Amy Sherman-Palladino wrote the episode directed by Michael Zinberg From Jet1945 There is one 2 page Casting Side released today for Episode 5.10. The character's name is Emma. Episode 5.10 - Unnamed" Info taken from Sides in the Shooting Script 10/28/04 The information summarized below is taken from the 4 Sides published on 10/29/04 for Emma, Mrs. Thompson, Austin, Student. I will include context and stage descriptions where appropriate. Dialog and Stage Direction have been significantly blacked out through out all of the Sides.
Note: The character Emma is auditioning reading the part of Rory in script excerpts from Scene 7 from Rory's Dance, Episode 1.09. We have no actual Sides for this character for 5.10 Editor Note: Scene 14 starts approximately 2/3 down on page 33. The first part of page 33 contains blacked out parts scene 13 which has dialog between Rory and Logan. The character Anna is present. Exterior Stars Hollow - Day (Day 2) - Scene 14 - Stage Direction: Lorelai's Jeep is driving down the street.. Interior of Lorelai's Jeep - Continuous - Day (Day 2) - Scene 15 - Stage Direction: Lorelai notices something up ahead. As she drives by, through the window, she notices what looks like Luke arguing with an older woman in the driveway of a house. Lorelai pulls over and gets out of her Jeep. Exterior Stars Hollow - Continuous - Day (Day 2) - Scene 16 - Stage Direction: Luke is arguing with Mrs. Thompson. A sweet-faced older woman of about sixty-five. Lorelai is coming up the street toward them. Luke is arguing with Mrs. Thompson are about the fact that she has only given him 2 weeks notice. Apparently, Mrs. Thompson is selling her house and moving to Florida. Luke tells her to go and enjoy the weather. They have terrific hurricanes. Take a flashlight. About this time Lorelai rushes up. Luke asks her "What are you doing here?" Lorelai says that she was just driving by and thought she would stop and say hello. Lorelai apparently knows Mrs. Thompson because she says hello to her. Mrs. Thompson responds with a "Hello Dear." Lorelai asks what is going on and Luke tells her: "Nothing, Nothing's going on." Mrs. Thompson continues in telling Luke that she has rented the house and the new people have cars. Luke asks her if she just agreed to that? Mrs. Thompson said it seemed reasonable to her. Luke is now getting frustrated. Mrs. Thompson says to Lorelai that Luke is very upset with her. That Luke's father rented her garage because he was building a boat. When Luke's father died, Luke continued to pay the rent of the garage. Now that she was moving to a nursing home (in Florida) she needed him to move the boat. Lorelai turns to Luke and asks him: You're mad because a little old lady is moving to a nursing home and you have to move your boat? Is this the story you want to stick to?" Luke tells Lorelai that he has paid for the entire month. Mrs. Thompson offers to give him a partial refund. but, Luke is being Luke and ask just where is he supposed to find a place to store a boat on a moment's notice. Mrs.Thompson asks if they could sit down because the Doctor told her that she has a screw loose in her hip. Lorelai says that they can sit down and figure this whole thing out. Luke in a bit of a huff says: "I've got it figured out. Just haul it off. Trash it." Mrs. Thompson asks about hauling what off - Luke tells her the boat. Lorelai questions him to make sure. Luke tells her yes. Just scrap it. have them haul it away and cut it up for firewood. Mrs. Thompson asks who is going to haul it off. Luke tells her anyone. just have some guy with a truck and a hook. Strap it on and drive it away and to send him the bill. Stage Direction: Luke stomps off down the street. Lorelai follows after him. Mrs. Thompson stands in her driveway a little befuddled. Lorelai calls to Luke and turn to tell Mrs. Thompson that they will be right back. Luke stops and Lorelai catches up with him. Lorelai does her "What...What...What..." act. Luke tells Lorelai that he has been paying that woman every month for 15 years. Lorelai interrupts to tell him she is moving to a nursing home. Luke continues his rant saying that his father paid her every month before that for 20 years. Lorelai - "Nursing home, Luke." Luke tells her he knows where she is going. End of Side for Mrs. Thompson Assumption Interior of a Coffee Shop - Day (Day unknown) - Scene 19 - Editor Note: The scene is picked up in progress. There is 2/3 of a page of blacked out dialog between Marty and Rory. Stage Direction: Rory turns