| House S&S Thread #2 ~ The Skateboard is Cooler Anyway House Season Three Spoilers Episode Spoilers 3.02- Cane and Able Airing 9/12/2006 Written by:
Directed by: - House’s ego has taken quite a blow because he failed to diagnose his last case, and it’s affecting him physically. He is obviously in pain again, although he continues to deny it. House’s new case is 7-year-old Clancy, a product of in-vitro fertilization, who’s been admitted to the hospital with rectal bleeding and proclamations of being tortured by aliens. As the team runs tests on him, they discover the same test is giving conflicting results. When Clancy claims to have a tracking device in the back of his neck and the team discovers an unknown metal object exactly in that spot, they aren’t quite sure what to think. Amidst all this weirdness, Cuddy and Wilson decide it would be best not to tell House the truth about his last case, thinking that perhaps he will learn some humility if he believes he’s not always right. Cameron discovers the lie and is outraged, but Cuddy convinces her to hold off telling House. When House and the team discover cells with a different type of DNA in Clancy’s body, they are forced to give Clancy’s alien claims a little more credence, but a frustrated House gives up on his young patient, forcing Cuddy to re-think her desire to hold back the truth she’s hiding in the “Cane & Able” episode of HOUSE. - The patient is a 7 year old boy(Clancy) - who apparently is being abducted by aliens, complete with a chip in his neck, bright lights, levitating off his bed...the works. Chase is the main doc we see dealing with him, so there is a fair amount of Chase in this ep. House has very little interaction with the kid, other than in the OR where House is exploring his brain with a probe. Unfortunately, I can't tell you what is happening with House on a personal level, but I suspect alot based on what I know from the 3rd episode. I hate to be so vague, but I simply can't say more about this episode right now. Let's just say the title is fitting (as it usually is).
3.03- Informed Consent Airing 9/19/06 Written by:
Directed by: Laura Innes - The ketamine has worn off and House is back to using his cane and doesn't want to talk about it. His new patient is Ezra Powell (guest star Joel Grey), a renowned pioneer in the field of medical research, who collapsed in his lab. House puts Ezra through diagnostic rigors, but the team is unable to come up with a conclusive diagnosis, and Ezra's health continues to deteriorate. Becoming increasingly debilitated, Ezra ultimately demands that the team stop the litany of medical tests and help him end his life. The team members have divergent opinions on the morality of helping Ezra die, especially since the possibility of a cure is still in question. The moral dilemma of whether to assist in his suicide and abide by Ezra's wishes, or to ignore what their patient wants drives the team in very different directions. Meanwhile, the teenage daughter of a clinic patient has developed a crush on Dr. House in the "Informed Consent" episode of HOUSE airing Tuesday, Sept. 19 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT). (HOU-303) (TV-14 L) From Fox
- Episode stills from this episode can be found here.
- House exec producer Katie Jacobs revealed that Joel Grey will guest star in next season's third episode as a 'scientist who wants the right to die. He hopes that House will grant him his wish.' The episode is being directed by ER vet Laura Innes. From The Ausiello Report
- "The POTW [Patient of the Week], Erza, is a 70ish world famous scientist who had several important papers published in his career. He's been working a particularly promising project involving cancer the past few years, but his theories haven't panned out in the experimental phase. We open with him in his lab, surrounded by lab rats. He opens one up, hopeful it might bring good news, but it's only more disappointment. He finds tumours. Not what he wanted to see. In the meantime, he's coughing and shaking as we see his lungs fill with fluid, and he falls unconscicous. One of the rats starts biting his lip. This is major role (played by Joel Grey), so there is much focus on him.... his condition is serious enough that Ezra would rather die than find himself helpless and incapacitated. House of course, will do anything and everything he has to - to find out what's wrong with him. Against Ezra's wishes. House pleads with him at one point to give him another day to find out what's wrong with him, promising Ezra that if he doesn't figure it out, he'll personally help him die. They don't come up with an answer by then, but House won't give up and attempts to tell Ezra they think they know what's wrong with him, just to try and buy more time...but Cameron gives the lie away with her eyes. Anyway, Ezra insists he has the right to die. House tells him he'll help him and loads a syringe of morphine - enough to kill him. Ezra is at peace with that, but of course Cameron isn't, nor is