Gilmore Girls Spoilers and Speculation #103

Hi everyone. I’d like to remind you all that this is the main Gilmore Girls spoiler thread, and as such, posters from various shipper groups are free to post here, so if you see someone saying something that you don’t like about “your” favorite character or couple, don’t start fighting with them on this thread, and don’t go into a Gilmore Girls shipper thread if you don’t like the couple that the shipper thread is for. People are free to criticize upcoming events on Gilmore Girls as they read the upcoming spoilers, but don’t use this thread as a free-for-all to bash any characters or couples that you don’t like, or their fans, or you’ll find that you’ll be deprived of the privilege of reading and speculating about Gilmore Girls spoilers again here. Thanks in advance for your anticipated cooperation.

Episode 7.09 – Knit, People, Knit
Airdate: November 28

Writer: David Grae
Director: Kenny Ortega

TheCW: STARS HOLLOW THROWS A "KNIT-A-THON" — When Christopher (David Sutcliffe) questions Lorelai (Lauren Graham) about why she has avoided involving him in the daily life of Stars Hollow, she admits her concern that her old friends may not accept him. Christopher makes an effort to bond with the townspeople, and Lorelai brings him to the town knit-a-thon, where his well-intentioned gesture brings the event to an early end. When Olivia (Michelle Ongkingo) throws a 2002-themed birthday party for Lucy (Krysten Ritter), Rory (Alexis Bledel) gets her chance to confront Marty about his coldness toward her. Finally, Luke (Scott Patterson) is touched by the birth of Liz (Kathleen Wilhoite) and T.J.’s (Michael DeLuise) baby, and when he learns that Anna (Sherilyn Fenn) is planning to move to New Mexico with April (Vanessa Marano), he demands equal rights as a parent. Liza Weil also stars. Kenny Ortega directed the episode written by David Grae.

TVGuide:Stars Hollow prepares for a knitathon and Lorelai, who's participating, worries that the townsfolk aren't ready to accept her and Christopher as a couple; Anna stuns Luke when she tells him that she and April are moving to New Mexico; Rory and her friends throw Lucy a 2002-themed birthday party, where Rory finally confronts Marty about his indifference toward her; and T.J. tells Luke that Liz, who's ready to give birth at any moment, wants to have the baby at home.
  • From Katie: Miss Patty gives Chris a 'welcome wagon' full of stuff from local businesses. She and Babette are polite, but they are not exactly warm and friendly. Chris thinks it went well, but Lorelai senses the tension and isn't happy. Luke sees them from the diner, and it hurts to see them together.

Episode 7.10 - Merry Fisticuffs
Airdate: December 5

Writer: David Rosenthal
Director: Jackson Douglas

TheCW: LUKE AND CHRISTOPHER COME TO BLOWS — Luke (Scott Patterson) and Lorelai (Lauren Graham) share a sweet moment when Luke introduces her to Liz’s new baby. Christopher (David Sutcliffe) witnesses the scene and it adds to his concern that Lorelai isn’t fully committed to their marriage. The next day, Lorelai and Christopher get into a fight over whether they should exchange vows at the elaborate wedding party Emily (Kelly Bishop) is throwing for them. Luke contacts a lawyer over his custody troubles with Anna, then runs into Christopher and the two have an ugly confrontation in the streets of Stars Hollow. Meanwhile, when Logan (Matt Czuchry) discovers that Rory and Marty (Wayne Wilcox) have been pretending that they just met, rather than admitting their previous friendship to Lucy (Krysten Ritter), he reveals the truth to Lucy. Finally, Emily gives Lorelai a warning about her marriage. Sean Gunn also stars. Jackson Douglas directed the episode written by David Rosenthal.

TV Guide: Lorelai dreads each day that she meets with her mom and a prominent party planner in anticipation of the upcoming wedding party. Meanwhile, Lorelai and Christopher can't seem to agree on plans for their future, and she usually gets her way; Logan is in town and Rory takes him to the Yale cafeteria, where they run into Marty, and Rory explains the whole awkward reunion she had with Marty and their subsequent deception with Lucy; and Luke decides to talk to a lawyer about April.
  • From Miss_Ill_Manners on the WB Tour: Stars Hollow has christmas decorations up, but there wasn't any snow. The guide said she'd give us a spoiler if we wanted to know, and said they were filming in town later and Luke and Chris get into a fist fight.
  • From LittleCreek on the WB Tour: Filming in front of Doose's. Luke is walking along pushing a pink stroller. He disappeared behind the camera set up, but whatever goes down involves Lorelai and Chris because after a few minutes they walked off in the direction Luke had come from and Lorelai had her arm around Chris. Luke was wearing his green coat and the black hat.
  • From TWOP: The fight between Luke and Chris is a knock-down, drag out fistfight, not just one punch like 7.02.
  • From actress Ingrid Sanai Buron's web page: Christopher and Lorelai are looking for a house. Buron played the real estate agent. Cast sheets list Lorelai, Rory, Luke, Kirk, Logan, Emily (no Richard), and "Guest cast" of Christopher, Liz, Miss Patty, Anna, Marty, Lucy, Olivia, Caesar, Randall (the party planner), Brandon, Dennis, Jacob, Lawyer, Bonnie, Mrs. Hobert, Margaret.

