| the thing is though, Dan is supposed to the the "male lead" so apart from angsty DS stuff he needs something else to do.. | |||

| Things can change, but apart from DS angst, I think Dan will have his struggling writer story line and might have a little somethin' somethin' with Vanessa. __________________ "I want to know what your face feels like when you smile." .:Jane & Lisbon:. (icon) | |||

| The actors could change their status, when GA started KH wasn't as recognized as she is now. And last year she changed her status through negotiations. We can't say if Chace becomes more important. If NS get together, DV is more than a possibilty | |||

Then of course I have no idea who will end up with whom in the end, but as far as relationships are concerned, I find a much more balanced and how can I say.. equal relationship between Serena and Nate than I ever will between Serena and Dan. Not to mention I see a lot more chemistry between Serena and Nate than Serena and Dan, but that may be due also to the fact real-life couples hardly ever translate well on screen. And to the fact Dan has been made an incredibly dull character when he's with Serena. I like them separately, I find them boring together... and of course that entirely depends on the writing. I sure take Josh's words as Nate and Serena being IT, but that doesn't mean things can't change in the future. I guess we'll see. I agree the buildup and how it happens will be fundamental. And I can't wait.. must admit I'm really happy we'll get them smooching right at the beginning of the season (even if it's just to make Catherine jealous). I am curious to see how that plays out. Given their chemistry, it should be an interesting scene. ![]()

| I don't want to bash, but I want more UES life than Brooklin. I can totally like NS, if the writing is good. And this is interesting also from a CB' s pov. | |||

| ROFL! Ignoring Brooklyn (even though I live there) for the win! ![]() And I definitely agree that I see more equality between Nate/Serena than I ever saw in Nate/Blair or Dan/Serena. The thing is... CB, NS, DV... It's all so stable. That's exactly how I think the couples would work out in real life. Which makes me wonder: what are the obstacles? I mean, I know that CB's personalities give them an infinite opportunity to break up and make up, but I feel like whenever NS finally get together (or DV get together) nothig short of not being in love could break them apart... __________________ "I want to know what your face feels like when you smile." .:Jane & Lisbon:. | I loved Brooklin too, when I was in NY. But in the show it's plain annoying and out of the spirit of the show I think Josh will keep uncertain till the end the endgames between DS and NS, DV and NV. This is why I tend to believe CB will be stable | |||

| I definitely agree that CB have taken the coveted IT couple position, while NSDV/VNSD/DVNS/SDVN will be forever in flux. It works out perfectly that way, sort of. CB have enough problems on their own to last the whole series, whereas each of the individual other couples are just happy until someone else threatens them. And I'm moving back into my dorm in the Upper West Side come September, I'm just living in Brooklyn for the summer. __________________ "I want to know what your face feels like when you smile." .:Jane & Lisbon:. | How I envy you... I live in a small city in Spain and I hate it!! I want to live in Brooklyn! I don't mind as long as I live in NY! or somewhere in the US! I think I could love NS if they are build up nicely... __________________ They say if it doesn't kill you it'll make you stronger. Nothing compares to you. Brooke & Lucas | |||

But I do agree that once they get together, nothing short of not being in love could break them up. Same applies to Dan and Vanessa, who too have a relationship that stands on much more equal ground than Dan and Serena do. And that's not to say that someone from Brooklyn can't have a relationship that stands on equal ground with someone from the Upper East Side... it's THIS specific someone that doesn't work IMO. I can't ever see Dan and Serena having a relationship that stands on equal ground like the one between Serena and Nate would. It's because of the specific people involved, not because Dan lives in Brooklyn. If he had a different character, there would be no problem. But he's really always judgemental with the Upper East Siders and very critical of their life.. and goes from putting Serena on a pedestal to considering her unworthy, that is not basis for a healthy relationship IMO. Of course things can change, Dan's character can evolve so who knows, but from what we've seen so far, this is how I perceive it. I really think that this whole sudden Vanessa reappearance in the middle of Nate's affairs may lead to her being with Dan... jealousy builds at first as Serena and Nate get closer.. and then Vanessa gets with Dan, so it's Nate and Serena dealing with new feelings seeing them together. Just an idea, but are we sure that the White Ball is epi 2? Because... if it's instead epi 3, this scene with Vanessa and the elevator could be right after she sees Nate kiss Serena. I seem to remember she's going to be at the White Ball, so if Dan sees Nate kiss Serena, she may see that kiss too. And then she may see Nate speak with Catherine. So they may have agreed to be friends, but Vanessa sees all this and goes "I'm done. for good". Because she disagrees with Nate's conduct. And Catherine who HAS indeed been made jealous by the kissing goes to Nate and hands him the hotel key card. This would explain it all. That's why I was asking about the White Ball.

| White Ball happens near the end of Episode 1, before the DS sex scene. So I don't think that's what leads to the hotel key incident, since there's an episode in between. And I agree its not Brooklyn vs UES that's the problem. I think that NV would have been a very stable couple, too, just because both characters are so chill when they're together. __________________ "I want to know what your face feels like when you smile." .:Jane & Lisbon:.
