The people in charge of this show are petty, small-minded creatures. If they think their chances of renewal rise by even one percent by extorting the network with an unforgivable cliffhanger, they will do it.

I'm kinda looking for that mercy shot we've been bandying about. I hate to say that, but these writers don't deserve us. They don't deserve the actors they're writing this foolishness for. The saddest thing to me is, in the hands of some capable people (as in fire every writer they have currently, including Callie), S5 could be really, really good. Maddie trying to make amends with her parents, Juliette and Avery figuring things out, Scarlett and Gunnar finally working as a couple and navigating that landscape, Layla hopefully getting hit by a bus BUT not before it comes out that she was the scheming bitch who let the cat out of the bag, and Will - poor darling Will trying to survive in Music City.

Prediction for this episode: 0.7 and a new series low, but I would not be surprised seeing a 0.6.

And yes the whole writing team would need to be fired.

I'm not sure I skipped it, but what are the two cliffhangers in the finale ?
One is Juliette related and the other one ? Is that about Maddie and the music producer ?

LOL. I guess there are actually three cliffhangers then. Maddie is somewhere she doesn't want to be, but nothing has happened to her at the end of it. But let's just say that it might be better for her if the show is canceled.

In season five, Maddie gets raped by her producer, gets pregnant and chooses to keep the baby.

For all we know the Maddie storyline gets resolved. I think the last page we see on that is a whole act before the end of the show. The only cliffhanger I saw was the Juliette one. Will and Kevin leave together for the night.

Nashville aired against a repeat of Chicago pd. That might help the ratings a bit.
