She now has about as much in common with her parents' cronies as Luke does. The only difference is uppercrust manners, airs and graces, and the art of trivial small talk - and they can be learned, they're not exclusive to the rich.

Good point Bootie. Lorelai has really lived more than half of her life in Luke's World. She only spent her childhood (until 16) in the upper crust, and the following twentytwo (assuming she is thirty-eight now) as part of the working class.

It would seem to me that Lorelai is really more Working Girl than Society Girl. Add the fact that Lorelai chose to live a different lifestyle than her parents and I believe Lorelai is where she wants to be.

I realize you like the couple, so it's hard to imagine. Maybe I'm trying to prep you for the worst.
But what of Luke and the diner, a corner stone of the series since the first scene! Can they ever go back to being just friends?

Depends on how they approach it, of course. But I could see them working through the angst of "who will she choose" all season, longing looks, etc. with the end being her choosing Christopher. Then there wouldn't be any diner scenes...the show would end.

Return of the black sharpie.

Luke's kicking customers out of the diner.

And it looks like Taylor plows his Thunderbird into Luke's diner. Fun-ny stuff.

And some Paris stuff.

Okay not much for L&L, they are blacked out and I will post a link ASAP.

Taylor's "Thunderbird" is parked in the diner!

'The Long Morrow" sounds like an interesting title for a gilmore girls episode

I have no idea what ASP would have done, what DR will do, or anything else. All I know is what is or isn't credible to me, and I'm just one viewer.

After last year's emotional carnage, L&L could still fix things within a year, but it would also be realistic for them not to get that far. I could see Lorelai ending the series alone, perhaps stronger, who knows. That's a sad ending, because she'd never get her whole package, but it's plausible. And for some of us viewers, the story will never be complete - we're obviously not going to see her middle now.

But Lorelai would need a major lobotomy for me to ever find a Christopher ending credible, in one year or 100. That's a betrayal of her 21 years raising her daughter alone, it's a choice between the man who couldn't be bothered to grow up and accept responsibility for his child instead of the man who, in however a blind and distorted way, at least tried to do right by his child. Besides, we have a mere six months of head-up-ass behaviour here.

Can Christopher ever grow a brain? He was "never not dumb". I'd like to see him redeemed for Gigi's sake but there remains something very, very wrong about a Lorelai/Christopher ending after Rory reaches maturity. I don't try to predict this show any more. It works backwards from the stories the showrunner wanted to tell, not forwards from where the characters had already reached. I keep hoping things will change but I no longer enjoy the ride. I'd say the odds are still against a Christopher/Lorelai ending but hell, it wouldn't be any great surprise - or great shakes - if the ending also sucks.

At least for Lorelai. And much as I care about Rory, I never expected to see her achieve all her dreams. As long as they can refrain from the idolatry of magically making her Yale's nonexistent valedictorian, I'll probably be good. Because quite honestly, I'd rather see her end the series as a pole-dancer than like that.

Sounds like it picks up where it left off - or at least the morning after the big fight...

It probably does just cover the next day... which makes me hope that LL talk by the end of the day... the sides all kinda fit the next day. Rory's still in new haven, Luke's still upset from the ultimatum, and now lorelai in sight yet... but by the time Lorelai gets back from Boston it'll probably be the afternoon anyways.

I put a link on the first post to a copy of the sides that everyone can DL.

Sides – NEW! - Episode 7.01 - The Long Morrow

Time to get the CSI lab to work!

So if the sides are now does that mean they go to work this week?

Time to send in the spys to see how bad the diner is with a Thunderbird parked in it!
