Master storytellers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz ("Lost," "Tron: Legacy") invite everyone to brace themselves for a modern fairytale with thrilling twists and hints of darkness, brimming with wonder and filled with the magic of our most beloved stories.

And they lived happily ever after... or so everyone was led to believe. Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison, "House") knows how to take care of herself. She's a 28-year-old bail bondsperson who's been on her own ever since she was abandoned as a baby. But when Henry (Jared Gilmore, "Mad Men") -- the son she gave up years ago -- finds her, everything changes. Henry is now 10 years old and in desperate need of Emma's help. He believes that Emma actually comes from an alternate world, and that she's Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin, "Big Love") and Prince Charming's (Josh Dallas) missing daughter. According to his book of fairytales, they sent her away to protect her from the Evil Queen's (Lana Parrilla) curse, which trapped the characters of fairytale world forever, frozen in time, and brought them into our modern world.

Of course Emma doesn't believe a word, but when she brings Henry back to Storybrooke, she finds herself drawn to this unusual boy and his strange New England town. Concerned for him, she decides to stay for a while, but she soon suspects that Storybrooke is more than it seems. It's a place where magic has been forgotten -- but is still powerfully close -- where fairytale characters are alive, even though they don't remember who they once were, and where the Evil Queen, known as Regina, is now Henry's foster mother.

In order to understand where the fairytale world's former inhabitants came from, and what ultimately led to the Evil Queen's wrath, you'll need a glimpse into their previous lives to learn their origins. But it might just turn everything you've ever believed about these characters upside-down.

Meanwhile, the epic battle for the future of all worlds is about to begin. For good to win, Emma will have to accept her destiny and fight like hell.

UPCOMING EPISODES
2.1 Broken (Source)
  • This episode is cast-centric. Jennifer Morrison appears in almost every scene.
  • Mulan, Aurora and Prince Phillip first appear.
  • I managed to also catch a glimpse of Aurora, wearing a BEAUTIFUL lavender gown and gold crown. And I’m 99.9% sure that Mulan was with her! At least, that’s who I assume the girl with slicked-back hair, armor and a katana was. (Source)

2.2
  • Regina centric
  • Once Upon a time is in Studio today...Meghan Ory and David Anders will be filming today ‪#OUAT‬ ‪#yvrshoots‬ @olv (Source)
  • Regina, Charming, Henry, Red, Jiminy, Gepetto, Dr. Whale, Blue fairy and all of ‪#Team7‬ on set today. ‪#OnceUponATime (Source)
  • #OnceUponATime‬ filming at Regina's house in New West tomorrow ‪#yvrshoots (Source)
  • Robert Carlyle spent most of Tuesday afternoon and evening inside Mr. Gold’s pawn shop, visited first by his formidable foe, the Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla), as fake smoke seeped out every time she exited out the door. After their interior scene wrapped, Carlyle and Parrilla both met with fans, some of whom had been waiting since 11 a.m. (I didn’t time it right to see Carlyle either on his way to or from set).Source

2.3
  • Snow White centric
  • Lancelot first appears.