and sees that two guys have joined Anna at her table. Rory comments that she turns around for one minute. Stage Direction: Rory goes over to the table. Marty hangs back for a second to collect the cappuccinos. Rory approached the table. Rory interrupts Anna at the table. Anna tells Rory that Tommy and Austin were just telling her about a great party tonight. Rory is a bit of a snit responds with a Thank you - "Tommy and Austin, was it?" Austin tells her thats right. Rory comes back with "How geographical." She continues with telling them that their schedule is completely full at the moment but if it changes she know where to find them." Part of the dialog is blacked out here, but there is some quip about "if things lighten up and if she ages two years in the next three hours..." Stage Direction: The guys get up and head back to their table. Austin tell Rory as a parting shot that they're over here, just in case. Stage Direction: Anna smiles at him. The go back to their table. Marty heads over with the cappuccinos. Part of the middle of the Stage Direction was blacked out about when Austin gets back to his table. There is blacked out dialog between Rory, Anna, and Marty. Rory has a six line speech at the end. Then it follows: Stage Direction: Marty bristles at these words. Rory doesn't notice his reaction. End of Sides for Austin Editor Note: Scene 20 is picked up in progress right at the end. Assumption Interior - Rory's Common Room - Night (Night 2) - Scene 20 - Anna tells Rory Goodnight. Stage Direction: Rory exits into her room and closes the door. Interior - Yale Classroom - Day (Day 3) - Scene 21 - Stage Direction: Rory sits with Anna next to her. Anna has her eyes closed and is practically dozing from her lack of parental-induced sleep the night before. Professor Bell is lecturing. Professor Bell is lecturing apparently on philosophy because he is referencing Campbell's work on resolving the disparate stances of Jung and Freud when it comes to the collective unconscious. Stage Direction: Rory notices Anna dozing. She elbows her. Anna's eyes snap open. Rory tells Anna to pay attention. Professor Bell is one of the foremost philosophy professors in the country. Anna tells Rory she's sorry. Professor Bell asks a question of the students: "What's the primary difficulty that confronted Freud when he considered Jung?" A student responds that the presence of the archetypes bordered on being metaphysical. Stage Direction: Rory turns to Anna and nods and smiles like "did you hear that?" Anna weakly tries to keep her eyes open. Professor Bell tells the student that he is close enough. But that campbell can point to the repetition of the 'hero myth' in culture after culture and say 'Hey Sigmund, Like it or Not, here are the same basic characters over and and over...' Stage Direction: Colin comes bursting into the room. he's out of breath and looks upset. End of Side for Student Interior - Yale Classroom - Late Afternoon - Day (Day 3) - Scene 23 - Stage Direction: Twenty students sit at various tables around the room, each with a boy on one side of the table and a girl on the other. A moderator stands in the front of the room. The moderator explains that he'd like to welcome you all to today's speed dating session. Many of you have been with us before. Many of you are first timers. So for the latter group, here are the rules. Stage Direction: We reveal Paris sitting amongst the group, shifting around while uncomfortably eyeing the guy sitting across from her. The moderator continues his explanation - each couple will have one minute to talk and get a sense of the person across from them. When the bell rings, the women will get up and switch tables. Men, stay where you are. This will continue until every woman has met every man and after that, it's up to you. At the very least you should have an interesting experience. At best you might meet that special someone you've been waiting for. Are we ready? Then let the dating begin. Stage Direction: The moderator rings a bell. The couples fact each other and start talking. paris turns to the guy across from her. He introduces himself as Jack. Paris responds - Paris. Jack ask if her parents travel a lot. Paris asks why. Jack says - Your name is Paris. Paris comes back with: "No. Did your parents change flat tires a lot?" Jack doesn't follow and Paris continues asking if his parents plug the phone into the wall a lot. Jack tells her No. Paris says that's great and that they have cleared up that mystery and asks what's