INFO ON JOE'S STORYLINE
(Joe/Cameron stuff has its own section further down.)

* "Don't worry: Joe won't be wandering in the wilderness forever. In fact, even though the producers want to deepen the excellently developed ensemble, Joe will remain first among equals. 'Joe for us has always been the reason that we're here,' co-executive producer Christopher Cantwell says. 'He is the catalyst that enters everybody's life. [Whether] he's a constructive or destructive force, he's the one that everyone is attached to. We want to explore how this guy continues to affect the ebb and flow of these other characters' lives.'" (TV Guide)

* "[L]ook for Joe's mysterious backstory to hit the back burner. 'We needed to start from the place [of mystery] to get him to the place he ended up,' co-executive producer Christopher C. Rogers says." (TV Guide)

* EP Jonathan Lisco says "Joe suffers from genius founder's malaise. They're crestfallen by their own creation" (Diane Gordon, Twitter)

* "Joe's machine was only B+. His problem now is 'I can do better & the future deserves better from people like me.'" (Danielle Turchiano, Twitter)

* AMC has confirmed that Joe will have a new love interest in the form of Sara Wheeler (played by Aleksa Palladino), a "well-traveled and highly educated freelance journalist . . . who comes from a wealthy background, but is self-reliant and responsible. Due to past experiences, Sara is skeptical of relationships, but after reconnecting with Joe (Lee Pace), whom she first met back in college, the couple shares a real, deep connection." (Variety)

* Showfax casting scripts refer to Joe taking a job at Westgroup Energy under the CEO, Jacob Wheeler, who is the father to his love interest, Sara. Deadline confirms that James Cromwell will be playing Wheeler, a "self made Texas millionaire and energy company CEO . . . looking to expand his corporate reach. That expansion brings him both close alliance and in conflict with the ever ambitious Joe MacMillan" (Deadline)

* Showfax scripts indicate that as of at least episode 204 Joe is trying to figure out a way to lease Westgroup's mainframe/network space to third party businesses who need/want more network space and are willing to pay Westgroup for it. DISCLAIMER: Some of these details could change in production if there are re-writes.

INFO ON GORDON'S STORYLINE

* There are repeated references in Showfax scripts for 202 and 203 to Gordon having a coke problem -- in 202, he claims to his doctor that he stopped using, but coke is seen on his worktable in the script for 203. It is not yet clear from scripts if Donna knows. DISCLAIMER: Some of these details could change in production if there are re-writes.

* In one of the Showfax scripts for 206, Gordon appears to be visiting his brother, Henry, and Henry's wife and two children. Thanks to parisredbeatrice's detective work, it looks like actor Kevin Rankin (of Breaking Bad and Gracepoint, among others) is playing the role of Henry -- however, this has not yet been formally announced, and the picture of KR on set was later deleted from Facebook. DISCLAIMER: Some of these details could change in production if there are re-writes.

* In one of the Showfax scripts for 205, Gordon appears to be having mental issues while out at a club. Later, in 206, Gordon tells another character that he has recently been diagnosed with CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy), a progressive degenerative disease. DISCLAIMER: Some of these details could change in production if there are re-writes.

* In one of the Showfax scripts for 206, Gordon appears to cheat on Donna with Rae, an old friend of his and his brother's from their younger days. DISCLAIMER: Some of these details could change in production if there are re-writes.

Quote:
INFO ON CAMERON'S STORYLINE
(Joe/Cameron stuff has its own section further down.)

* EP Jonathan Lisco "wants to see Cameron hit walls of her ideals" (Danielle Turchiano, Twitter)

* AMC has confirmed a new recurring character, Tom Rendon (played by Mark O’Brien), "an IT department head at a law firm who is an early adapter of Cameron’s (Mackenzie Davis) computer startup company, Mutiny, and shares her same brilliance and passion for gaming. His character is described as having a conservative exterior but a strong hacker ethos that may rival Cameron’s." (Variety)

* Per information from a Vimeo audition for the role of Tom, it looks like Cameron will meet him when she tracks him down at his house after she learns that he stole, modified, and released one of Mutiny's games. Cameron initially wants to sue him, but she is later impressed enough with his knowledge that she offers him a job.

