I hope we do also.

I was just thinking about if i could remember if Lorelai found out about Emily's meeting Mia all those years ago. If not and it came up in conversation, it would be a chance for some great scene's between Lorelai and Emily.

Thanks for the thread, Caf.

And thank you for the MC interview, iamsher.
I always enjoy his interviews because he seems to really respect and remember all the people, be it fans (even crazy internet fans), critics and TPTB who care about him. And he also seems to be straightforward.

I think the final arc he's talking about and the change in Logan is what Nicolalala spoiled us with - that he quits - I guess the Huntzberger empire, and how it's derived of, yet also affects, his being and future. I hope from the little we know of 7.18, of him in SH with Rory, that they remain a supporting and loving team of one another. I don't think they'll marry this season even if it is the series' final one, but I do think they'll stay together. If there's quite a significant time jump, then maybe a wedding/marriage will be shown.

If I couldn't get both things and had to choose for RL as well as for LL, I'd prefer seeing the real deal - marriage - and how it works even for a bit, than the actual wedding ceremony. But, who's asking?

Maybe they'll have a double wedding at the end of the season/series, they'll both end up pregnant with twins and we'll get a last minute season 8

Well it worked for 7th Heaven!

TV GUIDE PODCAST FEBRUARY 23, 2007

DM = Daniel Manu
MA = Michael Ausiello
AC = Angel Cohn
MMcD = Maitland McDonagh

START 44.23

MA: Moving on?
DM: Yes, Mike, we got, uhm, you know, you weren’t here last week so we couldn’t ask you about all these Gilmore Girls questions people have.
AC: And it is a stack.
DM: Remind me, who is Mia on the show? Remind me who the hell that is?
MA: I don’t remember, but ---
AC: She’s one of the friends.
MA: No! Mia was from the first season, the one who raised Rory and Lorelai for a little while there
DM & AC: Ooohhh, right.
DM: When the hell did that happen?
MA: That was in the first season.
AC: There was some name of a friend on Veronica Mars, wasn’t she…?
DM: No, that was somebody else.
MA: I know who you’re talking about.
DM: That’s somebody else. Well, Craig wants to know ‘does Luke go to Mia’s wedding in episode 17?’
MA: No, he doesn’t. Move on, what’s the next question?
DM: Uhh---
AC: Why do we care?
DM: I don’t know; I thought Mia was like a major character.
MA: Kathy Baker from Picket Fences is playing Mia, though. She’s taking over the role.
DM: Oh, she wasn’t playing it in the first---
AC: Not that I remember…
DM: Yeah. Uhm, Nicole from Ohio wants to know if we think that ‘Gilmore Girls has lost it’s charm, probably due to Luke, he used to be mean and grouchy all the time, now he’s turning into a big softy. He’s even smiling a lot, he doesn’t even seem to have a lot of mean comments to say about, you know, people like Kirk and Taylor Doose.’
MA: What’s the question?
DM: Do we think that the show is losing something because Luke is too much of a nice guy now?
AC: I don’t know. My dad told me to call him when ---
MA: I don’t know what you want me to say to that. I thought that last weeks episode was really good; this week’s episode was kind of---
AC: I liked this week.
MA: This week was okay. I felt like it was searching for a purpose.
AC: It was all Gilmore. But---
MMcD: Searching for a purpose?
AC: I don’t know. Jokes.
DM: What’s going on with the Huntzberger dad and stuff? What’s going on there with Rory?
MA: Like the episode wasn’t about anything, you know, I don’t know. Last week, it was a, I felt it was a really well written Gilmore Girls.
DM: Well, a listener named Kate wants to know, Mike, if, if, you know, you’re getting a sense, like she is, is that Logan and Rory don’t really have a fully committed relationship.
MA: I’m getting just the opposite. It seems like, if anything the last couple of episodes they’re showing them like they’re stronger than ever.
DM: The whole Rory’s little speech to Logan the other week about the TA or the professor---
MA: Yeah.
DM: That was excruciating. Why is she telling him that? It just felt so over the top.
MA: Yeah, it did seem a little bit--- yeah. Like she shouldn’t have such a guilty conscious.
DM: Yeah, like ‘I walked by a guy on the street, lemme describe him to you.’
MA: It’s like, you know, Angel running home and saying ‘oh my god I had a, you know, Dan was wearing this really hot sweater today’.
MMcD: ‘Somebody made a joke about me sleeping with my boss.’
DM: [hyena laugh] Hi Steve.

