No problem Jess. I doubt it will last more than one scene and if so no more than one episode, it's the point of the matter. Like we said earlier this week, it's a 3rd party implication no matter how it's used. This time it's not for drama but laughter. NOW if they had really wanted it to be funny we could have seen Nathan scoffing at the actress and mumbling Bitch please have you seen my wife?

I for one would like to see Nathan immune to mess like this not fighting it or it being implied he is fighting it.

yay.. we finally have some news. I think the scene will be funny more than anything else. We'll get to see the camaraderie between Nathan and Clay. I'll need to hear/see the dialogue and what's going on before I can judge how bad it might be. Because whatever anyone else says isn't as significant as what Nathan says and does.

Kelly, I'm sure Becky meant wooden, as in acting and not...what you're thinking. From what was said this is not a product Nate wants to endorse so his acting wouldn't exactly be enthusiastic or genuine.

I sure hope you're right!! I just know these writers and since Becky specifically used the word wooden for his acting and not flat or stiff or forced, I really hope my mind went to a place the pen for this scene didn't.

If it's implied that Nathan gets "excited" I just feel that it's a step backwards and it's useless. No need to go there. So I also hope they'll leave that alone.

I don't think he gets 'excited', I really don't. I always see the term wooden acting, which is why my mind didn't wander to other things

It didn't even cross my mind until you mentioned it.

I think it's supposed to mean both. In that, he's not enthusiastic about it and doesn't want to promote it so he's coming across as fake or unreal. Wooden. But since Clay is a guy and guys love to make dirty jokes (as do women since I do it all the time), he's not gonna let an opportunity go by without making some kind of double entendre. It doesn't mean he actually thinks that's the case or that it is the case. I could picture as him making the joke complete with eyebrow wagging, Nathan giving him the death glare and proceeding to say something snarky. The fact of the matter is that when you have someone as hot as " Nathan", an agent would want to exploit the hell out of that so it's reasonable that Nathan would get pimped out. I would love to see his discomfort with all of that and the fame and him getting frustrated with it if that is how they choose to go.

Where in my posts did you get that Nathan was "fighting" an attraction to the girl? I said clearly that he was uncomfortable filming the commercial...uncomfortable as in he's not an actor, not a fan of the product...not that he was fighting some feelings for this girl.

Jess is right that Clay was referring to Nathan's acting when he called him wooden. Yes, it's likely a play on words by Mark, his sad attempt at a joke, but there's no implication in the interaction between Nathan and Clay that they're talking about anything other than Nathan's acting. The man loves his wife, loves his family, above all else.

I didn't say he was fighting an attraction but it sounded as though, it would be implied that he was. Mark likes us to think it "can" happen or he wouldn't keep using stuff like this.

What I meant by him fighting attraction was the way Season 5 was played out. It was left in the grey area in alot of ways, whether he almost messed up royally or whether he would have eventually if Carrie hadn't got in the shower. I took up for Nathan on this thread as much as anyone (you can ask Susan becuase she and I had many differences of opinion about the whole thing) until 5.13 and that GREY area of why he didn't tell his wife. He was uncomfortable during all of that too.

Now in the beginning of Season 7 it sounds like one thing's being implied while possibly meaning another.

Kelly, that's like comparing apples to oranges (I promise I'll stop with these sayings

...last one I swear), two totally separate things. There's no grey area, Nathan loves Haley and only her, full stop. But maybe that's just the way I see it and I'm still in my Zen mode, so since I know you don't want to join me on my comfy cushion, I'll leave it at that.

I didn't take the "wooden" comment that Nathan was turned on or attracted or something I took it as a slam at James really because alot of people have often said how "wooden/stiff" James is as an actor and I'm more insulted at that if that's what its meant to me.

Racquel, I don't think that was the intent at all. I think its truly a comment on the fact that Nathan, the character, is a basketball player, and that shows in his acting on this commercial shoot. I'd say its much more likely that that specific word was put there by Mark to get a rise...no pun intended..out of NH fans as Mark knows that many have had issues with Nathan interacting with characters of the opposite sex, other than Haley, in the past. I think by now that most of us can see through that, though, expect it and even laugh it off in a harmless scenario like this particular one. And even if it is some attempt to poke at the fanbase, that's not how it plays out between the two characters. Clay is teasing Nathan about his acting only.

I like your sayings, Jess and Molly. I'll have to brush up on some myself so I can contribute as we progress through the season.

I hope everyone in the States is enjoying the start of the holiday weekend.