Nurse Brenda who sees this unfolding...Foreman is against it as well. They try and pull House away etc...the kind of struggle we've seen before. Tensions ensue. Anyway, House gives him the morphine and he goes into cardiac arrest. House knew this would happen, but he had also planned to revive him all along, lying to Ezra that he would help him die. So he brings him back and keeps him in a coma to buy time for more tests. Ezra doesn't know this of course. Cameron is digusted, and Foreman is sure she's run off to tell Cuddy. In the meantime, Nurse Brenda saw the entire thing and they are sure she's calling Cuddy and whoever else she might have to call. Meanwhile, Cameron has gone to Ezra's lab to see what she can find and she collects several bags of dead rats and also brings many of his old journal articles, lab books and dictations back to PPTH to comb through and read. The team is struggling to figure out what is wrong with Ezra, after the usual false positives and misleading results. Because of his condition (unconscious) there are certain tests they can't perform that would help confirm the lastest theory, so House decides they have to wake him up. Needless to say, Ezra is NOT happy that he's not dead. He and House do have respect for one another, as they understand each other, and even though Ezra knows House won't stop until he finds his answer, Ezra won't give in. He wants to go home and die. As this is going on, Cameron has had a chance to go through Ezra's work over the past few decades and she discovers that he was irradiating babies for experimental purposes without the informated consent of the parents. I think we all know how well this goes over with Cameron. She angrily confronts Ezra about it and he explains that if the parents knew what he would doing, they never would have consented and the breakthoughs that came about because of the studies would never had happened. The results of studies did help many other sick children and lead to new and better treatments, but Cameron thinks he was morally and ethically wrong to do it.... House is House and is obsessed with solving his puzzle. Which he does. And in the end, it's not good news. There is one clinic patient, Mark, who comes in with what turns out to be a cold. That's nothing special, but what is special is his "smoking hot" 17 year old daughter (Ali) who comes onto House in big way. It's no secret she wants him. As she is leaving the clinic, House drops some papers and Ali helps him pick them up, with much sexual tension in the air. Cameron happens to walk in just then, and the atmosphere does not go unnoticed by her. She's really talking about Ezra, but she shoots Ali a look and says 'he's too old and weak.' Ali comes back to the hospital with her father to get more meds and finds House getting a candy bar. They banter a bit and she asks why he hasn't returned her calls etc. House says he will. In a few years. Ali tells him he doesn't have to wait a few years, only 6 months. That's when she turns 18. House doesn't know whether he's flattered, frightened or turned on by her attention to him. Later we see House wearily coming into his office, where he finds a wrapped gift on his desk. He opens and sees it's a calendar, with the date of Ali's birthday circled. He hesitantly tosses it in the trash, but then he has a change of heart and digs it out. Tossing it on his desk. Just note - House's pain and cane are back. From spidysense on TWOP
3.04- Lines in the Sand Written by:
Directed by: - House takes the case of Adam, a 10-year-old severely autistic boy who screams loudly for no apparent reason, at least not a reason his three previous doctors could diagnose. The team wonders why House is taking the case - the boy's not sick; his symptoms seem to be a product of his autism. House claims he just wants a patient who can't lie, but it seems he relates to this kid: the social aloofness, the obsession with detail, the lack of social graces. In fact, House actually envies him; living in a shell has its advantages. But when Cuddy makes a minor change to House's office and House refuses to use the office until it's returned to its original state, he finds himself wandering the hospital in need of a temporary home, crashing in Cuddy and Wilson's offices. Meanwhile, teenager Ali from the previous episode still has a crush on House and is becoming a nuisance around the hospital. As Adam becomes more ill and the torturous diagnostic procedures yield nothing, House realizes he needs an answer, and his patient just might be the only one who can give him one. House finds he has to break through the very shell he admires in order to get anything out of the boy in the "Lines in the Sand" episode of HOUSE airing Tuesday, Sept. 26 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT). 3.05- Fools For Love Wriiten by:
Directed by: - This is rumored to be the episode (or around the episode) where David Morse begins his multi-episode arc playing a cop named Michael Tritter who gets House into some trouble.
