I am sure there is, but her realization comes directly from the finale. She assumed she would have the seat. Not knowing Christina made her own plans for the seat the shares. And given I rather this story then her ethically putting her career at risk like she did with the treatment of the boy, and yet getting by with barely of a slap on the wrist. It shows that Christina's departure has consequences...

I would think Christina's wishes supercedes any other wishes. But there could be a battle for the seat. Although Alex also has Christina's shares, so it's not just the board seat he has...

I think I heard Alex will wrestle with if this is what he truly wants. He might let Bailey have the seat but keep the shares... Although that would be troublesome so he might wish to keep both.

Of course technically he left the hospital. So the question if he's not officially back at the hospital yet can he still have Christina's seat and shares... But then he has them in his hands with Christina's wishes.