2.4 The Crocodile (Source)
  • Once Upon a Time is giving actor Colin O’Donoghue the Hook! The ABC drama has tapped the Irish thesp to join the Season 2 cast in the potentially recurring role of Captain Hook, TVLine has confirmed. A handsome, fearsome and confident pirate ship captain, Hook relishes every challenge and never backs down from a fight, whether the reward is power, riches, or women. He possesses the meticulous style and old-school manners of a proper gentleman, but beneath that veneer lies a vindictive enemy who will not rest until all his enemies have been defeated… and humiliated. CASTING & GUEST STARS
  • Cora will be back in season 2
  • Jamie Chung has been cast as Mulan "Magnolia." Mulan is described as “a warrior first and foremost, she could hold her own against a swordsman or even a king. She is trained in weaponry, tracking and riding, but has a spirituality that enhances her tactical and strategic abilities. Like the flower she’s named for, Mulan is beautiful and may, to the uninformed, seem delicate; her roots, however, go deep—she has an intuitive connection to the land and to the creatures who inhabit it. She can “hear” the breathing of the earth or “see” a camouflaged animal. She is well-versed in the philosophies of her people and is able to see the larger picture. She has suffered past betrayals, so her trust is hard-won, but once she gives her oath of friendship her loyalty knows no boundaries. Similarly, when she falls in love, she falls hard—Mulan’s armor protects a fierce heart. “ (Source)
  • Sarah Bolger has been cast as Aurora "Anastasia." Aurora is described in the casting call as “born into a life of wealth and privilege, [she] was raised every bit the polished princess. But beneath the shiny veneer of a spoiled young girl beats the heart of a woman willing to sacrifice everything for love.” (Source)
  • There’s a new prince coming to Storybrooke. Pretty Little Liars actor Julian Morris is set to play a noble royal in a guest star role on ABC’s Once Upon a Time.
The British actor will play Prince Phillip, the prince who’s seeking to awaken Sleeping Beauty (Sarah Bolger). He’s described as a man who’s traveled from a kingdom that’s in decline. He’s described as a young, skilled warrior and selfless hero who’s the veteran of many tough journeys. Morris also plays Wren Kingston on ABC Family’s Liars and he’s also had previous arcs on Fox’s 24 and NBC’s ER.(Source)
  • For Once Upon a Time, the role of [JACK] is being cast (as a "guest role with option"). He's in his 20s or 30s, charismatic, sexy and mysterious, but also loyal and kind, and he's running from his past in a land full of danger. (Source) Get ready to meet Jack -- as in, the one with the beanstalk. This is a guy who carries some serious emotional damage with him as he runs from his past in an unimaginably dangerous land. He's got some serious swagger, but he always keeps people at an arm's length. (Source)
  • Sinqua Walls, who as of late has been recurring on MTV’s Teen Wolf as pack member Boyd, has been cast on ABC’s fantastical sophomore drama as Sir Lancelot, TVLine has learned exclusively. I’m hearing that Once Upon a Time will introduce Lancelot as a “sword for hire with nothing to lose,” a onetime proud member of King Arthur’s Round Table who has since been banished, tearing him away from his true love (Queen Guinevere, as lore tells us). Lancelot is described as “a sword-for-hire, he’s one of the most dangerous men in Fairy Tale Land, because he’s a man with nothing to lose. In his tragic past, he was torn from his true love and banished from the king and country he served. Though he says he now serves only himself and his fee, he can’t help but be guided by his sense of honor, the memory of the man he once was and his true nobility.”. (Source)
    (Source)
  • Two more guest roles are being cast for episode 2.04, the one with Captain Hook.
Milha, a woman who's often at her village's tavern and is bored with being a wife and mother. Yearning for adventure, she joins a band of thieves.
Beaman, a criminal who deals in stolen antiques. This role may be recurring.(Source)
  • Michael Raymond-James is coming on board the second season of the hit fantasy drama in a recurring role as …Actually, we’re not certain yet. Sources will only say he’s playing a “mysterious new character”. (Source)

SEASON 2 SPOILERS
  • We will find out Dr Whale’s identity.
  • We will meet Ariel.
  • We will find out about the book and who wrote it.
  • There are “major plans” for Cora this season (possible 3-episode arc)
  • We'll learn Charming's real name.
  • @BaileeMadison I hope that means little snow will be returning to ‪#ouat‬! -YES, she is!!! I've never been more excited!!!! @FanOncer (Source)
  • _serenachan: any news on the Mad Hatter from Once Upon a Time?
Showrunner Edward Kitsis was pretty tight-lipped about season two, but did say fans will "absolutely" see Sebastian Stan in season two, so Jefferson/Mad Hatter's story is far from over. Small victories, people! (Source)
  • Question: I have a burning Once Upon a Time question — was the outside world affected when the curse was broken? —Jen
Ausiello: That’s what EP Adam Horowitz referred to as “an excellent question” when it was lobbed to him at Comic-Con over the weekend.
“I think the best way to answer that,” he responded, “is to say that that will be explicated rather quickly.” Explicate: To analyze and develop (an idea or principle) in detail. (Source)
  • Question: Any scoop on August from Once Upon a Time? Please don’t say they’re not bringing him back. —Rae
Ausiello: “We are definitely going to tell what happened to Pinocchio,” EP Edward Kitsis assured us at Con. “The last we saw, he was wood.”
Added Horowitz: “We gotta figure out what happened to him. We started the story and we intend to finish it.” (source)
  • Can't wait for Once Upon a Time to return. What's coming up? —Alan
NATALIE: Next season is all about redemption — especially considering people have done some pretty messed-up things in fairy tale land they'll now remember in Storybrooke. "Archie, for example, who is Jiminy Cricket, is a conscience, but for 28 years, he's forgotten the fact that he turned Gepetto's parents into puppets," executive producer Edward Kitsis says. "Those puppets are hanging in Mr. Gold's shop, so what happens when you're confronted with your past now? There's a lot of loss, regret and redemption for these characters to find." (Source)
  • Now the fairytale characters must contend with magic in their quest to find a way home, as new fairytale characters are revealed, old acquaintances are revisited, and some we had come to believe could be trusted will turn against their own kind. (Source)
  • Question: Any scoop on Once Upon a Time? —Rae
Ausiello: Something will happen this season that will ensure Mary Margaret and Emma get a lot of mother-daughter bonding time, whether they like it or not. Bonus clue: Think Lost.(Source)
  • Question: Okay, I’ll bite — what’s the big Lost-esque twist coming up on Once Upon a Time involving Mary Margaret and Emma? —Victoria
Ausiello: Remember how Lost would forever find new angles from which to tell a story? And you know how Once already uses flashbacks to the fairytale land that was? Well, you didn’t think they’d leave the narrative as linear as that, did you? (Source)

She must've been alive for decades/centuries? then, right? I think Rumple's family is separated by time from the rest of the characters of the story. That's my opinion.
Although I'm sure she lived centuries ago, there's been speculation that, if Rumple's wife wound up in Neverland, she would stop aging. Since Milha is supposed to have been a person who left her husband and child or children, this makes it possible.