next on his list of fascinating talking points. Jack stumbles and ask what is your major? Paris begins her rant by asking if he is serious - he has one minute to make an impression and that is all he can come up with? Paris want to know if he wants her sign? How about a favorite color? Is Paris a Britney or a Christina? Paris finishes her rant by asking Jack if the last time he had an interesting though was when he was considering flinging himself off a building. Stage Direction: The moderator rings the bell. Paris leaves Jack telling him goodbye and the she will immediately write her mother. End of Side for character Jack Editor Note: The scene continues with Paris moving on. Stage Direction: Paris gets up along with all the other girls and goes to another table. She sits. The moderator rigs the bell. Paris turns to victim number two. Paris immediately starts by saying "Paris. And no my parents didn't travel." The guy responds - Billy and he has not idea what that means. Paris tells him to never-mind and asks what is his story. Billy tells Paris that he is a drama major... Paris immediately "Ding, Ding, Ding! End of Side for character Billy Editor Note: These are all the Sides at the moment. But we have two speaking parts for which we have not seen Sides. The characters of Anna and Professor Bell. We may get those in the near future. End of all Sides for Episode 5.10 - Unnamed ---------------------- Hiatus ---------------------- 5.11: airdate: Info taken from Sides in the Shooting Script 10/28/04The information summarized below is taken from the 7 Sides published on 11/9/04 for Professor Stanton, Girls #4 and #1, Tara, Bobby, Craig, A Scout. I will include context and stage descriptions where appropriate. Dialog and Stage Direction have been significantly blacked out through out all of the Sides.
Note: The children, Bobby, Tara, and Craig range in age from 10 to 14 years old. We do not know their individual ages. Editor Note: A fragment of Scene 10 starts at the top of page 30. The dialog is blacked out. But, Emily's name can be made out. Who she is talking to is unknown. Interior - Yale Classroom/Hallway/Exterior Yale Courtyard - Later That Day - Day (Day 2) - Scene 11 - Professor Stanton is lecturing about David Hume. He is remarking about how Hume desired a society not ruled by fear or superstition and that Hume venerated tolerance. Stanton says that Hume is a personal favorite of his and not that he was Scottish and that Stanton's mother's maiden name was MacCammon. Stage Direction: Rory and others in the class chuckle. Professor Stanton closes his lecture with telling them that the next lecture will be on the "Principles of Moral" and perhaps why Scots rule. He tells them to "read, read." Editor Note: We have some Stage Direction, but part of it is blacked out. Stage Direction: Rory and the others grab the stuff and head out. We follow her down the hall - blacked out information - sees Christopher up ahead, sitting - more blacked out info to the end of the direction. End of Side for Professor Stanton Editor Note: What follows is 1/3 of a page of dialog between Rory and Christopher. Rory says to Christopher, "Still here." Christopher's response cannot be made out. Rory answers to Christopher, "Nope", and the rest is cannot be made out. Scene 11 continues but the script page ends here. Interior Location Unknown - Time Unknown - Continuous - Day (Day Unknown) - Scene 13 - Kirk is telling Taylor that Lulu is as insensitive as they come. Taylor tells Kirk that is fine and that they only have a little time and must choose the right girl quickly. Taylor turns to a group of girls and tells them to stand up. Stage Direction: The girls stand in a line in front of Taylor and Miss Patty. Taylor studies them. Kirk looks on nervously. Taylor continues with saying that based on the visual that they are looking for, he must eliminate numbers two, five, seven and he hesitates, 9. He thanks them all for coming. Stage Direction: The appropriate girls look disappointed and leave. Kirk breathes a sigh of relief that Lulu made the cut. He shoots her a thumbs up. She thumbs ups him back. There is some Taylor dialog blacked out, but most of it can be read. Taylor now tells the remaining girls that he must see a demonstration of their acting abilities. He says, "Please show me your best come hither look." Stage Direction: The girls do their best to show their come hither looks. They don't do it very well. Some smile, some try to look serious and sexy, but none of them look