This might sound kind of cheesy, but I was thinking that the "theme" for the episode was "growing up"--with the 3 stories of Lane/Zach, Lorelai/Chris, and Rory. L/Z were going on about being parents, finally, and having to make their own decisions; L/C kept on talking about their shared adolescence (there was a point to that, other than to emphasize their shared history), and Lorelai's comment about not wanting to leave Paris, and wishing they could be that way forever really struck me. I still think she and Chris both are hanging on to the idea/fantasy of finally getting together and being a family together--something they couldn't do at 16...it is the idea they are enamored with, even though they may genuinely love each other in their own way. I believed Lorelai when she said ILY to Chris, but she did have doubts about getting married so soon, that was also clear to me. So in that sense, Chris and Lorelai have yet to see their relationship from their "present" eyes, not from their 16-year-old eyes (their return to SH will begin their awakening, I think).

And Rory of course. I am much less frustrated now than before I had watched the episode, because I could finally hear and get her saying she was "standing at the edge of a cliff/abyss with a ton of fog" in front of her. She always knew where she was headed, but I guess being a senior in college on the verge of graduation is a whole different bag. Chilton and journalism and Yale were plans she had charted out with her mother since she was 2, but now she has to make her own decisions. And it can be mind-boggling, especially if your boyfriend is already out there in the thick of his career. Part of what may be confusing and constraining Rory is her relationship with Logan, because she needs/wants to plan her future in the context of that relationship, the long-term-ness of which she is uncertain of as yet.

Marty was just weird. And the way he was looking at and touching Lucy seemed kind of "off"...

I concur with every single word of this post. Nothing further to add.

And Marty is still in love with Rory. Or in DSR's words, he's "still carrying a torch".
I'm shocked, perplexed, dumbfounded and utterly amazed; shocked I tell you!

That's what I thought as well. Still some questions remain: Who threw the glove?
Where will Kirk open the betting agency and will any of the townies bet a Cent on Chris?

i've been thinking about when Luke sees the ring, and I think my heart will break for both of them. She'll be so heartbroken to see him see it, and he'll be sad to see it. I don't think he'll be mad, just more sad than anything. But when will this be? Ep. 8 if she actually helps him? because I figure that if it's not ep. 8 then Luke would find out from the town in ep. 9, right?

And Luke helping Emily? What gets Luke to the hospital so that he can help Emily? And how will emily react to her daughter's ex-fiance being there in the first place, then being better to her than her son-in-law? this will be interesting.

And they did cut a lot out of ep. 7. The "I don't want to wait either" in the hotel room was gone, all of CL walking around paris, and the bench kiss, the scenes that were just filmed like two weeks ago... they probably never really knew how they wanted to portray all the CL stuff, or were leaving their options open for some reason...

I really could imagine him writting down betting quotes!!!!

But who the glove threw - thats a very interesting question.
Particularly because it doesn't look like if Lorelai would witness it!

Re George 111 post and quote included, I concur with it mostly, although there is something about having Lorelai and Chriss marry just for it to end sadly that bothers me. They are so so bland together, so alike and so sibling like, that it just strikes me as creepy and dysfunctional so I'm having a hard time seeing it as growth. Plus I just don't see enough rational for either Lorelai or Christopher to be living in the past. Maybe Christopher because he screwed up being a Dad to Rory (but is in fact cheerfully doing the same with Gigi) but what's Lorelai so nostalgic about? Lorelai didn't enjoy her life before she took off with Rory and made a good life for herself, I'm missing the big regret here because she had plenty of past opportunity to get together with Chriss etc. And again, if they just marry, don't make it, be sad, where's the growth? Maybe they'll stay together and work it out, but if so I bet it's with a possible break up cliff hanger set up just like the Luke Lorelai break up just to yank the fan's chain. Much as I prefer Lorelai and Luke, it would have been nice to have a happy wedding with at least some potential future, not two siblings neuroticaly clinging to eachother.

Tazzded, I hope you are feeling better!

I have my connection back (well it was semi-down ...) !!! It was all sorts of messy for a bit, but Craig helping out, well helped a lot!

I personally loved the whole epi. I love what Secret Life just posted about it. And yeah I agree! Oh I am so liking Zack ... I'm loving that dude!

ETA you are all very welcome!

Mel had the theory that Lane maybe had her babies and Luke's in hospital to visit her and then runs into a hysterical Emily. And it's the only scenario that works, imo. Why else should he help her? He won't drive to Hartford, ring at her bell and say "Hey there, Emmy". The dislike came from both sides. Unless, he only does it to impress Lorelai. And as much as I dislike him, I think he won't play such games.

And how should he be able to help her? Helping like running errands? Comforting her? But then it would've been comforts Emily.

Big mystery this.

And I still don't like it. It's so obvious that this sl is getting used to make Emily like Luke.

Of course they're going to turn her into a JJ You always complain about that Ems and Lorelai's relationship doesn't develope. Lorelai will chose Luke in the end and even Emily has to realize he's the better man for her. If she doesn't you will never get a good and healthy relationship between Em and Lorelai. Both have to finally realize that Chris is the same old deadbeat and 16 year-old who can't handle things in life and is totally wrong for the Gilmore Clan.

Alternate links for those who asked (rapidshare with megaupload to come, watch the third post). FYI, yousendit currently shows a "database error" message, so - oh, forget it, I'll just go back to staring at Gen's avi, lol.

Well, what's so wrong with that? It's time for Emily to stop judging people based on pedigree alone.
