Okee, I might not agree with the way you put anything related to Chris into words, but I do think that is/was exactly the point of ASP and now DR. There was this fantasy always lingering in the air, both Lorelai and Chris have been shown before to have this fantasy based on the past. The only way to get truely rid of that, is finding out ... and well they sure are getting to do just that!

It's funny how people change and adjust over time, all we can do is hope Luke does also and once C&L are over and Lorelai wins Luke back things will be back to normal.

I see you got plenty of help already, while I was watching the episode.

As far as I know, she's not a midwife at all (and we do see two women with Liz - I'm guessing the other is the midwife), but is there before, during and after the birth, for as long as the mother/couple need (and hire her for...) to give almost any support needed other than medical. I guess it used to be the village women in that position and nowadays it's very fashionable to hire one, even to accompany the mother & baby/couple in a hospital birth, not only for home births.

I'd love if this name chosen for the baby was an intentional anvil - esque, symbolic one, symbolizing support, comfort and advice for Luke during the decisions and fights he has awaiting him, and not just an afterthought by the writer to portray wacky TJ and Liz again.

'a woman who provides:
- advice: I think Luke decided to go to Anna to 'fight' her, after he saw Liz' and TJ's daughter.
- information: in the next episode, Luke and Lorelai with the baby outside of Doosey's and Christopher walks out, sees them and does not look happy.
- emotional support: [maybe that Luke felt he was strong enough to go to Anna]
- physical comfort: [euuh, blank]'

Maybe I'm waayy overthinking this.