very fetching. Taylor asks again. "Your come hither look, ladies?" Girl #4 says that that was her come hither look. Taylor excuses Girl #1. Girl #1 says, "Rats." [i]Stage Direction: Kirk silently celebrates as Girl Number One starts to go. Taylor opens the door for the girl to leave. The balance (one line) of the dialog is blacked out. End of Sides for Girl #4 and Girl #1 Editor Note: The next series of Sides are for the children, Bobby, Tara, and Craig. The Sides has been cut and pasted together, but most of the complete Scene 26 can be put together. It is also apparent from these Sides that what Taylor and Miss Patty were doing in Scene 11 was trying to choose a girl to play a "Woman whose livelihood defied laws of morality but acted in a fashion in which God would forgive her." Exterior Stars Hollow - Continuous - Day (Day 4) - Scene 26 - Stage Direction: Lorelai and Rory come out of Luke's as the re-enactment is about to start. About twenty or so townspeople have gathered in the cold to bear witness. Several newspeople are gathered together to record the event. They include a couple photographers, a couple reporters, and a video camerman. Reverend Skinner stands with three local school kids, ages 10 - 14, who are each holding large faux history books. Their names are Bobby, Tara, and Craig. The re-enactors -- Andrew, Sy, (rest of the names blacked out). Bobby, tara, and Craig step forward, opening the faux history books. Bobby is giggling to himself. Reverend Skinner tells Bobby not to get the giggles. Stage Direction: Bobby stops giggling and composes himself. As the narrate, they all read from their history books. Bobby starts with, "The year..." and they all chime in "Seventeen seventy-nine!" Bobby continues, "The location..." and again all, "Stars Hollow!" Lorelai mockingly tells Rory that Children should shoot us for what we make them do. Rory, "Ssh!" Bobby describes how during the War for Independence and important turning point was reached when the brave Town Militia learned that a powerful British general was riding through the area to rejoin his troops and wage a decisive battle. An that it inspired an idea. Rory talking to Lorelai asks, "Wouldn't they have had horses?" Lorelai has some sort or mocking answer but it is blacked out - the word coconut looks like it is used. Stage Direction: The re-enactors disappear around the corner. The children recite together: "Brave our soldiers are!" Lorelai tell Rory that while looking at Tara, "You so would have been that little chick." Rory - "Yeah...." Stage Direction: The Reverend spots the re-enactors peeking around the corner destroying the illusion that they are off blocking the high road. He waves for them to disappear and they clumsily do that. Stage Direction: Bobby steps back and Tara steps forward. She reads from her history book. Tara tells the story chapter about how the Militia went off to block the high road. The British general had no choice bit to take the only passable road on this snowy day - The road through Stars Hollow. Stage Direction: Tara steps back and Craig steps up. Craig tells of a Scout that arrived to warn of the general's coming. Stage Direction: A re-enactor on horseback come galloping down the street toward the crowd. The Scout is hollering, "The British General is coming! The British General is Coming!" Lorelai mockingly says: "It's so expositional." Rory remarks: "I guess Tony Kushner wasn't available." The Children all chime together reading, "And then the General arrived!" Stage Direction: Taylor comes in riding slowly, looking very proud of himself in his fancy British General uniform. Taylor in a British accent: "It certainly is unfortunate that the high road was blocked this day, forcing me to ride though town." Lorelai snarks about this - most is blacked out. Rory remarks that Taylor looks like Dick van Dyke from "Mary Poppins." Craig now tells all about a brave women who put herself in harm's way and emerged to distract the general. Craig describes her as: "This simple, common, woman whose livelihood defied laws of morality but acted in a fashion in which God would forgive her led the British General into the warmth of her Boudoir. She saved Stars Hollow!" Stage Direction: Kirk takes Taylor by the arm and leads him back into the house he came out of. Kirk gets back ino the part, gesturing with his hands for Taylor to come in. The minister starts giggling. Bobby notices. Bobby sternly calls out, "Reverend." Reverend Skinner stops giggling and says, "Sorry." Craig