Quote:
INFO ON JOE/CAMERON'S RELATIONSHIP

* Showfax scripts for episode 205 include a scene in which Cameron and Bosworth discuss her relationship with Joe; Bosworth says Joe wants Cameron's forgiveness; Cameron worries about being caught in another of Joe's schemes, and Bosworth urges her to meet with Joe so she can look him in the eye and figure out if he's lying. DISCLAIMER: Some of these details could change in production if there are re-writes.

Quote:
INFO ON DONNA'S STORYLINE

* "Last season, Gordon & Donna was about Donna holding the string of Gordon's kite. This year, there will be two kites" (Danielle Turchiano, Twitter)

* Showfax scripts confirm that Donna is still working at Mutiny through at least episode 205 (the latest set of scripts to be released). DISCLAIMER: Some of these details could change in production if there are re-writes.

Quote:
INFO ON BOSWORTH'S STORYLINE

* Showfax scripts indicate that Cameron hires Bosworth to work at Mutiny in episode 202. He initially accepts, then seems to quit, but then returns in a marketing/sales capacity when Mutiny is in financial trouble in 204; Bosworth appears to be working at Mutiny through at least 205 (the latest set of scripts to be released). DISCLAIMER: Some of these details could change in production if there are re-writes.

* Showfax scripts indicate that we will meet Bosworth's estranged (ex?) wife Ginny and their son James in episode 203; James is getting married, and while Bosworth does not attend the rehearsal dinner due to family tension, he has some touching scenes with James and even gives James his prized Mustang as a wedding present. DISCLAIMER: Some of these details could change in production if there are re-writes.

I love all those pictures! I'm trying to figure out the best way to organize all of this in the first couple of posts.

Gordon's beard being back is great news. I prefer him with it.

They are making a bit fun at the character descpription for Sara Wheeler at AVClub. "Seriously, there are Tolkien characters with backstories that are less involved than that."
That's a funny comment -- AV Club has a serious hate for the show in general. The guy they got to recap it last season criticized almost every aspect of every episode, and anything he did like he liked only mildly.

Chet - an annoying customer of Mutiny. Cameron gives him a clue how to get to the next level. Before she went to the door she was discussing some work with Tom. He is still around .
Then she goes into the kitchen where Boz and Bodie are arguing about efficiency in the kitchen. Very cute, Cameron is amused and says to Boz she loves him.
The scene with Chet is hilarious. Like you, I'm glad to see all of the humor involved with the goings-on at Mutiny.

Quote:
Girl - It's Gordon at a bar where he talks to a girl.
The scene before that is very interesting: Boz and Cameron talk about Joe. He wants Cameron's forgiveness and Boz tells her to work him like a marionette. She says she doesn't know if they are part of one of his schemes again. Boz tells her there is only one person who can tell if he lies and has an accurate read of him and that's Cameron. If he doesn't like what she sees in his eyes she should kill him.
Boz's emphasis on "THEN" she should kill him makes me think that earlier in the scene Cameron mentioned wanting to do that.

I guess we can take this as confirmation that Joe's Westgroup scheme is rolling if he's trying to interest Mutiny in coming aboard.

Quote:
Boz is also kind of defending the Giant to her, he tells her it was not art, but it was good business. They are really setting Cameron up to forgive Joe for this betrayal.
I like Boz defending the Giant -- it makes sense for him that he would, just like it makes sense for Cameron that she'd want to disown it after what Joe and Gordon did.

Quote:
Gordon is in a very bad place. The girl appears to him first as a 22 year old Donna, but then he snaps out of it.
That Gordon scene was hard/sad to read. WTF is going on?

Quote:
Brad - waiter at a restaurant where Boz and his date Linda are. Apparently Boz can't pay for dinner, his credit card is maxed out.
I wonder who Bosworth calls just before the scene ends? I don't think it would be Cameron. Maybe Joe? If Joe is back and trying to get on everyone's good side, bailing Boz out would be one way to do it. (And Joe owes him.)

Quote:
Scene after that: Cameron comes home at night. I guess it's after the meeting with Joe. It's near the end of the episode. She is pretty distracted and out of sorts. Donna asks her how it went (end of side).

She is apparently meeting with Joe !!!
Finally! And Cameron being "out of sorts" is a good sign -- she's not angry, she's just thrown. I would guess that means their talk was emotional.