  • From Ausiello: This episode marks a major turning point in the Luke/Lorelai/Christopher triangle. Apparently, Luke and Christopher choose to deal with Richard's health crisis in very different ways: Luke chooses to run around helping Emily, while Christopher chooses to go off and sulk about a bad fight he had with Lorelai. Cue the inevitable Lorelai epiphany.

Thanks Caf

But I do think Chris was not mad or felt threatened by Luke in the last episode. I mean he's so convinced he's Lorelai's man, that she loves him and everything. Every other guy was just the for now guy in his eyes. He's the one you know so why should he feel threatened by Luke. This will come up next week for the first time.

The fight between Luke and Chris is more than just they are pissed at each other because of Lorelai and jealousy. There's more behind it.

Thanks for the thread caf!!!

ITA Cappuccino!
There has to be a "verbal fight" before the fist fight (or something like that).
I do think that the fist fight is something "planed" - or aranged.
I can't imagine, that they see each other from the distance (both dressed up) and then concurrently think "take off the jacket and GO"!

Thanks caf

Jason - the reason for that reply on the last thread was, if we get S8 and if Rory is in NYC then it stands to reason that some of the time Lorelai will come to visits to keep the girls interacting. And if Lorelai is still with Luke (you never know with that girl ) then Luke might come also and we might finally get some stories of the day Luke took Lorelai to a ball game. Then again if she's with Chris again they might just go and buy out Tiffany's

If they're grown men, not 16-year-olds, there should be more behind it.

Christopher represents the life Lorelai ran away from. Luke represents Stars Hollow, the life she chose. If we have to descend to fisticuffs, I'm hoping the symbolism will hold. Kind of like the flash of Stars Hollow disappearing in the Paul Anka dream.

iamsher, Richard dying was one spoiler, no confirmation. Though I'm not sure what counts as "confirmation" this year when we've seen promo/DC scenes (I forget which) that turned into foilers not spoilers.

I sometimes think the only real confirmation is when an episode actually airs on-screen - or the hour before when we get your recap, lol.

If Lorelai learns one thing from this "journey" it´ll be that she realizes that she made the right decission 22 years ago......

Holly Sorensen ("Friends in Low Places") is writing the pilot script and executive producing with Graham and Kathy Ebel via their Warner Bros. Television-based Good Game Entertainment banner. As for specifics, it's understood the hour will mix the usual workplace antics with a procedural aspect in which each object's history is revealed over the course of the episode.

We know Luke is so from his part there is more behind it than just Chris being "married" to Lorelai or parading around town in front of his diner with her. Luke has to have a very good reason why he is so angry with him and why he wants to beat the crap out of him. If Chris just attacks him with stuff like: Yeah she's mine now take that burger boy. It's not going to affect Luke.

Thanks for the thread, Caf.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I don't think this has been brought over yet, from Ingrid Sanai Buron's web page:

Then I had an audition for a Guest Starring role on “Gilmore Girls”. Now this is one of my favorite shows. And it is very difficult to get on because it has a huge recurring cast – so there are not that many roles available. And I did have an audition once before -but I was not able to make it because I was filming another TV show. But it has been a while. And I do not know if this is the last year of the show or not – and I would love to be on the show - so the pressure was on!

When I went in to audition on the Warner Brothers lot I was very nervous. It was a great part of a very perky (and fast talking! This is “Gilmore Girls” after all) realtor. So I showed up early – because this was straight to producers. When I got there – one of the CDs (who I know from workshops) said she had kept pulling out my p&r over and over again – but was waiting to call me in for a great role. So that was a huge vote of confidence. But also pressure – because now I knew she really wanted me for the role and I needed to make her proud in the audition. I got a chance to do a quick pre-read with the other casting director. And before I knew it – it was time to audition.

There were a ton of people squished in a small room, including the director and some producers. It went well – I got lots of laughs. And one of the producers said “I would buy a house from you just because of your jacket (I was wearing a bubble gum pink tweed jacket that screamed perky realtor to me). As I left I noticed I was competing with about seven other women (and two of them had been series regulars on other tv shows!). But on the way home I got the call I booked the job!