I think I'm in the minority. Most people either don't care much about Rumple's first wife or expect her to be evil or a jerk.

Her jerk/evil factors are -

1. She may have left Rumple because of what happened to him in the war (going lame, becoming poor, and becoming a social pariah for surviving/being branded a coward) and abandoned Bae (who was probably a baby at the time.

2. Possibly having an affair - Bae may not be Rumple's son. Time-wise, this means she could have been unfaithful before Rumple was a social outcast. Also, if she left Rumple, she may have left him for another man.

3. If she was a worthwhile person, that's kind of a threat against the Belle-Rumple relationship, this other person who deserves to be on par with Belle in Rumple's heart and memories.

The non-jerk/evil factors are -

1. Rumple's very real pain the two times he talks about her. When he mentions her to Belle, his voice dips further when, after he says how he lost Bae, he adds, "as I did his mother." When Bae asks if his mother died or if the knight is telling the truth and she left, Rumple sounds like he's being tortured when he says she died.

Losing her hurt him. I don't want to see the cause of this pain and think, "I am so glad this woman is out of his life."

2. Unreliable sources - The same person who says Rumple's wife left also enjoys kicking unarmed, crippled men who are only trying to save their children - after publically humiliating them and mocking them as cowards (yeah, the guy who had armor and a bunch of armed friends when he did this - and who sends untrained children off to war while staying behind the lines to run round up more children - is calling the veteran with the war wounds a coward. Ooh, convincing).

Also, he seems to have a personal grudge against Rumple. I wouldn't be surprised if he wanted Mrs. Rumple himself (it would explain his actions and why his grudge is ongoing) - yet, he clearly didn't get her.

As for Zoso, the previous Dark One manipulated, misrepresented, and did everything he could to get Rumple to stab him. Also, there's some evidence that Rumple can't/won't out and out lie. If this goes for Zoso, he never said Bae wasn't Rumple's son, he only gave reasons Bae might not be and pointed out the irony of Rumple doing all this to save a boy who wasn't his.

3. It's possible for a tragedy in the first marriage to wind up supporting the Rumple-Belle relationship, a legitimate loss and grief we don't want Rumple to experience again.

But, if Mrs. Rumple I (who needs a name) did leave Rumple, I still want her to be a somewhat sympathetic character - I want to see her breaking under pressure or convincing herself that, somehow, leaving is the better option. I want to see something that started as a good relationship falling apart.

If it goes that way, I think it supports Rumple's sense of loss. It also underscores his relationship with Belle. It gives some context for his fear that she can't really love him, even while we know that Belle would never break that way or rationalize her way into hurting someone she loved like that.

Whew.

Or that's my opinion.

Kelaine: I think that's a great post I agree with everything you've said, I'm very interested in Rumple's wife, and I'm sure he loved her once. Loving someone once doesn't mean she's his "true love" or that he still loves her by now

I don't want to hate Rumpel's first wife either. It takes a lot of energy to hate a fictional character. I think some people few her in a negative light because of the recent spoilers about the "bored housewife." If that is indeed Rumpel's first wife, then she'll undoubtedly earn herself plenty of criticism from Rumpel's fans. But we'll have to wait and find out first.

I'm actually dreading learning about that part of Rumpel's past. I hate to think that his first wife left him for another man. However, it would explain why he believes that no one could ever love him. Before he met Belle, his only experience (presumably) with women was with his first wife, and judging by the spoilers and the few little hints that we got from "Desperate Souls," it didn't end so well. So, I could understand Rumpel being in disbelief when Belle professed her love to him. He probably has some abandonment issues.

If Milha turns out to be Mrs. Rumple, I will be very disappointed. I want her to be someone with substance. Even if she turns out to be someone who ran out on Rumple (instead of dying) and abandoned her son, I want her to be someone who justifies that terrible grief Rumple showed when Bae asked if she'd died or not.
Interesting. I never interpreted Rumplestiltskin’s emotions in that scene as grief at all. I see it as a man who was deeply ashamed because his wife left him for another man and he had lied to his son about it.

I honestly do not care all that much which direction they take with Rumpelstiltskins wife. As long as it is entertaining. But if Milha is indeed her than I don’t think her character will be all that significant in her own right, other than having given birth to Baelfire and giving Rumplestiltskin/Gold insecurities about being “man enough” for Belle.
From the casting call I believe Milha is going to be a one off character, never to be seen again after this episode. There was no note of her being a possible recurring or guest character like other roles and they never bothered announcing the casting.