Quote:
I also wonder about Linda. She is not a minor character, otherwise there would have been sides for her on showfax.
Maybe, but we also didn't get scripts for those two Executives they cast, remember (unless one is Bowdich and they just decided not to give him a name).

One thing that makes me think she might be minor is that her name being in all caps on the date means this is her first scene -- if she were going to be big, I think we would have seen him meet her before the date. But I could be wrong.

Another interesting thing is that small scene at the beginning -- Donna's mom is back and it sounds like maybe she's babysitting the girls and when Gordon goes to get them they don't want to go with him. Uh oh.

Tftnt!

I'm genuinely worried about Gordon. That scene was weird and sad at the same time. What the hell is happening to him?

I think I'm going to love the Mutiny storyline. All the guys working there, hope Yoyo is back...

Joe and Cameron meeting? HELL YEAH!

Love Mackenzie new haircut.

I know, they were horrible. It was already a bit ridiculous. I didn't get the hate on so many blogs and always the stupid comparisons to Mad Men (Don Draper), Lisbeth Salander, Hackers (Angelina Jolie), Mary Stuart Masterson ...
I think I read everything what was written about the show and most of them was garbage. There was so much hate I didn't get. The show wasn't perfect, but I enjoyed it overall and episode 7, 8 and 9 were almost perfection.
And the actors are fantastic, I became such a Mackenzie Davis fan and a Joe/Cameron shipper because of Lee and Mack.

I also notices that some people highly praised Mackenzie Davis and others found her as an actress horrible. Some not so professional reviewers don't distinguish the character from the actor and just really didn't like the main characters and a female character doesn't get away with being unlikeable like a male character.

I love Chet and I love the coders. The new ones are such a funny bunch. Loved also the hobbit princess (from Brodie) in 204. I love their dynamic with Cameron. Cameron is becoming less serious and lighter (I love her impersonating Schwarzenegger in 205 with "I'll be back" - Terminator came out in 1984).

Quote:

You're right, I missed that bit. It's amazing how much information we can get from the sides. I like how she can confide in Boz. I guess it's only about the professional experience with Joe. She might confide in Donna about the personal experience with him. Donna asked her how it went and I think it was more about Cameron's personal feelings than the business. Donna/Cameron, Cameron/Boz and the coders will be the hightlights this season.
There seem to be some tension in the sides, but I have the feeling they clear the air pretty quickly.

Quote:

I hope he needs Mutiny as well and not just the other way round, but I really think the writers are giving the collaboration a heavy symbolization again. The companies need each other, just like Joe and Cameron need each other. They are the leaders in this, they are both the visionaries. I think Gordon might come on board when Cameron agrees to Joe's plans. I mean, if she can trust Joe, then everyone else can as well.
I really think they only needed the Sara character to create some major drama towards the end of the season with Westgroup and to raise the tension for Joe/Cameron.

Quote:
I like Boz defending the Giant -- it makes sense for him that he would, just like it makes sense for Cameron that she'd want to disown it after what Joe and Gordon did.
He was Cameron's mentor in season 1 (Joe never was) and is it again, plus acts as a surrogate father. I love how she tells him she loves him. They are so precious.

Quote:
That Gordon scene was hard/sad to read. WTF is going on?
He is in a worse place than in season 1. I think he feels like a complete failure, as an engineer, husband and father (the children won't go with him) and now he has no Donna supporting him, she is doing her own thing. I don't even think she is aware of his problems. Him seeing a 22 year old Donna is very sad. They need to find back to each other, just like Joe/Cameron. I don't know, but I really have the feeling there are parallels again between Gordon/Donna and Joe/Cameron, just like in season 1, when both men didn't treat their women well and this really gives me new hope for Joe/Cameron.

Quote:

I have no idea who he calls. It would be kind of humiliating for him if he calls Joe, but it's possible, they might have had a conversation before where they cleared the air.
But I think Cameron will get aware of this and this might be the push she needs to get back into business with Joe. Mutiny needs more money and she will realize she has responsibilites towards her people at Mutiny.

Quote:
Finally! And Cameron being "out of sorts" is a good sign -- she's not angry, she's just thrown. I would guess that means their talk was emotional.
I know, it's really a good sign. I think she goes there with a lot of anger and expects a lot of bull****, but I think he is honest and genuine with her and this might throw her even more. I wonder if they talk about the personal stuff as well or only about the professional stuff like taking out her OS. I think the personal stuff might be handled later in the season, but I don't know. She will keep herself covered and won't reveal too much.

