The critically acclaimed drama series "Nashville" returns for a third season. In the season two finale, Rayna was left at a crossroads with marriage proposals from both Luke, her superstar boyfriend, and Deacon, her first love and the father of her oldest child. Whom will she choose? And how will she navigate the turbulent road helming her own label, Highway 65? Juliette had lost the security of her newfound love with rising artist Avery, which foundered when she cheated on him with Jeff Fordham, the record label executive who has made no secret of his contempt for her. This season she will not only grapple with that heartbreak, but also with a pregnancy.
Will's sham of a marriage is cracking under the weight of his admission to his wife Layla that he's gay, and to the cameras of the reality show shadowing their every move. Will his burgeoning career be his salvation or an albatross? Scarlett, Gunnar and Avery continue to struggle to find their muses and voices within in the music industry, and the dynamics of their careers, friendships and search for love seems to shift continually.
Rayna's daughters, Daphne and Maddie, cope with their mother's engagement as well as her ever-increasing fame, while her ex-husband, Teddy, forms a shaky new alliance with Rayna's nemesis, Jeff Fordham.
"Music City" can mean so many things to different people. In Nashville, musicians and songwriters are at the heart of the storm driven by their own ambitions. Some are fueled by their creativity and passion for fame. Others struggle to cope with the pressures of success and doing everything in their power to stay on top.
"Nashville" stars Connie Britton as Rayna Jaymes, Hayden Panettiere as Juliette Barnes, Clare Bowen as Scarlett O'Connor, Chris Carmack as Will Lexington, Will Chase as Luke Wheeler, Eric Close as Teddy Conrad, Charles Esten as Deacon, Oliver Hudson as Jeff Fordham, Jonathan Jackson as Avery Barkley, Sam Palladio as Gunnar Scott, Lennon Stella as Maddie Conrad and Maisy Stella as Daphne Conrad.
Dee Johnson ("Boss," "The Good Wife"), "The War Room," "A Perfect Candidate"), Callie Khouri ("Thelma & Louise") and Steve Buchanan are executive producers of "Nashville." The series is produced by Lionsgate, ABC Studios and Opry Entertainment.

Right and basically Rayna is right. Jeff blew off Layla's career which is why she is totally dumb to have him represent her. He has been representing her for a year.
As for H65, Rayna has had money problems forever. Her and Teddy constantly mentioned being house poor. She used every penny she had to buy herself out of Edgehill and she has two artists. Juliette has been out of commission and was using her own money to do her tour. She voided her contract with Scarlett meaning all the money she put into her is gone. And she was just complaining about studio costs for Sadie. She has the office, that I assume she rented, employees, utilities, insurance, etc to pay. She needs to be looking at new talent on the regular and she almost never is. Juliette came to her and she only signed Sadie because Sadie mentioned looking at Edgehill.

I agree it makes sense that Rayna would want to give her a shot but she needs male artists on her label and I am sure lots of male artists aside from Will lost their label in the Edgehill downfall so it would have made more sense for her to look at them instead of trying to one up Jeff by making Layla the success he couldn't not knowing how close those two are. I guess I would be more ok with it if I didn't know where the story is going. I know I can be a downer with the Layla stuff so I will try to focus on the good for a bit it's just hard cause all I want really it's her off my screen because she brings down all the characters she has storylines with.

Well she's looking for new artists this week. And Lamar was going to give her the money to buy her out of Edgehill like it was nothing. When she got her inheritance from him I'm sure she's got more than enough money. They haven't really mentioned money issues since then, especially combined with her album/tour doing well. H65 is likely not making enough money itself to sustain itself but I'm sure Rayna now has more than enough money to keep pouring into it to keep it going for a while.

I am saying from a business perspective it makes sense. Let me be clear, I still hate Layla!!! Also, I don't particularly care for this storyline either. First, I agree Rayna could be looking at other artists as well. But that is also true of that the Maddie plot. It's ridiculous that Jeff and Rayna are fighting over artists in Nashville, period. But for whatever reason, Nashville wants these two to be adversaries...so whatever. It's also dumb that Jeff wants sign Layla to H65 to cause trouble. The whole deal is dumb!

I know, but she is such a ridiculous business woman. Remember when she just asked that person...to randomly let Sadie play since she was playing too. The biggest plot drop is that someone as big as Juliette would sign with her.

She is looking for male artists this week. All the On Location stuff when they were filming the audition scenes was for guys because that's specifically what Rayna was looking for. But apparently Layla shows up anyway. And do we know she doesn't sign anyone else? Last season they mentioned her signing some guy a couple times, we just never saw him. So she could sign someone besides Layla but it just gets mentioned in passing.
I hate Rayna propping Layla significantly less than propping Luke (he had so few scenes with anyone else it was practically all she did). At least this is H65 stuff with the opportunity for more Rayna/Jeff showdowns

Yeah there will definitely be a showdown if she finds out, he's representing Layla and kept it a secret...but now that he doesn't have Edgehill behind him...I think he is a nonentity for Rayna. I wonder if he is leaving eventually.

Excited for that :D
Now can they just manage a Rayna/Avery scene. Its ridiculous that they have yet to have a real scene together, especially considering this is the second time he's been hired to produce an album for one of her artists.

yeah especially since she was all about him being someone she wants producing for Hw65. A one on one scene would help sell that.

Can't wait for those scenes too! :yay:
And why do I have the feeling Rayna is saying "I will make it my mission to ruin you" to Jeff and not Luke ? I don't know, just a guess.

I want them to have a scene discussing the progress on Sadie's album and together come up with the idea to get Deacon involved. I want it so much :bawl:
