The girl lucks out? Hold on here. Luke shut her out of his life last year. This year, she married the wrong man, that she has had some sort of thing for -- for over 20 YEARS! OVER 20 YEARS! She's not lucking out. She's stumbling across the right inevitability.

Again, you see, such moral absolutes in these characters, that you make it impossible to BE who AMY AND DAN AND NOW SHO-RUNNA write them to be. What are they? Oh, I have to answer that? They are ALL FLAWED CHARACTERS! Expecting FLAWED characters to make the right decision time after time. Puts these characters into a bubble of absolution that makes everyone one of their actions morally reprehensible from the GO GET (STEVE MATCHETT RETURNS TO AIR IN 15 DAYS!). People -- nor characters written to be like people -- can be expected to live such absolutes. Unless you like moral absolutes. Which, as Obi-Wan once said; "ARE TOTALLY LAME, ANAKIN! THEY ARE TOTALLY FREAKIN LAME!"

I truly believe she can tell the difference. Maybe we can't see it now -- but we will when they get back together. Luke is not Christopher. She is not floating from one man to another, each a suitable companion. One is right for her, the other is not. She sees this. I'm sure of it.

And I agree about the moral absolute Jason is talking about...everyone makes mistakes; why should we judge people solely on their mistakes? If this were the case, then we'd all be defined by our greatest flaw, and what a sad world that would be. Lorelai's flaws, however large, should not override the rest of her character.

Goodnight

Catching up what happened.....
First things first:
1/Iamsher, thanks for the PBP.
2/The spoilers are back.
3/Ausiello says, a turning point will be in 7.19.
4/ I noticed in iamsher's decription this: "Rory asks him how long this has he known. He says weeks and Rory asks why he didn’t tell her." Does it mean, there's a huge time skip? Because at the end of 7.15, according to what Luke said, Lorelai and Christopher broke up "a week ago". It means L&L reconciliation (in 7.19) happens (it will air after the hiatus) weeks or even months after the break-up.

I dig. Using the descriptions from last week's episode, Luke sold his kayak and bought a canoe! No more Luke-table-for-one-Danes!

Is the same Mia that was on the show before or a different actress?

I was just thinking about what Lorelai said about the onsies and first pancakes. I think maybe it wasn't meant, but she was talking about life. How you don't do a bunch of do overs, you pick up from the mistakes, you learn from them and then start again with what you have.

Different Mia

Season 2 - Elizabeth Franz

Now - Kathy Baker

Good spec BTW

Different actress - Kathy Baker this time. ETA - Or what Lancer said first.

Nice metaphor to life - first onesies and pancakes.
Lorelai's first pancake came out great, she knows. I hope she has another. It's not like her to only have one pancake, lol. Rory knows, Luke knows, everyone knows that.

And what's with the airing dates? When will we have a final confirmation if the hiatus ends April 10th or 24th. There's conflicting info.

ETA - And the Futon Critic moved 7.18 from April 24th to May 1st! LINK If they're moving these episodes all to sweeps, could that mean there's a season eight confirmed (that would make ratings crucial, whereas if it's the series finale, they might have less concern over ratings regarding advertising for next year). Have I mentioned that I understand very little about these issues?

gjoni well Ausiello says that 19 might air April 17 which means we're back a week before that and finish May 8, which is only 1 day before last season.

Yup, I got that. Just so many conflicting dates regarding the return from hiatus (7.18):
It was April 24th till recently on most web pages. TVGuide is April 10th now, while the Futon Critic is saying May 1st. *shrugs*

Well I modified my dates also, it's just weird that some show release dates well in advance and others you just don't know. IMO the CW does know by now but is just not telling.

SPEC - VM is one ep behind and set for 20 eps in total now if they come back on the same night that means VM will end a week before GG so many a double or 2 hour final?

Luke has always had money. How else would he have instantly been able to come up with $30,000 for the dragonfly in season 4?

Luke has never really had any debt from what I can see - he said his dad built the building the diner is in and presumably it is paid off, so he doesn't have rent or a mortgage on the diner and his apartment; he gets rent from Taylor for his building next door; he's not into hi-tech toys or expensive cars - so it seems that probably most everything he makes in the diner is money saved.

I also considered that the first burnt pancake you throw out could have been the first bad choice of husband (Chris)....I know they linked it to Rory which is nice, but I prefer my interpretation.

I think Lorelai at the end of the episode was her enjoying her special place in the life of SH and seeing her daughter and Lane still close after so many years, being able to help broker peace between Lane and her mom, seeing all the people who have been in her life together celebrating the new little ones about to be born -she seemed at peace - maybe not content completely, but somewhat at peace from the frenetic behavior I've been seeing.

I think Lorelai seeing Luke growing is making her feel good. He finally gets that in life you have to take chances. I think it's bittersweet because she wanted him to jump for her and he just couldn't. But I think she understands that he now might be able to 'jump' for someone else. It hurts but in the end it will be good for her friend Luke.
