearning for adventure, she joins a band of thieves.
Beaman, a criminal who deals in stolen antiques. This role may be recurring.(Source)
  • Michael Raymond-James is coming on board the second season of the hit fantasy drama in a recurring role as …Actually, we’re not certain yet. Sources will only say he’s playing a “mysterious new character”. (Source)
  • Jorge Garcia will guest star in a season two episode of ABC’s Once Upon a Time. He’ll play “The Giant." (Source)
  • Daniel (Noah Bean) will return (Source)

Magazines and Press

SEASON 2 SPOILERS
  • We will find out Dr Whale’s identity.
  • We will meet Ariel.
  • We will find out about the book and who wrote it.
  • There are “major plans” for Cora this season (possible 3-episode arc)
  • We'll learn Charming's real name.
  • @BaileeMadison I hope that means little snow will be returning to ‪#ouat‬! -YES, she is!!! :) I've never been more excited!!!! @FanOncer (Source)
  • _serenachan: any news on the Mad Hatter from Once Upon a Time?
Showrunner Edward Kitsis was pretty tight-lipped about season two, but did say fans will "absolutely" see Sebastian Stan in season two, so Jefferson/Mad Hatter's story is far from over. Small victories, people! (Source)
  • Question: I have a burning Once Upon a Time question — was the outside world affected when the curse was broken? —Jen
Ausiello: That’s what EP Adam Horowitz referred to as “an excellent question” when it was lobbed to him at Comic-Con over the weekend.
“I think the best way to answer that,” he responded, “is to say that that will be explicated rather quickly.” Explicate: To analyze and develop (an idea or principle) in detail. (Source) :star:
  • Question: Any scoop on August from Once Upon a Time? Please don’t say they’re not bringing him back. —Rae
Ausiello: “We are definitely going to tell what happened to Pinocchio,” EP Edward Kitsis assured us at Con. “The last we saw, he was wood.”
Added Horowitz: “We gotta figure out what happened to him. We started the story and we intend to finish it.” (source) :star:
  • Can't wait for Once Upon a Time to return. What's coming up? —Alan
NATALIE: Next season is all about redemption — especially considering people have done some pretty messed-up things in fairy tale land they'll now remember in Storybrooke. "Archie, for example, who is Jiminy Cricket, is a conscience, but for 28 years, he's forgotten the fact that he turned Gepetto's parents into puppets," executive producer Edward Kitsis says. "Those puppets are hanging in Mr. Gold's shop, so what happens when you're confronted with your past now? There's a lot of loss, regret and redemption for these characters to find." (Source) :star:
  • Now the fairytale characters must contend with magic in their quest to find a way home, as new fairytale characters are revealed, old acquaintances are revisited, and some we had come to believe could be trusted will turn against their own kind. (Source)
  • Question: Any scoop on Once Upon a Time? —Rae
Ausiello: Something will happen this season that will ensure Mary Margaret and Emma get a lot of mother-daughter bonding time, whether they like it or not. Bonus clue: Think Lost.(Source)
  • Question: Okay, I’ll bite — what’s the big Lost-esque twist coming up on Once Upon a Time involving Mary Margaret and Emma? —Victoria
Ausiello: Remember how Lost would forever find new angles from which to tell a story? And you know how Once already uses flashbacks to the fairytale land that was? Well, you didn’t think they’d leave the narrative as linear as that, did you? (Source)

Yep. Just like when we heard news about Gaston and Belle being cast, but nothing about the beast.

Assuming of course, that they already cast Bae. If Jack's not Bae, then he has to be somebody else we already know.

Ok, the only person we don't know the identity of so far is Dr. Whale, right?! I don't think he could be Bae or Jack. :look: Maybe Michael Raymond-James could be Jack/Bae (and we're back on thinking he's Bae.).

Also, that Smee guy, I'm thinking he could be that character from that Beaman casting call. :look:

But didn't they release a casting call for Jack? Would they have done that if they already had someone in the role?

I don't get why some Rumple fans are so hateful towards Regina tbh
I'm not a Rumple fan. My not wanting Regina to have a happy ending has nothing to do with Rumple.

