^i agree. mostly because no matter what couple has the baby, i feel like it's not going to sit well with half the fanbase.

While a baby at this point wouldn't make a lot of sense, I do not want this to be one of those shows that crams a load of weddings and babies into the final season just to give everyone a happily ever after at that point.

A Callie/Mark baby would be interesting and he'd definately be entertaining to watch struggling with fatherhood, plus Addison aborted his baby so I do think he'd warm to the idea very quickly and not want to screw it up this time around.

Well, some shows put pregnancies in the last season because babies are difficult to have onset in front of the camera- they don't want to be doing it for years.

^In terms of relationship drama, GA has never been very one-of-a-kind. It pulls out all the usual, predictable stops with MD (I think Addison showing up was the only thing that was remotely near a curveball in the storytelling). Neither AI or GI were that creative either. It's all on-off crap, and who cheats on who, and who has a love/hate tension. I'm not trashing the show here, I just think it's never been that original. It has enjoyable characters, with interesting interactions-- but not original scenarios. Most of what they do, especially in the relationships department, has all been done before, numerous times, by numerous other shows.

Yeah, they aren't easy to work with. They drastically limit the character(s) they're tied to. There are a lot more negatives about working a baby into a show than positives, considering the positives are generally just a few fluffy/cute scenes. Babies may be great in real life, but they don't make for very entertaining television.

I could see them making it work with Callie since she's a secondary character (as opposed to someone like Meredith who, as the lead, can't afford to be tied down to baby storylines at this point in the show), but would rather they not go there just yet. And I do agree watching Mark struggle with fatherhood is a good potential storyline for him. But Callie has enough on her plate as is.

Basically, I don't think a baby is a good for Callie's storyline right now. It would be interesting for Mark, but he's the only character I think a baby storyline could be good with at this point and, unfortunatley, it takes two to make a baby.

Babies are also so unpredictable- you can't make a baby act, lol. If the baby starts crying, the baby starts crying and you're just going to have to wait until he or she calms down.

Usually when that happens I think they just replace the baby with a doll and keep the face out of camera so people don't notice, hence why in TV the "babies" are heavily wrapped in blankets.

I think it could work. It's working fine with Bailey's baby and managing to keep her character balanced. Plus there'd be the nine months of pregnancy first, before it came to worrying about a baby. And it would definitely be a wake up call for Callie - she's off kissing her new girlfriend, then she finds out she's pregnant and everything isn't so easy and harmless anymore. There's serious things to consider.

I think it could work. But right now we don't even know if it's definitely happening, so either way I don't mind.

This was the side i was looking for since is the one ITA with...

I say differente not on the stories or predictions but exactly because of this:
Quote:
on-off crap, and who cheats on who, and who has a love/hate tension
reunited in one single show... that happens in a hospital where people show be professinoal and focused... that what i mean with different... cause if you look for example at ER, the "mother" of modern medecine shows they don't go that far...

Right, the one gimmick of Grey's is that it's all the usual relationship drama that every show has in spades, but set in a hospital. ER was more about the medicine, as is House in my understanding (though I've only seen a couple episodes of it).

But I am confused, are you saying it's original to have on-off, love/hate, who cheats on who, reunions, all in one show? Because I'm pretty sure you can find most, if not all, of those things in every prime-time drama, as well as every daytime soap. And there's always General Hospital. That's a soap, right? I've never watched. But if it is, I imagine it has everything Grey's has, except the comedy... which has been lacking a bit lately on Grey's too. But I think maybe they'll succeed in getting some of that back next season, even if I don't see the show getting anywhere near as good as it was in season 2.

well you can, but I say it is different to have it in a medicine show with this mood, you know... you being expecting it and not being chocked, and plus what you meantioned, the comic whit of it (although yes, they kinda lost the S2 sparkle and I don't see it coming back the exact same way).
As for other medicine shows, Er is the drama, House the flamboyant, and i don't know general Hospital. My country doesn't really have the tradition of transmitting daytime soaps...
What I mean by different is that all the on-off, love/hate, who cheats on who, reunions that usually are portrayed with a moral smirk, here are seen as normal, as natural, it's the tone, the mood that makes it different...