3.06- Que Sera Sera Written by:
Directed by: - Finally, some rare HOUSE spoilers! Episode 3.06, titled "Que Sera Sera," will feature Hall, an African-American physically fit man who enters a building and learns he has to move a 600 lb. man! Somehow, House will be in a jail cell during that episode... From SpoilerFix
3.07- Son of a Coma Guy Written by:
Directed by: General Season Three Spoilers - Question: I know Hugh Laurie, Jennifer Morrison, Lisa Edelstein, Jesse Spencer and Omar Epps were working the red carpet at the Emmys. Please say you got some Season 3 scoop from one of them? — Lizzie
Ausiello: Poor naive Lizzie. Don't you know by now that the actors are the last ones to know what's coming up on their show? The producers are where the scoop's at, and, lucky for us, House exec producer Katie Jacobs was in a chatty mood on Sunday. She revealed that David Morse's cop character "starts out as a patient" at Princeton Plainsboro. "He comes into the clinic and House is House, and Morse just thinks this is not OK. House basically just pisses off the wrong guy. We filmed a scene the other night where he's stationed on a corner and House is driving home on his bike and gets pulled over for reckless driving, and House pops a Vicodin." And House isn't the only one who gets drawn into Morse's vendetta. As series creator David Shore teased, "We're going to learn a little bit more about [Cameron, Foreman and Co.] through this detective. He's going to be checking them out, too." From Ask Ausiello
- Question: There are people saying that Cameron turns down House in next week's season premiere. Is that true? — Heather
Ausiello: Nope. But while we're discussing Hameron, remember how Hugh Laurie awkwardly attempted to relay a message on Jennifer Morrison's behalf at press tour last month (Ask Ausiello 8/2)? Well, at the Emmys Sunday, she delivered said message herself: She wants them together, and STAT! "Of course," she beamed. "It's good to mix it up a little, have some extra TV drama." She added that fans "seem to have their couple that they root for. There are some people who want Cameron and House, there are some people who want House and Cuddy, and there are some people who want House and Wilson. There are all these different camps." BTW, Morrison and costar Jesse Spencer apparently decided to make the Emmys their official coming-out party as a couple. I'm not sure, but they could very well be the prettiest twosome in the galaxy. From Ask Ausiello
- “I just got the T.V. Guide which contains spoilers for the upcoming season. The best part of the article regards house/cam. Since house is pain free he's acting somewhat normal. ‘The good vibes, however temporary, will fluster Dr. Cameron.’ ‘He has a bit of a character change for a while.’ ‘She's so used to knowing that he's going to deal with her in a certain way, it kind of knocks her off her game.’” From cutiepie4life at TWOP
- The fun of being in the third season is that you can spend more time learning about the characters, going deeper into who they are and their relationships. What does it mean if House can walk pain free? Who is he without his illness? Plus the attraction with Cameron is still simmering, and Cuddy has a secret only House knows. Ouotes from Katie Jacobs, Executive Producer
- spookster831 asks: Please tell me all these rumors about House and Cameron are false?
Korbi_Ghosh replies: Would it shock you if I said that House totally asks Cameron out in the season premiere?! I talked to Jennifer Morrison on the Emmy carpet yesterday and she told me her and Hugh are totally fighting for a little sumpthin sumpthin to happen between them on the show, so we’ll see… Lisa Edelstein came by a little later and she said that it’s nothing for Cuddy to get jealous of. She also said she’s hoping for a little sumpthin with House: “I’ve been trying to wrack my brain for a good way to get them together. I think people should write in suggestions. Suggestions that don’t involve two people getting completely drunk or accidentally falling on top of each other. Something more subtle than that!” From Kristin's Online Chat
- Lisa Edelstein (Dr. Lisa Cuddy) promises interesting writing. The actress, who had just returned to the United States from a trip to Israel, would not give anything away about what is going to happen with her character and Dr. House (Hugh Laurie), but she said that there is some mention of her character's pregnancy in the upcoming season. From Here
- I was able to get the Season 2 DVD set before the release date and now know that David Shore is a House/Cam shipper. On the set, he, along with Katie Jacobs, provides a revealing commentary for "No Reason". In the scene where House is guiding the robotic arms over Cameron's prone form, Shore says, "This is the closest House will get to making love to Cameron...this season.". He also says in order to get HL's reaction shots, JM had to read the scripted description to him as he moved the arms. Shore said that HL (not to mention a couple of the camera crew) went absolutely red after the shot. Earlier in the episode, Shore and Katie make mention of the strong sexual attraction between the two. From Here
- Producers won't give away details about the new season, except to say House dives right back into work after recuperating from the gunshot wounds he received in the last season's cliff-hanger finale (although he doesn't heal as completely as he might have hoped), and that Hack's David Morse will drop by for seven episodes as an equally crabby cop when House gets busted for possession of painkillers without a prescription. From Here
- How much fun was it to shoot Dr. House-and will it change him?
