Thanks for the writer/director info and I'm looking forward to the titles when they're posted. I can be pretty patient with that information given they don't necessarily tie in with episode content, although could give a clue I suppose...but a clue to what character or storyline? Who knows at this point.

As for Alex, in my opinion she can just orbit herself out of Tree Hill completely based on what we've seen of her personality in the multiple casting sides that were released, but yes, please, let her stay on the Brooke/BJu side of the storyline fence as much as possible.

I wonder if they'll try and keep Lucas' house in the show by having another character move into it or if they'll just not show it.

I can't imagine them sacrificing the set to use the pieces for a new one, just in case Chad and/or Hilarie do return for the series finale it would make sense for his long-term home to be shown as it all says goodbye.

I'm thinking in terms of third-partys we're pretty much safe on the NH front. I doubt they'd go there with Quinn, Clayton seems like too much of a player/friend to Nathan to try and ruin the marriage and I just can't imagine Alex being significant enough to Nathan to try and lure him away.

There's always Rachel (so glad she's coming back, they should just drop this Alex girl and have Rachel build herself back up to become the face of CoB) but she learnt in S4 not to try and come between Naley. I could however imagine Rachel/Clayton.

Are the girls back to outnumbering the boys this year? We have Brooke, Haley, Alex, Quinn, Mia, Millie and Rachel to Nathan, Mouth, Clayton, Jamie and Julian? Is Chase still around? If there's an odd number of the genders it's almost a guarantee that a love triangle is on the horizon.

Alex is not gonna last long, it says "guest arc" storyline on Ausiello or Kristin i don't remember, it's posted in the MT, maybe she's gonna ba there 4/5 episodes and then bye-bye

Ohh I thought she was a regular. Gooood.

I hope Rachel's minimum of 7 episodes leads to sticking around for the remainder of the season. Her and Haley putting the past behind them and building up a friendship would be more believable than trying to build up a conveniant friendship between Haley and Alex just so all the girls can hang out.

EDIT: The opening post of the main thread seems to suggest Alex is a regular character.

God, Alex sounds like the most obnoxious character ever. Oh well, as long as Brooke and Julian get stuck with her in the long run I can grit my teeth through some Alex/Haley scenes (which... it doesn't seem to make any sense at all for them to be interacting, tbh). From what you're saying, Krys, it sounds like she's going to dominate her first couple of episodes? That is... not cool. Mark just has a sixth sense for what the viewers dislike and then shoves it down their throats, huh?

I agree, I could do without Alex securing a friendship with any of the girls. And I don't want her to be this season's icon of pity either. We don't need another reckless young role (Quentin, Sam) for the core cast, who are only young themselves, to try and watch out for.

But you know she will be. She'll be the unbearable character who is "tormented" deep down and therefore deserves love and attention from all.

I'm sure they won't show it. There's no reason for any of the returning or new cast to be living in Karen/Lucas' old house. Quinn, I'm sure will live with NH, Clay is a big time sports agent, so he'll have more upscale digs than Lucas' old house and Alex is a model/actress and not living in Tree Hill so wouldn't be living in that house or probably any house for for that matter.

Since this is the NH thread, you're likely not going to get too many people who agree with that sentiment here. Having said that, I'm not at all worried about her coming between NH...not at all. I'd just prefer that she not come back because she'll take up screentime that I'd prefer a character I actually enjoy have.

I doubt that Haley will be building up a friendship with Rachel or Alex. My hunch is that any scenes with Haley and Alex will have them interacting only on a surface level if that. Who knows what's in store for Haley/Rachel, if anything, but hopefully whatever it is is very limited.

That was the original plan, but it seems that those plans have changed. I suppose, like with Austin, she could start out as a guest star and move to regular, but unlike Austin's character, I'm thinking Alex won't be well-received by fans.

Of those two options, Brooke/Alex is more likely by far, but if she's recurring maybe both will be spared. I'm sure, however, friendship or not, that Brooke will have far more scenes with Alex than Haley will just based on the fact that Alex is being written as a character that is directly tied to Brooke and her company.

It reminds me of how Felix was introduced in S2....an extremely unlikeable character that, right from the start, had an obnoxious amount of screentime at the expense of the established characters with large fan bases. Apparently a lesson wasn't learned from that experience.

I've often wondered why, if reps from the show do lurk on fan-related boards, they don't clearly pick up on which characters work and which don't. Granted characters that some fanbases like, other's don't (see Rachel...Brooke fans in general like her, NH fans in general don't), but there are some characters that clearly don't catch on with any fans...and there's a real simple way to track that.

Millie for instance...after 2 years on the show, there are no ship threads for her character as an individual or as part of the Mouth/Millie pairing.

Mia...same...2 years and no Mia or Mia/Chase threads

On the other hand, when Austin joined, there were requests for threads related to his character immediately. Same with Rob/Clay and Shantel/Quinn. There are already active ship threads for both characters and a general excitement to have them as part of the cast even though neither has had a scene yet. Alex? Nothing...no interest at all. The online fans may not represent a large portion of the entire viewing audience, but I do think they are a pretty good representation of what works in general with regard to characters.

Well that’s not good

Like Becky said though if she interacts with NHJ on the surface I can deal, what I can’t deal with is if she had a story arc with NHJ. I doubt that’s going to happen, especially if her stay is a short one so for now I’m not too worried.

Seems her screen time is going to bother me though. But again if it doesn’t affect NHJ’s screen time, meaning if they still get lots of focus than I can survive for how many episodes she’s on for (*fingers crossed she isn’t made a regular*)

As for Rachel, I’m not too thrilled. I don’t hate her because of Nate, again like Becky it’s more because I don’t particularly enjoy her so I think her screen time is wasted. I swear in S4 she had more story and focus than Haley. That’s what made me dislike her more than anything.

I don’t want Haley building a friendship with Alex, Rachel, and Mille (I doubt she will anyways). If any building is to be made, it should be with her sister, Quinn and even Clay. That’s what I’m interested in seeing.
