While I like that they're trying to come up with a science based reason for Nick to be able to see Wesen, what do you bet the doctor in question never even sends a note to a medical journal about meeting a guy with more cones than they've ever heard of?
Although, she might be assuming this is one of those cases where a person has a double formation of something even though there doesn't seem to be a genetic cause--that is, Nick had an extra formation of the normal cones rather than a different kind of cone. The known cases of four eye coned women are carriers of color-blindness, so there aren't any guys developing that trait from that gene. If that were the case, Nick might not have any unusual vision but might be more prone to eye related problems--the duplicate cones would be crowded in and might be malformed or overload a system designed for three. I also wish I knew enough about medical stuff to know if this is crazy talk or something sensible on my part. |
