Well that makes sense, it also makes sense that she would go with Chris when they were married. Guess we're lucky Chris didn't turn up to "win Lore back" LOL

What happened to the flashbacks and did I miss the picture of 3-year-old Rory?

I liked the episode okay. I wish there had been even more R/L/E scenes. I think it would have been so much better with the orginal Mia. The ending scene was very very good.

psunyy28, I thought the same thing about Rory's speech to Logan. Good for him that he didn't throw her "college break" back in her face.

I can't believe that we almost got a glimpse of Lorelai being sentimental about Rory leaving. I thoguht the show had forgotten about how close they are.

They were non-existent.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't Mia & Howard much like the couple from Say Something that got no "middle"?

Why do you say that? Because they were older? DId they mention knowing each other before?

Yeah, the having had lives, we know she has a kid, her son, John, with other people. I don't know, maybe it's that I watched SS the other day. It just reminded me of that.

I got the sense they were a couple that got together later in life. In order to miss their middle, I would assume they'd have to have had a "beginning" earlier on, then, like the story sookie told, be reunited some odd years later after what would have been their middle has passed.

But I did like how it showed that you can still get a happy ending later on in life, and that if your previous relationships didn't work you can still find love. Lorelai seems to forget that a lot.

uhmmm, I suppose that they want to show that you could find your "right" man", "the one" for you later in your life. Interesting.

Anvil? For which girl? Or totally random part of Mia's story that we're reading meanings into?

I also remembered Mia having a son - haven't rewatched old episodes for a long time - but did I miss it or was there no mention of him? Wouldn't he attend his mother's wedding?

Is it only me who kept feeling displaced by seeing a different Mia? I thought she did a good job, but it wasn't the same face. Maybe that's why the wedding scenes felt slightly off.

I'm not entirely impressed with this episode. It's leaps and bounds better than the first part of the season, but it doesn't stand up to last week's episode or the week's before, IMO, in terms of writing.

Lorelai/Emily moments always get me, though. I wasn't quite sure where they were going with it, but I liked the way it ended. I think that ASP would have had a much more poignant way of handling this mini SL, but DR did a good job.

There's something that always bugs me about the way Lorelai and Rory discuss the RL relationship. Something impersonal almost. I think it might be that Lorelai and Logan aren't very close, and (fingers crossed) maybe this is something they'll build on in 7.18. Just a random thought.

I think Luke needs his own moment. He's been there for other people this season and he's been a fantastic dad, but he really needs something for him. Luke and Lorelai are each missing that sparkle in their eye that they had when they were together. I miss that.

My all time FAVORITE lines of this episode -- so completely hilarious -- were:

Lorelai: There's your boyfriend mom
Rory: Who?
Lorelai: Will Smith. Mom has a thing for Will Smith.
Rory: You like Will Smith?
Emily: I think that he's very charming.
Rory (LOVE the way she delivers this): That's alright

Will Smith is amazing.

Totally agree. And the diner scenes still don't feel right to me either - that's a big difference from the early seasons, before LL got together. They don't have the same spark and neither do those scenes.

And I like your point about Luke being there for other people not for himself. Because something's been off there too, maybe you hit it.

Rory brings food out to Logan who is still outside the hourse.
Actually, Rory's not bringing food out to Logan. She's carrying cake out for herself and Logan thinks she's bringing it for him. It's an actual mirror image of the scene in You Jump, I Jump, Jack, where Rory thinks Logan is bringing food for her at the Great Gadsby/Safari outing but he says it's for himself and eats it in front of her. I'm thinking we are supposed to be seeing a certain amount of equality beginning to develop in their relationship as signified by Rory stating that she's no longer impressed with his grand gestures. In other words, I goofed up (and dropped out of school for a whole semester), you goofed up (and regressed for a couple of weeks), now we're Even-Steven. No one's better, more impressive, or morally superior than the other (although in the latter case, I'm not sure Rory would agree. She seemed very morally superior).
