GREEK S&S #10: Because Cappie and Casey are FINALLY together!

3x10 - Friend or Foe

THE ANSWER VIEWERS HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR…
WILL CAPPIE AND CASEY GET BACK TOGETHER AT LAST?
FIND OUT ON THE MID-SEASON FINALE OF “GREEK,”
PREMIERING MONDAY, NOVEMBER 2 ON ABC FAMILY

Nora Kirkpatrick (“Dorm Life”) Returns as Panhellenic President Katherine,
And Oleysa Rulin (“High School Musical 1, 2 and 3”) Guest Stars as ZBZ Pledge Abby

Burbank, CA (Monday, October 12, 2009) – In the “Greek” mid-season finale episode, viewers find out the result of Cappie’s talk with Casey from the previous episode. Will the two finally get back together? And if so, what does it mean for Cappie and Evan’s friendship. Will Ashley be supportive? Tune in for an all new episode of the ABC Family hit series “Greek,” Monday, November 2, 2009 (9:00 – 10:00 PM ET/PT). The episode, entitled “Friend or Foe,” was written by Roger Grant and directed by Michael Lange.

The episode is full of competition and rivalry on the Cyprus Rhodes campus. One of the biggest blue ribbon competitions – Songfest – is approaching and the ZBZs are determined to win. But Panhellenic president Katherine (Nora Kirkpatrick) offers Casey a VP position – forcing Casey to choose between furthering her position in Panhellenic or helping the ZBZs win. Katherine throws a
second curveball to the ZBZs by disqualifying their dance the night before the competition. ZBZ pledge Abby (Oleysa Rulin) offers to save the day by choreographing an all new dance. Will they make it work and win the competition?

And the Omega Chi and Kappa Tau rivalry heats up when the OXs fill the KT house with crickets. Cappie and Evan launch a plan in hopes of uniting their houses – but will it bring them together or push them even further apart? Meanwhile, Rusty and Dale are feuding over their science projects and decide the best way to settle the score is a good old fashioned battle bots competition.

--------

The Nov. 2 finale on ABC Family finds the sororities squaring off in a song-and-dance competition, and features tweaked versions of KC & the Sunshine Band's "Get Down Tonight" and Cobra Starship's "Good Girls Gone Bad." The event hits a sour note with "a prank gone awry that leads to the expulsion of some beloved characters," teases exec producer Sean Smith. "Oh, and we burn down a house, too." Top that, Glee!

Well, Cappie hates Evan now! Lots of hostility. Casey is mad at Evan, too. Looks like there is also a lot of Cappie/Rebecca and Casey/Evan interaction in this particular episode. In the Cappie and Rebecca scenes, she teases him about being in love. So I"m assuming with Casey! He sounds happy and cheery. Cute! Cappie tells her that he wants for her to be happy and in love, too. Rebecca talks to Cappie about Evan without mentioning his actual name. She gets advice from him. She wants to know if she should date him. When he tells her to go for it, she tells him that it's Evan. And well, Cappie tells her that Evan is bad news. That it's a horrible idea to date him. It's obvious that Cap hates him now. Also, seems like Rebecca and Cappie are in the same class. Then you get some Casey and Evan scenes. He catches up to talk to her. But she is mad at him. SO he asks if just because Cappie is not speaking to him, she also has to not speak to him. Another hint that Cappie and Casey are a couple now. Whether if Cappie hates him, she has to hate him, too. Weird scene because Casey explains that they were all friends finally but then Evan had to screw it all up. Evan claims SHE screwed it up.

There's a Rusty/Ashleigh scene. Read about it here.

First of all, looks like Ash has a NEW love interest, Pete. Some scenes of them talking and bonding. She tells him about her bad luck with guys. He tells her that she is not the only one who has been hurt. Cute stuff.

Anyway, it's morning. Cappie is at the ZBZ house, having breakfast with Casey and Ashleigh at their table. He compliments the good food saying that at the Kappa Tau, all they have is cereal and cereal. And how he now should walk Casey to school every morning. CUTE stuff. Also, I think he is wearing her bunny slippers or something like that. Also, it could be that he spent the night there.

THEN we get Omega boys appearing at the ZBZ house out of nowhere with the leader, Evan. They want for the ZBZ to join forces for the soccer game. Cappie rolls his eyes. Cappie and Evan stare each other down. At one point, Cappie even throws a brownie at Evan but misses him by a lot. Evan asks why the girls would want to unite with Kappa Tau's with their bad sport skills. Cappie explains that the girls will unit forces with his house. He asks first.

Casey whispers to Ashleigh that Kappa Tau's did ask first. She's kind of pushing for Cappie's house. Ash makes a joke that they can't only unite with the house from which Casey's current boyfriend is in. Ash asks all the other girls to vote for Omega or Kappa Tau.