continues with telling how the British general was kept occupied long enough for Lafayette's troops to ambush his men, a decisive victory for the colonists. The children conclude the story by reciting together, "Thanks to the Stars Hollow Militia, (they get out of synch and peter out),...The 'woman whose livlihood defied laws of morality but acted in a fashion in which God would forgive her'." Editor Note: I don't know how - but it is evident that none of the girls were selected to play the prostitute, but Kirk was???? End of Sides for Bobby, Tara, Craig, and the Scout. Editor Note: This scene ends on page 67 of a normally 70 - 80 page script. There was no evidence in any of the Sides about who may have died. The dialog amongst the main characters did not have any hint of sadness or grief. In this last re-enactment scene Lorelai's and Rory's dialog was primarily mocking the scene and the re-enactment. From Spiced: Someone dies off-screen in ep. 11. It is not a main character (one who appears in the opening credits or has appeared in the opening credits) It's a human. It is someone we have seen at least once. This person has had scenes with Lorelai and Rory. It's not a "funny" death. And it could really have an effect on the rest of the season (depending on how future episodes go). They haven't been on this season. It isn't Mia and it isn't Sherry. Character Spoilers Logan is Rory's new love interest. Christopher will be in 7 episodes this season. Chris will appear in episode 6. Dean will not be leaving the show. He's staying all season. Alex Borstein is returning for season 5. We don't know if she's playing Drella again. DrunkGorillaMask Yalie that Rory follows in ep 5.06? She'll be played by Katherine Bailess for at least 5 episodes. The character's name is Stephanie. Sookie is pregnant again. | I've got to post this because it's been swirling around in my head for days. I think the writing will determine how this Lorelai, Luke, Chris thing will go. I am fairly confident that Luke and Lorelai will work it out because of the fact that David Sutcliffe is only signed on for so long and because the writers have basically set up Luke and Lorelai from the beginning. I really want that to happen but not at the expense of character development. I'd love for them to work it out, but not if I have to despise the Lorelai character in the process. If she is at all tempted by Chris, it won't be a good sign for me and it will be difficult for me to invest in L/L since I will have no respect for 50% of the pairing. What really bothers me at this point, is Chris reappearing in Rory's life. I hope that the writers address what kind of relationship and Rory and Chris have had over the last two years. For him to just show up again and want to be around Rory just screams of contrivance. I need the backstory but I have a feeling that I won't get it. The fact that Rory confronted Chris about staying away from her mom (and by association her) in favor of her Mom's relationship with Luke speaks volumes in my opinion. She is willing to sacrifice her relationship with her Dad so that her Mom can be happy. What does that tell you? I know what it tells me. The fact that Christopher says in that promo that as her father he deserves respect says alot to me also. Aside from the fact that it makes we want to hurl. He is truly a despicable individual. He is a smarmy rich kid who thinks he is entitled to things he did not earn. Respect is earned and he hasn't done that by any stretch of the imagination. Sorry, but I just loathe the guy. It’s not all his fault because Lorelai has handled his negligence of their daughter with kid gloves. She can’t “protect” Rory anymore, she isn’t a child. She is entitled to her own feelings regarding her Dad. You know, I don't even think he loves Lorelai in the true sense of the word. Look who he ended up with - Sherry. She was the total opposite of Lorelai. He got his crap together and chose to be with somebody else. Lorelai needs to move on. I don't think that guy knows how to love anybody and I really don't see how Lorelai could find that attractive. UGH. I'm so frustrated with this. In the whole time I have watched this show I have never seen Rory be disrespectful of another adult so this says a WHOLE lot. There are some pent up issues here and I hope they address them. So I rambled on like this to basically come to this conclusion. I'm not sure that I see Luke getting insecure about his relationship with Lorelai. The season so far has not been set up