Quote:

I know, but I think those 2 executives might be Bowdich and Bentham. They aren't extras and I don't think they are important characters.

I don't know, but shouldn't there be sides for her when she has 2 lines in that scene. She might be a recurring character.

Did anyone notice in the Chet sides how Tom's eyes fall on the Habitrail on the mantle? I wonder what the significance is. Maybe he comes up with an idea for a new game.

I also wanted to say that I was wrong with Tom appearing in the sides for 202. He appears in 203, so Donna and Cameron tracking him down might really happen in 202 and then imdb is really accurate this season (only some minor characters are missing). Sara isn't listed for 204 and 205 and there is no indication in the sides that she might appear. I checked the meaning of series regular vs. recurring character and my impression is it's really only a contract thing. A recurring character gets only paid when he works while a series regular has a fixed pay.

you can be a series regular and not appear in an episode. It's just a contract thing.

^^^ Thanks for the confirmation . I think Tom might be around just as much, but his relationship with Cameron will be developed over the season, so they are keeping it under wraps a bit.

Another extras casting call. I really think this is for 205.
Extras Casting Atlanta, For scenes upcoming in early March we are looking for the following | The Southern Casting Call

Extras Casting Atlanta

Quote:
For scenes upcoming in early March we are looking for the following — Young artsy – bar patrons — mid 80’s New Order Fan Types or similar — 80’s hair — cool and not afraid to dance
Might be for the bar scene with Gordon and the girl.

Quote:
Nurses, doctors, techs, and other folks with real medical experience — Also again with hair that can pass for 1980’s
I think something happens with Gordon at the bar. He isn't well in the scene at the bar.
Edit: I was wrong. He is at Donna's parents house in a scene after that. So I don't know if something happens to him.

I really think 205 might be again some starting point for repairing the relationships between Donna/Gordon and Cameron/Joe. Donna will see in what state Gordon is and Cameron might decide to start working with Joe again.

Quote:
Upscale — more clean cut restaurant patron types — men and women late 30’s to 60’s — All types — but Italian look men and women encouraged to apply for some specific roles.
Boz and his date Linda at the restaurant.

I really hope we'll get new sides for 206 on Monday. Next week they'll already film 205.

Also Mark O'Brien will be today on some Canadian radio show and chat about Halt and Catch Fire. Here is the link https://twitter.com/hillier_c/status/570005806751584256

Found the podcast of his interview on the morning show. He did it via phone from Atlanta: Mark O'Brien interview
He says he works with Mackenzie's Cameron on connecting people with online games and becomes a whiz, a kind of brilliant technical wizard at Mutiny, but is not the typical nerd. He is preppy, well put together, very clean cut.
So it's not much more than in the press release from last week.

I really hoped we'd find out if he is a love interest for Cameron. For now it's only speculation and even the sides don't give away much. But he is always singled out in the sides: "Tom and the coders" so there's something.

Good news/bad news time.

Good news: the DVD is set for release on May 5.

Bad news: doesn't look from the press release like there'll be any deleted scenes or commentary tracks, two things I really wanted.

Thanks for the info on the DVD release.

Episode 204 is wrapped according to Nick Pupo who plays Amit (one of the new coders).

I found some interview he did at the beginning of February and he talks a bit of the show.
Interview with Nick Pupo (Hacf bits in the first 15 minutes).

It's his first gig as an actor and he talks about his experience on the set. He likes Toby Huss, but everyone is amazing and relaxed on the set. He hasn't met Lee Pace yet and he doesn't know if he will. He appears in 8 episodes and so far he is listed in the first 5 episodes. I wonder if the last 2 episodes might be again at Comdex. I think the writers played with the idea to let each season end with Comdex similar to State on Friday Night Lights.

He also talks about the marketing problem of the show. He mentions bad marketing very often. He thinks season 2 will be much bigger than season 1 and a lot of people didn't even know about season 1 and they will do a lot more marketing before season 2.

Oh, and the name Amit is Hebrew and his character smokes. I like how the coders all have different backgrounds, they are a fun bunch. Arki is Russian.