Executive producer Katie Jacobs says: It was great to create that scene. The thing about Hugh Laurie is, physically, he's so capable with anything we have given him. So, can he take a bullet and a fall? Absolutely! He refuses to put on pads and he's very athletic. And the way House may change is just in terms of him looking at the way he pursues truth. He pushes the patient and family members and everybody to find out the truth about everything. Is it really necessary to push people that far? I can't imagine a soft, cuddly, warm House, but we like our characters to remember where they've been. One of the small things we talked about is that he's been shot in his office, and next season there should be a stain in the carpet from where they tried to remove the blood. Basically it's there, as a reminder that this experience happened.
- First, according to Shore, the beginning (House tries to diagnose the patient with the swollen tongue, House gets shot) and the end (House is wheeled into the ER and asks for ketamine) were the only parts of the episode that were real. Everything else -- the exploding eyeball, the visits to the taco stand, the robotic foreplay, House punching out Wilson -- took place inside House's mind. ………..But Shore also says, "I really do think of that stuff in the middle as very real. House isn't debating with some jerk who shot him, he isn't debating with his staff, it's all in his own mind, but it's a very real debate within himself about how he should live his life." ………… Shore suggests that House read a medical journal article about ketamine, which inspired the part of the fantasy where ketamine cured his leg pain -- and which will lead to the first arc of the new season. "We're going to go somewhere with it," he says. "They're going to try that, and have some success with it." More Here
- If ethical dilemmas are his strength, Shore feels romance might be his weakness. Asked about the relationship between House and Cameron, which was put on a backburner in season two, he admitted, "I have a tough time with love stories. If somebody wants to be an ass to somebody, I'm good with that." "We can't forget Cameron felt that way. There were hints of it, but we had played that out. We're going to have to rekindle it in some way. The problem is the stories become repetitive. That's the real challenge, to find new and different ways to do things." More Here
- Being shot by an angry widower in the season finale won't trigger an epiphany for the cynical and sarcastic master diagnostician, says the Canadian-born creator of the hit show House. "We're going to go down that road a little bit, but people don't change,” David Shore said at the Banff Television Festival.... "House looking at a blood test and seeing something on that blood test that shouldn't be there isn't that interesting. House realizing something about a person that we didn't know and thus coming up with the ultimate answer because of that character flaw: that's interesting."...The brilliant pill-popping doctor, who munches Vicodin for pain in his leg, will see his addictions escalate during Season 3."He's going to get in trouble with the drugs,” said Shore.... "I think in TV that rather than have characters evolve, you want to peel more of the onion away,” said Shore. “It's still the same onion, but you show surprising aspects of it. You want to raise as many questions as you answer." More Here
- More news leaking out from the TCA coverage, from Rich Heldenfels' blog (he's an Akron-based TV critic, apparently):
"Also interviewed Katie Jacobs, executive producer of 'House,' who was revealing about some of the coming season while obscuring other things; even while we were talking, I felt like a mouse being dangled by cat. Nuggets, subject to expansion later: House's pain issues are going to be a stronger plot point, he will have a real nemesis beginning around the fifth episode and his Vicodin use is going to be an issue." From freebie on TWOP - Question: Any news on House? Please tell me Cameron and Chase will finally get together…. You know, when she's not high. — Elizabeth
Ausiello: Make up your minds, kids. Do you want Cameron with Chase or with House? (Sounds like the makings of a great TVGuide.com poll!) I know which way Jennifer Morrison (Cameron) would vote. Although she was a no-show at Fox's press-tour bash last week, an adorably tongue-tied Hugh Laurie delivered — or, rather, attempted to deliver — a message on her behalf. Here's our exchange: Laurie: I'm going to tread here very carefully because Jennifer is actually still working. She asked me to say… can I say this? Because it's going to get her into such trouble. I'm going to have to let her say it. She will get her opportunity to say it. Ausiello: C'mon, give me a hint. Laurie: She is keen to see a… a…. a… development of the relationship we hinted at before. She put it more graphically. Ausiello: She wants to see House and Cameron have sexual intercourse? Laurie: Wow! I thought there were whole steps [leading] up to that, but you went right there. Ausiello: How do you feel about it? Laurie: I feel as awkward as [House] does. It's inappropriate in so many ways, and yet if two people are attracted, then I suppose there's not much you can do. But I'm 50 times her age and I'm her employer and I can't see good things coming from it. From Ask Ausiello
- Here's some fresh House prattle for you kids: The show has recruited former Hackster David Morse for a multi-episode arc. According to exec producer Katie Jacobs, Morse's character — a cop named Michael Tritter — will face off with Hugh Laurie in a battle of egos. "House is going to piss off the wrong guy, and that guy just happens to be a cop," Jacobs reveals. "[Tritter's] really going to hold House accountable. We're going to have some fun with that."