Soon it was time to film. Before my filming day I went to the Warner Brothers lot for my costume fitting. And I found out from the costume designer that I was not filming on the WB lot – but at a house. Curses. That means I do not get to film on the WB lot again (for “Without A Trace” I had to film on location as well).

So the next day I was filming on location in a house in the Valley. Unfortunately, I was battling a cold. I woke up still feeling very sick and hoarse. I was guzzling tea, using a steam inhaler, sucking on lozenges – you name it. So when you see the show – I voice will sound a bit hoarse.

I got to the base camp and went to my trailer. I was then sent to the hair and make up trailer. I then got to meet Lauren Graham. She came in the trailer and said hello to me and shook my hand. She was just lovely.

We then had to go up to the house for a rehearsal. In the van I met David Sutcliffe (who plays Christopher). He was also incredibly nice. And I said hello again to the director, Jackson Douglas (who plays Sookie’s husband – Jackson.). He was also very friendly. We were shooting in this gorgeous house and it was very hot (it was almost 100 degrees! In November! ICK). But we got right to work rehearsing.

Then before I knew it – it was time to film. During all the filming I was not given any direction about my acting. So I just gave the same performance I did at the audition and hoped it was ok. I was also trying to not cough – which was a bit difficult. And I was sweating like crazy – since it was sweltering in the house and I was dressed in a wool coat (since the episode is set in December in Connecticut). But I got great feedback from the director and I even kept making David Sutcliffe laugh. Now that’s a compliment!

Then they had to do the reverse angle–where the camera would be on me for my close ups. So while waiting I had a nice long talk with David. He was so kind – saying what a great actor I am and that I should be on a series (if only!). I also chatted with Jackson – turns out he is from Seattle. So we talked about Seattle and how his career started. It was great – I was treated like an equal and had some wonderful conversations.

We then filmed my close ups. Lauren and David were squished by the camera – so while I was doing my lines I looked at them – and they were so adorable – I forgot my lines! It hit me how surreal this all was. So I said “I am so sorry – they were so cute – I forgot my lines!” That made everyone laugh. And a few more takes and I was done. Both David and Lauren came up to me and shook my hand and said I did a fantastic job. And then the director did the same. It was so nice to hear.

Then as I was walking back to the van to take us to base camp – a crew member ran up to me and grabbed my arm. She said “If I were you – I would want to know this. Everyone at the monitor said you were amazing and were thrilled with you”. Wow! I thanked her profusely for telling me. It is great to hear that everyone was happy with my performance. It is so nerve wracking coming on a show – I just wanted to do a great job.

Then in the van on the way back to base camp I sat next to Lauren and I told her I filmed a small part in her movie “Because I Said So”. So we then talked about that movie, and “Gilmore Girls”. She shared her thoughts on the changes this season and how in some ways it is better – some ways it is worse. It was great. She then thanked me again and said I did an amazing job and to be sure and stay for lunch.

So that was it! Altogether a wonderful experience.

This is as good as sides!! This scene is for 7.10 - Merry Fisticuffs.

L/C are looking for a house?!

Plus, go to "fun stuff" and she has cast sheets for that episode - though I think we already have more info than what's there.

Well at least we know MA was right when he said Rory would be okay with C&L, so that mean Luke is pissed and bottles it up for a while before something sets THEM off in ep 7.10.

Because that lady sure can hold a blaster.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING Y'ALL. Thanks there caf. Thanks.

Gjoni, that ****ing rocked. It totally ****ing rocked. Nice of that lady to share. But they are looking for a house? Yep. You know trouble is coming in a relationship that features Lorelai. When they start looking for a new place to live. Much like Monster House, you cannot seperate Lorelai the 2nd from that ****ing house. It's just not going to happen. Searching for a house...just makes the pain come quicker.

Finally, Cappa, go back and watch the end of the episode again. Chris has a very subtle but solid tell during the Luke part of his conversation with Lorelai. It's very very very telling as to his own insecurities in a rather Gilmore Girls sort of way.

ETA: Craig, I was mainly joshin'ya. Plus, I had to respond, because it literally made me laugh out loud. Good stuff. Good stuff right there.

Thanks gjoni for that, IMO maybe Chris want's the house and Lorelai doesn't, goes with the vows spoiler and what we know of Lorelai but who knows, maybe this is her way of making up? Then again we know she's still in the CS in ep 11 and IMO while they might be looking I doubt they will buy.

Jason sometimes it hard to tell if you're joking or not, how's the Kenny G CD collection going
