From the inventive minds of “Lost” executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis comes a bold new imagining of the world, where fairy tales and the modern-day are about to collide.

And they all lived happily ever after – or so everyone was led to believe. Emma Swan knows how to take care of herself. She’s a 28-year-old bail bonds collector who’s been on her own ever since she was abandoned as a baby. But when the son she gave up years ago finds her, everything starts to change. Henry is now 10 years old and in desperate need of Emma’s help. He believes that Emma actually comes from an alternate world and is Snow White and Prince Charming’s missing daughter. According to his book of fairytales, they sent her away to protect her from the Evil Queen’s curse, which trapped the fairytale world forever, frozen in time, and brought them into our modern world. Of course Emma doesn’t believe a word, but when she brings Henry back to Storybrooke, she finds herself drawn to this unusual boy and his strange New England town. Concerned for Henry, she decides to stay for a while, but she soon suspects that Storybrooke is more than it seems. It’s a place where magic has been forgotten, but is still powerfully close… where fairytale characters are alive, even though they don’t remember who they once were. The epic battle for the future of all worlds is beginning, but for good to win, Emma will have to accept her destiny and fight like hell.

“Once Upon a Time” stars Ginnifer Goodwin (“Big Love”) as Snow White/Sister Mary Margaret, Jennifer Morrison (“House MD”) as Emma Swan, Robert Carlyle (“The Full Monty,” “Trainspotting,” “SGU Stargate Universe”) as Rumplestiltskin/Mr. Gold, Lana Parrilla as Evil Queen/Regina, Jamie Dornan as Sheriff Graham, Jared Gilmore (“Mad Men”) as Henry, Josh Dallas as Prince Charming/John Doe and Raphael Sbarge as Jiminy Cricket/Archie.

“Once Upon a Time” was written by Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, who are also executive producers, along with Steve Pearlman (ABC’s “V”). The pilot is directed and executive-produced by Mark Mylod (“Entourage”). “Once Upon a Time” is from ABC Studios.

OTHER SPOILERS
  • @LisaMack324: Spoiler for #onceuponatime Halloween themed episode has a massive wolf in it
  • @DakotaDocherty: Spoiler Alert!!! There's going to be a kiss on Once Upon Time and it may or may not go very well #creepingonset
  • According to Jennifer, there may "eventually" be romance in the cards for Emma and the Sheriff (source)
  • Emma is asked to leave Granny's house, and ends up being roommates with another cast member (source) + "Emma may become Mary Margaret’s first real female friend. But the loneliness will bleed through into other areas, abounding, even after she and Emma have begun to bond in close quarters and of their own accord." (source) = Emma and Mary Margaret are becoming roommates!
  • About John Doe's coma, Josh says "he's not in it for long" (source); although from the press release of episode 3, we know he's in a coma at least at the beginning of the episode.
  • About the origins of Snow White/Prince Charming, "We're going to find out how they met, where they met, what his real name is, how he got the name "Charming"..." (source); this is probably gonna happen in episode 3, "Snow Falls";
  • About Prince Charming's father, played by Alan Dale, Josh says "I don't know how much I'm allowed to say about King George, but I will say he is obviously King of the kingdom, and the kingdom is ailing. He needs some help. He goes to King Midas, and they make a deal, and King Midas says "well, if your son slays this dragon, I will take care of your kingdom. I will give you gold. I will give you riches. You will be taken care of." So he makes a deal with Midas for me to slay this dragon." (source)
  • About John Doe and Mary Margaret "There is this extraordinary kind of weird draw to Mary-Margaret that he doesn't quite understand, in Storybrooke. There's definitely a connection there with her, so he's trying to negotiate that and figure out what that is and where that's going to take him. " (source)
  • THE BIG PRINCE CHARMING DEBATE: Josh has been hinting in various articles about a "brother" Prince Charming may have "This will make a lot more sense when you learn Charming’s real name in the fairy-tale land. If each person has a direct counterpart in each world, than we are missing another version of each man in each world. It is unclear as of yet just how and when that will all come to a head, but if it means we get double the double dose of Dallas, then we’re looking forward to that reveal most of all!"

okay for the 9 first minutes of the pilot but the whole episode?
not sure it's good for the ratings
I think they hope that if it's popular then social networking sites get buzzy with only a small handful of people (a few hundred thousand at most) watch it whilst buzz grows. Doesn't always work, but they figured after Revenge and New Girl it was worth the risk.

I really enjoyed the half I watched, (I decided to wait for the rest) and I can't wait to see what happens next and in the next few episodes.

Thanks for the scans.

I will say that Emma/Henry and Charming/Snow White really sells it for me, they're the emotional connection and the actors sold it without being too cutesy or corny. And Jenn/Ginn are awesome leading ladies.

I wa thinking episode three, but you might be right since we are going to see flashbacks about the curse.

This was in my new TV Guide. I'm sorry for the REALLY crappy scanning. I did it like four times with the same results. I'll try again later.

So Snow White's a bandit is she! I can see how that could have their first meeting (Prince Charming/Snow White) start on the wrong foot.

Ohhh she's a bandit? Not a princess? Maybe a bandit princess? I'm wondering if she becomes a princess only when they get married, or she was already one on her own.

I think releasing the pilot help the new girl and REvenge. I liked Revenge's pilot a lot and kept telling people that they should watch it when it aired.

I just finished the episode. I adore this show already. I want the second episode.

Yeah I was thinking that too. Has anyone seen the film " King Arthur" with Clive Owen and Keira Knightley? I kind imagine that Snow White is a princess in that sense. Going along with that interview with Josh about how the kingdom is falling apart I could see her not being a fan of the prince's father so she isn't a fan of his too. Also I think they might meet in an interesting way. There was footage of Prince Charming shooting an arrow at someone. I don't think it's her but who knows.

Could be either really. IIRC in many versions she a princess - the step daughter of the Evil Queen but is being used as a servant like Cinderella because she is more beautiful than the Queen. So she could have run away from this and gotten caught up as a "bandit" with the Seven Dwarfs in the forrest. Or maybe they are going for a completely unexpected twist because Snow white in the pilot is a very sweet "princessey" character so it would be an interesting turn if she was a bandit and commoner and never a princess by birth at all.

At least we know that Emma is like mother like daughter...

I wonder if her father is alive? She's usually the stepdaughter of the Queen, like you said - that makes her a princess. In this version, the Queen may be the Prince's stepmother instead?

I'm guessing King George (Charming's father) dies, becaue otherwise why wouldn't he be in the war council with Snow White and Charming?

I originally interpreted “frisky” as her ya know, getting it on LOL. Thought that was an interesting contrast to her being a nun in the modern world. Until I realised frisky could actually just mean “lively”.

Either way I like that her Snow White isn’t the typical Snow and princess.

Thanks for the article.

I love this show. I have to admit, I had my doubts about Jennifer Morrison playing the leader... but she won me over in the pilot. And now I want to know more! Snow White/The Prince are meh, so far. Snow White isn't my favorite fairy tale princess, but I want to know how the writers plan on switching things up.

Just watched the pilot and yeah, I love this show already. The scenes between Prince Charming and Snow White were my faves! So can't wait for them to interact as MM/JD.

I take it that John Doe wakes up at the end of Mary's visit, which is what stuns her?
