and now i'm probably gonna be attacted for this, cause i'm such a bad person to call charming Chris with those nicknames.

Actually I am getting tired of calling Chris Dopey.

No need to insult a cute little Disney character.

Thanks Bella, and thanks to your scanner too!

Glad to give you a giggle, NOT! I know it's old news, but it is annoying to be a Rory fan and realize 90% of the people paid to watch and comment on the show do not even pay attention to and/or watch her parts of the show. And apparently that includes not only her romantic relationships, but her relations with her mom and g-rents as well. But all the facts are current in the L/L/C embruglio.

How is her playing the field going to affect someone that obviously doesn't watch her parts of the show to begin with? She's apparently not in school, and should get a job, and still not speaking to Lorelai. Um, hi, that was a year ago! Why would what this person thinks matter to me? Other than making me think they don't watch at least 1/2 the show.

Maybe it's just me, but that article from tv guide confused me. It seemed like they were confusing last season and this season and mixed them together. I didn't think that Rory and Lorelai were in a rift anymore and Rory isn't living off of her grandparents anymore. If that's been going on this season, I sure missed it.
These people don't watch the Gilmore Girls. They work for a TV magazine, have to write one-off articles about random TV shows, and they probably peruse the internet, skimming websites that haven't been updated in a year, to pick up information.

What matters is that it gets printed, appearing to be authoritative, and that's what matters.

Hmmmm.

Seriously, this thread isn't united about anything (well, maybe against the Aerie Girls).

I personally am extremely hostile to Christopher, for very specific reasons that I'm willing to post again but I suspect everyone's bored with them by now.

I'm not hostile to anyone who actually likes Christopher, especially when they have reasons. There's a difference. But like everyone, I can only speak for myself.

Yes, he's a flawed character. Part of what I like about him is that he knows he's a screw up, but he trys again and again to make things right. Sometimes he falls short. Sometimes he tries too hard, like I suspect he will tonight, but his heart is in the right place.

There's alot more to him than looks to anyone willing to see past their couple preferences.. I like his banter with Lorelai, his obvious devotion to her, the guy is funny and sweet. He may not scowl at every living person on the planet, but his character his layered and real to me.
I do disagree with you about him trying so hard. He's a certain personality type, and he's trying to get what he wants - yes, in a way everyone does - but he's particularly self-centered and myopic about the effect on others.

I'm not putting that very well - but take Rory. He's spending time with her, finally, and that's great. But is he bothering to get to know her. This season, I keep remembering Lorelai's question, "Have you met your daughter?"

Somehow it seems like he's trying to play father but not really paying attention to his actual daughter, to who she is.

Most of all, I don't see a real redemption or change in him. He's around, but that's about it. There's been no real realization or working through his past neglect. He briefly noticed what he'd missed in 706, and shrugged it off again. I know Lorelai gave him an out, but it's still his responsibility, his relationship with his oldest daughter.

I'm not surprised that Rory will take what she can get, that's typical of most children, especially when a parent has been absent or otherwise neglectful.

Bah - most of all, I wish we'd seen more of the Rory storyline, the father/daughter story, in all this. Whatever the writers did with L/C.

His behaviour in Partings is also contrary to my personal ethics but others may and do differ. To me, he was wrong whatever Lorelai said or did (doesn't make her right, btw, but she was distraught). But since the show continues to not bother letting the audience in on what happened that rather significant night, it's hard to discuss because we go round the trees of 12 different theories. It's an important omission, because doesn't it affect the L/C relationship now?

i thought i read it wrong, but obviously someone still doesn't know that R&L are speaking from 6.09 (it was 6.09, right?, i'm a bad fan).
maybe he though that they are not speaking that much as they were before. maybe that was his point.

It takes a special man to screw his best friend while she is heartbroken and lonely. What a selfless act on his part .

Not if it's in a super or retirement fund when people need many times that to retire comfortably today. I just don't feel that $30k is that much savings (if it was) for someone of Luke's age. I know Kirk is an extreme example but he has 1/4 mil saved.

I just like things like that explained better and ASP dropped the ball a number of times and DSR is doing the same.

What if Luke does have the ring and when it's over with Chris and the time is ready he gives it back as the "right" ring, too sappy or bad form to use a used ring?

Well, he also seems to think that Rory's still living off her grandparents and should get a job and support herself. That's also last season.

WHAT!?! I love the aerie girls. They are so smart. It saves me from having to think about what is going on in the show. I can't believe you don't love them. /snark

And I actually ignored the bit about the grandparents, because my eyes rolled out of my head, when I saw it. I had to pick them up and put them back in to finish the article.

Yep some man she got herself

No wonder they work, they are both ME people and only when she hears from Luke does she think of someone else for the first time in months. [/snark]

It's not that he hasn't watched the show for over a year, he just Sookies all the non LL parts--except for Olivia & Lucy 'cause he knows their names!

I think they are a nice touch, a pity that the "dance off" scene was cut but I must say they are much better that Finn and Colin, it's about time she had some more girl friends.

ETA - saying that I wonder who will be around Lane when she pops sometime in Feb, just Zach and Mrs Kim, I hope not. Rory and Lorelai should be there. I had spec the her water breaks at the diner, maybe the snow is late and that are caught in a storm and Luke (with Kirk) has to deliver the baby