Thanks for the new thread.

I'm a Rumple fan and I don't hate Regina, lol.

I'm indifferent to Rumple. I'm curious about his backstory, I love his moments with Belle, and his confrontations with Regina, but I don't love him or anything

Then obviously I wasn't referring to you ;) I know that not all the Rumple fans hate Regina and I also know that not all the people who hate Regina are Rumple fans, but from my personal experience people who criticize Regina are usually Rumple fans, which I find kind of funny because I think they are the least appropriate to criticize her.

Isn't Whale in the Jack eppy? I could have sworn I read that in the previous thread. Coz that made me wonder if he is Jack...but these threads move so fast I could be wrong.

I think it‘s because both sides, especially Rumple fans, feel only one of them can have a happy ending but I think it‘s pretty much the opposite. If the writers don‘t give a happy ending to Regina then they won‘t give one to Rumple either.

Josh Dallas finished filming his morning scenes pretty quickly, so we didn’t think we’d see him again. But, when Robert Carlyle and David Anders were filming scenes inside Mr. Gold’s Josh Dallas appeared. I don’t know if he was involved in the filming inside the store.

Rick, the security guy, bought him out to meet the fans briefly and he was kind enough to sign some Season One DVDs and Blu-Rays for some people. We were in the crowd of fans watching the filming, so got some pictures of him.

Later on that evening, just before they started filming the big night scene, he came out again. But didn’t stop to take pictures with fans. A majority of the fans started screaming and calling out his name. One lady, who was standing beside me commented that he was charming in real life too. He stood for the briefest of moments before being whisked away in a waiting car.
I’ve put together a gallery of some of the images I took of Josh Dallas during the days shoot, and they can bee seen below. You can also discuss Josh or the characters he plays, in our forums. Sign up and join in the discussion.

I don't know that I hate Regina, I just think she's sociopathic.

Er, literally.

I don't see her capable of putting another person ahead of herself - not that she chooses not to but that she lacks the essential ability. But it makes me kind of disinterested in her as a person (as a character who can keep the plot moving, it's a different story).

I agree. I love her on the show and she is entertaining to watch, but I'm definitely not rooting for her in any way.

I just noticed all this debate on whether Regina or Rumpelstiltskin can be redeemed and I think that they both can be, but I also think Regina no longer wants redemption or real love. Both Regina and Rumpelstiltskin used a horrible curse that destroyed everyone's happiness, but Rumpelstiltskin did it to find his son and make everything right in that relationship. Regina used the curse purely to make everyone miserable. She just wanted to win. Both of them were very selfish in using the curse, but Rumpelstiltskin did it for the son he loves, Regina did it to punish the woman she hates and everyone else who was happy.

I could possibly see Regina putting Henry ahead of her pride and powers, but we haven't seen her stop doing terrible things for his sake. So much of their relationship is about her lying, manipulating and controlling him. I think she loves him, but it's a tainted love that doesn't really do much good for Henry.

As for Rumpelstiltskin, I think he definitely deserves punishment for what he has done, but I think we have seen that he truly wants real love and redemption. When August pretended to be Bae, Rumpelstiltskin just gave him the dagger to destroy. To put that power and curse behind them so that they could start fresh. He is willing to give up a lot for real love. But I admit that I think his desperation to find his son is starting to take him off the deep end again. He released magic without knowing the true consequences and I think we will see him pay the price next season.

So basically the point I'm making is that I think both Rumpelstiltskin and Regina have a chance at redemption. I just don't think that Regina really wants it.

bbroccs 09-04-2012 01:49 AM

God I really hate this Rumple v Regina thing. Fact is. They have both done horrible things. They were both involved unleashing a curse which entrapped innocent people in Storybrooke for 28 years. End of story. And I think they both deserve punishment for that. Just my take on it.

Gwen107 09-04-2012 02:21 AM

First time poster with a few questions.

1. Does Once Upon A Time film in Steveston this week? Are they still filming episode 5?
2. Do you think they will close off more sets soon? I am asking because Canadian paparazzi and fans leak a lot of information. Like the spoiler about Noah Bean last week.
