Yes thanks for the explanation Lethally Floral. I used to obsess over sides back in the day on a ton of other shows, but didn't even think about looking for them for JTV. They can def be hit or miss for the reasons you state - they're only for auditioning, and sometimes they're inaccurate - but still fun to use them to piece things together. And from what I've gathered from the JTV sides thus far, a fair amount of the direction of the final season does seem to be revealed, at least in terms of the Jane/Raf/Michael of it all.

I wonder who Sophia will be playing. It would be interesting if she was Rafael's sister through his biological parents. Or is that too out of the realm of possibility?

When shows have a part on a TV show they need to cast for an episode, they'll often release the relevant pages for people who'd like to audition to buy. Unless they're redacted, sometimes you'll get glimpses of other scenes at the tops or bottoms of the pages which can sometimes contain spoilers for other stories.

When fans realized it, they started buying the sides. They're pretty cheap. Shows seem to be aware of this and if they really want to hide something, they'll create scenes specifically for auditioning that aren't part of the episode. Or they'll redact the non-relevant parts of the sides.
