| Regarding the comparison between Daddy!Luke and Daddy!Chris, I do think the show is drawing comparisons between the two as fathers. I also believe this is what will split up L/C. Lorelai proposed to Luke when she saw how much Rory meant to him. There was also the conversation in the hospital where L/L talked about how they felt when their daughters were sick. That was a level of connection that Lorelai has never had with Chris. Contrast that to Chris not thinking of Rory when Lorelai does, i.e. getting married without her in Paris, and not asking Rory before moving the stuff out of her room. It is my spec that this comparison will be obvious by 7.13. I'm not saying this because I hate Chris. I am a JJ but have never hated him, although I have to admit that the L/C relationship has been hard to watch. I also am not saying it makes Chris an evil person. I think DR is making the comparison and Chris' lack as a father, and yes it is a lack, will be a defining factor in the L/C breakup. I believe Lorelai loves Chris. She seems to have genuine feelings for him in these eps. She and Chris connect in ways that she and Luke do not. However, she and Luke have a parental connection that I have never seen with Christopher. IMO, he just doesn't have that fathering instinct that Luke has, and that will be the defining factor. | |||