that way. GG can be dramatic but I’ve never seen it be melodramatic. I think what we have been given so far has been meant to show us that Luke is serious about this. He didn't even flinch about the parents, how much more in can you be? Christopher is the wild card. I am speculating that Luke is not going to be ok with Lorelai helping Chris, as he shouldn't be. Lorelai is used to doing what she wants, she is independent, and she has never been forced to give up this part of her "independence" which is honestly why I think she stayed away from hooking up with Luke all along. You cannot do the things she is doing with Chris if you are in a serious relationship. Luke and Christopher are polar opposites when it comes to being trustworthy and loyal to your family and loved ones. I can't imagine that Luke will have any respect for Christopher at this point and I think he will voice that opinion. I also think that Lorelai won't like it. Rather than take his opinion as having some validity she will be confused about it and they will have a falling out over it. They'll make up and then one of Chris's parents will die (sorry for bringing this spec up again) and then she will feel like she has to be there for Chris again and will expect Luke to be understanding. Luke will see them in a compromising position and assume the worst. He'll take off and not leave a word of where he is going. Lorelai will be devastated but that won't stop Chris from making his move. Luke will return and they will get in another monster fight because he took off on her and they will hash out their misunderstanding. She'll be done with Chris forever and her relationship with Luke will be stronger because of it. I suspect the elder Gilmores will also have a part in this. They will make their preference for Chris known, which also kills me after everything he has done, but that’s a whole other diatribe. All of this will cause HUGE problems for Luke and Lorelai also. Her two worlds are going to collide and she will have to make a choice. This, or any variation of this, I can get behind. Lorelai seriously considering Chris over Luke I cannot. It makes me sick just thinking about it. | |||

| Take a deep breath and think lovely snowy thoughts..... Just believe that the writers are as invested as we are....take heart....it's great TV!! This season has been lovely so far and despite what we all know is coming....it will be good for the L&L relationship. __________________ Booth: Alright. | Kristin - E!Online Chat - 15 Nov Things were a bit bleak on the E!Online Chat - Folks wouldn't let the Who's going to Die thing die. Plus they didn't know the clues as is obvious below. I did comment in the general Chat that it was too bad it wasn't Dean (So...sue me) I asked two questions: Tell us About the Luke and Lorelai Boat Fight? and the one she chose to answer is below. It does sorta confirm that Logan will be around longer than Dean; but in a backhanded way. Quote:

| good grief, it figures that people who haven't even READ THE THREADs/clues would get their ignorance recognized. That's taking up legitimate question space. But of course, as mentioned above, this is wrongda we're dealing with, so who knows if any info. would've been reliable. | |||

| I bet it's Apricot. You know, the cat Babette and Morey got after Cinammon died. Look what happened the last time their cat died. Lorelai and Max were starting up and Rory was cool with that. And Rory told Dean she was "interested." The town came together and mourned. Think of how it would be this time. Luke could have a meltdown because Lorelai eats one of Sookie's cookies and not one of his brownies so then Lorelai has to get the relationship back on track. Rory finally tells Dean she's no longer "interested" and tells Logan "maybe." After seeing the girls' pain, Chris will decide that now is the time for him to be there for them. Luke will of course have to beat him up and dump his unconscious body in the boat in Lorelai's garage, but they can't just leave it there so they push it out to "sea" in the lake for Chris to fend for himself when he wakes up, leaving Rory and Paris to babysit Gigi. The town will again come together to mourn, but there is the added sadness because Apricot was so young. But then they all remember that Sookie is pregnant and rejoice that the circle of life continues. | |||

| I'm REALLY glad Chris isn't in that collage. Only 1 more day to go. Are we getting any more sides any time soon or is that it because of the holiday hiatus? | |||