Looks like a Casey Campaign episode basically with her following her dream to possibly going to work in Washington after graduation.

We get a good amount of Casey and Rebecca interaction. She introduces Casey to a 30 year old lawyer who used to work with Rebecca's father.

Anyway, there is a misunderstanding. He ask for Casey to come upstairs. And she misunderstands it to mean that he wants to sleep with her. So she tells him off in front of others, then realizes that he invited a TON of people to come upstairs to discuss something to do with a job.

Anyway, Casey wants to make an impression because she assumed that she had a chance at a good job in Washington. But then, the guy explains that there are no positions for her yet. She has to get more education and experience before going to Washington.

So apparently, Casey earlier in the episode tried to talk to Cappie about possibly going to Washington right after graduation. And well, we all know that Cappie does not want to lose her. So he sort of avoided the subject with her.

Anyway, she tries to talk to him about it again. But he still avoids that possibility. Then Casey tells Rebecca what is going on in that aspect. They are at Doblers. Rebecca joins Evan for a drink and tells him about what is going on. AND of course, Evan has to right away come up to Cappie who is getting drinks for himself and Casey and let Cappie know an "I told you so." Evan says that looks like Cappie is already screwing things up with Casey. Cappie says that an individual talking to himself is a sign of insanity. Meaning, Cappie is not talking to Evan. Evan then says that he TOLD him that this is what will happen. That Casey will leave after graduation. And that Cappie will be left alone. As Evan leaves, Cappie thinks about how it would feel to lose Casey again.

Cappie comes over to Casey and says that he wants to talk about Washington. This is after Casey misunderstood the guy's intentions about going upstairs. So she tells Cappie that it's no longer an issue.

And at the end of the episode, the guy explains to Casey that she needs more education and experience before leaving to Washington. So Casey is NOT going to Washington after graduation.

There is also Dale and Ashleigh interaction. LOTS of it.

Basically Rusty's with Calvin (who's talking about Grant drama) and says he wants a date on Valentines Day, which is two days away, so he's going to find one. He sees a cute rehead and asks her out, and then gives her a candy his mom sent him which turns out to be an x-rated brand she sent him by accident, so girl calls him a perv and runs off.

Then there's another scene with Casey/Rusty/Cappie in a hospital, and Casey/Rusty are fighting. They're waiting for someone called Katherine, who Rusty has a crush on, and must have something to do with the sorority fire because Casey says after this and the fire she'll think they're trying to kill her. Katherine comes out, and she was apparently shot by a blunt cupid's arrow. She calls Rusty adorable so he's happy. Dale pops up too after him and some girl having an accident at Camp Celibate Good Times.

More casting calls for 3x16, Your Friends and Neighbors via SpoilerTV.

Quote:
[PROFESSOR TOM HILGENDORF] In his mid 40s, an amiable man with unkempt hair, wearing a beard and glasses, Tom is a music historian, a professor at the college who has moved in next door to the KT House. A married man with a 16 year old daughter, Tom quickly regresses to a pool-playing, headbanging, hard-drinking kid -- until he spots his daughter at a frat party and instantly regains his adulthood...GUEST STAR

[MARGIE HILGENDORF] 40s FEMALE - An affable working mom and wife to Tom Hilgendorf, a CRU professor. Margie is a new neighbor to the KT House, and she pretty much just wants them to clean up the assorted tons of crap that's been dumped in her yard during the last 20 years...CO-STAR

[HANNAH HILGENDORF] 18 or legal 18 to play 16 (emancipated is ok). FEMALE, the daughter of Tom and Margie Hilgendorf, a cute, fun-loving high school student who loves crashing college parties...CO-STAR

[DEWEY] 18-19 MALE, a freshman pledge at the KT House, with neither the brightest mind nor the hardest body...POSSIBLE RECURRING CO-STAR; PLEASE SUBMIT ALL ETHNICITIES

[SUNNY] 20-22 FEMALE - Casey's Freshman year roommate, Sunny is just like her name: cheerful, shining, perpetually upbeat, maddeningly perky...CO-STAR; PLEASE SUBMIT ALL ETHNICITIES
Looking at the updated sides, it looks like the Prof. Tom Hilgendorf storyline is going to work against Casey & Rusty helping Cappie with choosing a major. After partying with the KT's, the professor goes back to his life as a dad and professor. He talks to Cappie about appreciating college life and having fun while he still can because once you leave college, things aren't the same and you can't go back. This strikes a cord with Cappie. Rusty originally works to get the two of them together, hoping the professor will give Cappie academic advice. It seems to backfire and Rusty's not thrilled.

