I think it had more to do with Rory going to an Ivy league school, and fulfilling her dreams, than fear she'd never find love or romance. Lorelai shelved her dreams when she got pregnant with Rory, but we can't say she lived life as a cloistered nun afterwards. All we know is she kept that side of her life away from Rory -- sure, nothing stuck long-term, but it doesn't mean it was non-existent.

The DC is up... CL telling Rory about being married. Chris mentions that there's like a 90% chance that it's legal, they were looking at Lillies and it started to rain and it was beautiful and they saw a church and I think we know the rest. Rory says that she's happy for them. When chris goes to get some drinks, Rory gets a little bitter with Lorelai and says that's she's mad, but tells her they can't talk about this now because Chris will be right back and then Chris comes back in. The whole time Lorelai barely is smiling while Chris is grinning on a bunch. Lorelai only really seems to smile when talking about France and then when Rory says she's happy.

I also remember Lorelai making that statement about wanting Rory to have more than her when Rory dropped out of Yale. She didn't say this when Rory and Logan broke up, or Jess left SH or when she had an affair with Dean. It was in regard to her academic and career successes.

I am srue Lorelai wants Rory to find love and happiness, all mothers want that for their kids. She even spoke to her about being able to express love to another person and that she hoped she wasn't like her mother (well fat chance of that now lol).

But I still believe having more than Lorelai meant the Ivy League education and freedom to do whatever she wanted.

Katie I edited my post when I saw the change, I thought I read it wrong, but IMO an ANVIL for an easy out, it was not legal! Now when will we get the spoilers on this!
