Acclaimed country-music drama “Nashville” has returned for a fourth season—with more jaw-dropping, heartbreaking moments than ever before.

Season Three concluded with the ultimate cliffhanger—a flatline—as Deacon went under the knife to receive a liver transplant from his sister, Beverly. And when all is said and done, Rayna must learn to negotiate professional demands in the face of unthinkable personal tragedy. After the birth of her daughter Cadence, Juliette began to suffer from worsening postpartum depression and consequently recommitted to her music and movie careers—a choice that will cause her professional life to sizzle but her family life to fizzle. Her husband Avery, meanwhile, must determine how—and where—to raise their baby girl. Rayna’s teenage girls, Maddie and Daphne, grapple with growing pains of their own, knowing they have different fathers—one of whom (Deacon) may die in surgery and the other of whom (Teddy) is headed to prison.

Elsewhere, cowboy Luke Wheeler has recruited superstar Juliette Barnes to be on his record label—a timely boon, considering his biggest artist, Will Lexington, came out publicly at a press conference to the surprise of the whole industry. Scarlett and Gunnar, who together comprise musical duo The Exes, still remain exes as they embark on tour for their latest E.P., but their chemistry—both onstage and off—might soon be too powerful for them to deny. And Jeff Fordham, Rayna’s nemesis, continues to be romantically enmeshed with Highway-65 artist Layla Grant, the only person who can see the good in him but whom he always manages to hurt—whether he means to or not.

This season will see ”Nashville’s” singers, songwriters and superstars struggle to reconcile their public and private realities. Some will fight to climb to—or stay on—the top. Some will succumb to their own ambition. And all will learn how to survive in the wake of loss—proving that music may be at the heart of Music City, but drama always reigns.

“Nashville” stars Connie Britton as Rayna Jaymes, Hayden Panettiere as Juliette Barnes, Clare Bowen as Scarlett O’Connor, Chris Carmack as Will Lexington, Will Chase as Luke Wheeler, Charles Esten as Deacon Claybourne, Jonathan Jackson as Avery Barkley, Sam Palladio as Gunnar Scott, Maisy Stella as Daphne Conrad, Lennon Stella as Maddie Conrad and Aubrey Peeples as Layla Grant.

Dee Johnson (“Boss,” “The Good Wife”), “The War Room,” “A Perfect Candidate”), Callie Khouri (“Thelma & Louise”) and Steve Buchanan are executive producers of ““Nashville”.” The series is produced by Lionsgate, ABC Studios and Opry Entertainment

I wish they had kept some of Maddie's scenes and cut some of Layla's scenes. I got so tired of watching Avery fawn over her all night. He was "happy" to wear that stupid tie, and excited about giving her the "gift" of himself for the entire night, and encouraging her as she cry-babied about not having any support from Rayna. Waaa, Waaa, Waaa. He deserves to be her "boyfriend." How did he become a patsy for that spoiled immature brat. He has had no dignity this whole season. And did she not get hugged or kissed by every available male on the show? They never did that for Juliette or Rayna.

The writers actually cut us a break on that one. IMO he came across worse in the sides.

He's not really happy though. It's all over his expressions. Layla wants him glued to her hip at all times and that would wear on anyone. Layvery :puke: ain't long for this world.

Thanks for the new thread! Probably the last :(

Thank you for the new Spoiler thread. So bittersweet.

It's really a shame that we couldn't have gotten a two hour finale. A lot of shows get two hours. It would have helped a lot with tying up all the loose ends. I really don't know how they are going to jam so much into a one hour finale. It makes me wonder what things are going to end up on the cutting room floor. What things are going to be sacrificed to fit into one hour? We've talked about the sides for this episode but apparently a lot was cut out or changed from the sides for the episode 420. Do you think the finale will line up with the sides or have things been cut/changed? Alternate endings aside of course. And do we think they will show the alternate endings or go with the cliff hangers? Any betting people out there?

I was pleased to see Kevin standing beside Will in the promo. That made me happy although I know they won't have nearly enough scenes together to make me truly happy. It sucks that we all have to just accept what we are given and try to make the best of it. I really feel for you J/A and S/G shippers. I love them too. It looks like only D/R and W/K get a somewhat happy ending. J/A will be in different states and there's Layla still clinging on. And G sleeping w/Autumn does throw a huge monkey wrench into S/G ending happy. THIS SUCKS!!!

#BringBackNashville because it just can't end like this.

2 hour finale would give more of an opportunity to wrap up some main storylines :look:

Can't wait to see how it ends

It may have already been discussed (I skipped a few pages) but Rayna and Deacon's scenes were also altered. He originally admitted to her that he had a bottle in his hand when she called and he also went on a tirade calling out everything she'd done wrong to him in the relationship.

But of course that gets left out and it goes back to him being the screw up 100% of the time and how he needs to deal with that and she needs to forgive.

Is it over yet?

Something that bugs me: I've seen, many times, posters on various sites, commenting, on how, Deacon needs to stop turning to the bottle, when things go wrong.

Aside from the major, Season one, car accident, cliff hanger, When, in the past 4 years, has Deacon drank? Pretty sure that would be never!

We don't get to rest on our laurels, for accomplishments of 15-20 years ago, and, it's not fair to be constantly judged for mistakes of 15-20 years ago. Especially, when a real effort has been made, to change and grow!

I told you all that this show could never craft a plot where Rayna would have to accept responsibility for anything. Then I heard that sides disagreed with me so I so I said fine, I guess I was full of sh¤t.

Guess I wasn't.

jbshmdfb 05-20-2016 08:53 PM

Yeah it was stupid that they changed it because Rayna's wrong being explored was the best part of those sides to me.

It's because the show has been supremely consistent with his portrayal when it comes to that. The narrative has never changed: "Deacon is a drunk! Deacon is a drunk!! Deacon is a drunk!!!"

Deacon doesn't even need to drink for people to think of him as a drunk anyway.

Me too. I was quite looking forward to him calling her out in front of the therapist and getting to watch her squirm as she heard it.

The closest thing we got was the therapist bringing up that she left a very convenient door in her "wall" that she would open and close as she so needed. But of course she just says "oh I wouldn't put it that way" and it gets dropped.

Saint Rayna and Drunk Deacon, y'all. The power couple.