Oh yeah, I forgot to post the extra info about the new script side.

Casey comes to see Cappie at the KTT house and sees Cappie's "party goer" career adviser! Rusty actually covers for Cappie. When Casey says, "Please don't tell me that is Cappie's new career adviser." Rusty replies, "No, that's Pickels' dad!"

Cappie sees Casey and kisses her. Says hello. Then rushes to help the "party" adviser.

I do get the sense that Cappie DOES learn something from this adviser.

From TV Guide - Greek's Spencer Grammer: The Casey-Cappie Coupling Won't Be a "Boring Love Story" - Today's News: Our Take | TVGuide.com

Quote:
Greek's Spencer Grammer: The Casey-Cappie Coupling Won't Be a "Boring Love Story"

Nov 1, 2009 10:00 PM ET
by Robyn Ross

When the Greek mid-season finale airs (Mon, 9/8c on ABC Family), viewers will see what transpires after Casey and Cappie finally locked lips in the penultimate episode. Spencer Grammer, who plays Casey, told TVGuide.com that she hoped the kiss was "as rewarding for everyone as we were trying to make it." So what else can we expect down the road for Cappie (Scott Michael Foster), Casey and her ZBZ girls? Grammer tells us what's in store at Cyprus Rhodes, why she doesn't want Casey and Cappie to become a "boring love story," and how a Greek house burns down.

TVGuide.com: Last week's episode ended with Casey and Cappie finally kissing. I can't imagine they'll get off so easily in the finale.
Spencer Grammer: It's difficult because they've rekindled the friendship with Evan and [are] trying to make it OK with everybody [who] they've dated. It's definitely a challenge between them, but I think that they're really good problem-solvers and creative, funny and intelligent, so they can work it out pretty well.

TVGuide.com: And Casey has some other decisions to make in the finale?
Grammer: Casey's got to figure out, does she go with Panhellenic or is Katherine [Gamma Psi member and Panhellenic president] trying to sabotage them? Ultimately you see what she chooses.

TVGuide.com: And what about Casey and Katherine's rivalry during Songfest? (Watch ZBZ's performance here.)
Grammer: Gamma Psi has become the No. 1 house. We have songfest and they take away ZBZ's really great dance, so we have to come up with [a new one] at the last minute. Casey's a pretty good dancer. It was so much fun [and] so traditional — something I definitely missed in my college experience.

TVGuide.com
: The second half of this season premieres Jan. 25. Can you preview some of what's to come?
Grammer: There was a house that burnt down, so figuring out who's at fault for that. I'm not going to say which house, but it could've been an accident, it could've been on purpose. We have a softball game against Gamma Psi and you continue to see that rivalry grow.

You're going to see more of Casey and Cappie together and how they navigate their relationship. To me, it was really important that the characters stay themselves in some ways. All the seasons you've seen them in, they've been these interesting characters and really honing in on who they are as individuals. I wanted to make sure that they didn't fall into that "we're just falling in love" boring love story [and that] they stayed those super funny, charismatic and witty characters with each other.

TVGuide.com: Who would you like Casey to be with when the series eventually comes to an end?
Grammer: I want Casey to be with Cappie, [but] the struggle with Cappie is that he's the eternal Peter Pan. Will he be able to keep up with Casey and her drive and motivation to have a career? It's such an interesting perspective on relationships. Nowadays you find... a lot of women are making more money than their male counterparts. It's similar to the Casey-Cappie relationship. She's on this politically driven path. Is she going to struggle with being in love with this guy and maybe taking care of him because he hasn't really found his way just yet? Can they grow together as a couple? I think that's going to be the struggle that we see toward the end of the last 10 [episodes]. That will be something I deal with internally as a character.

TVGuide.com: How has Casey changed since the pilot?
Grammer: Casey [is] more comfortable with herself and she's OK with the fact that she does things badly sometimes. In the beginning, she tried to shy away from who she was, and I think [now] she's more accepting.

Moving on...

Oh, I get the sense that he learns something but it's not what Rusty and Casey would want to hear. Rusty is a bit put off by this 40-something dad partying with the frat guys, while Cappie thinks he's awesome. The professor seems like he's giving him an excuse to stay just where he is because the good times are over once he leaves college.

For the record, this is the type of conflict that's organic to me and needs to happen given who Cappie has always been as a character. Spencer references above that Casey's going to have to deal with the fact that Cappie really hasn't found his way yet and that's going to impact her as a character. If he's not quite ready to move on just yet, that makes sense. I prefer that to any third-party drama.

I agree w/ this. I would hate if they completely changed who Cappie was just to have it fit easier with his relationship with Casey. I'm glad that they are being true to the characters.