END 46.30

Thanks for the transcript, lorelaisgirl.
I think MA's fed up with the show and its fans. He has already stated, if I'm not mistaken, that it should end this year.

Ditto the thanks to caf and iamsher. Very nice interview.

It will be interesting to see how the whole Logan quits storyline plays out. I'm fairly confident that R/L will remain a loving/supportive team throughout the arc. I'm looking forward to the family dynamic fallout... and how they handle that. Logan may be able to quit his job, but it's near impossible to quit your family. I wonder how will Mitchum respond to Logan's quitting? Gregg Henry is such a great actor. I love the Logan/Mitchum scenes almost as much as I like the Lorelai/Emily confrontations.

I agree it will be interesting. And I think Matt expects the SL to provoke some debate, since he says that "It will be interesting to see how the fans respond to the changes in Logan."

I hope Rory helps Logan see he can quit his family business, but not the family, just like she and her mother don't want her to cut Chris out of her life. I wonder though, if the Huntzbergers will see it that way. Rory can also play a part here, like when Logan was in the hospital, confronting Mitchum if he decides to sever family ties with Logan unless he performs as expected in the family business.

I just don't think the grand manipulator (Mitchum) is going stand back and let Logan quit without a fight. I wonder if he will blame this new turn of events on Rory? He seems to think that she has tremendous influence over Logan. I could see him trying to get to Logan back through her. More drama.

MC is probably aware that a reason certain viewers don't like him is because of his wealth and the world he represents...while the reason certain viewers like him is because of the world he represents--a deliberate juxtaposition, I think, to SH. Some part of me suspects that by quitting (and given his comment), we might see Logan turning his back on his family destiny and his wealth.

And I'm not sure how I feel about that. While I want Logan to be able to confront Mitchum and really begin to make his life his own, I've always felt that there was something deliberate in Rory falling for a guy from that world, the world of her grandparents. The world that Lorelai shunned, but which Rory would be part of, thus making her a bridge or conduit between the two.

My hope is that he'll find a way to forge his own path, even as he acknowledges that he will always be a Huntzberger, and find his own identity--not what Mitchum wants for him--in that. I can see the parallels, i.e., that Logan is being "Lorelai-d". But I'd want to see a better resolution for Logan and Mitchum than what we've seen with Lorelai and her parents.

Seslavie, I feel that it's not about Logan quiting his family, as much as it's about him taking a STAND. His father views him as a chess piece more than as a son. Everything with Logan is about manipulating him into place instead of encouraging/supporting Logan to become the heir to the family media empire.

If anything, Logan walking away from his dad, represents him walking away from a manipulator. He will also be walking into his OWN FUTURE. A future made out of his skillz and talents. Talents and skills Mitchum appreciates, but would rather manipulate than appreciate. Now he's going to have to watch his son succeed in ways that he could have never imagined. Comeuppance...it's fantastic!

Czuchry: In terms of the last episode that just happened--that one was the business deal falling through. That’s kinda going to be the last push of these episodes as far as what that does to Logan and what that does to the relationship between Rory and Logan and Mitchum as well. That is kinda going to inform these last storylines. There is going to be some really big changes in Logan and in the way he’s going to approach his life over the course of these last episodes. I think that this last arc for Logan is really nice, and I think that fans will be...it will be interesting to see how fans respond to this last change in Logan, because we’re going to see him in another way that we haven’t before. It’ll be interesting to see how people respond.
Thanks all for links and the snippet of the interview with Matt

Logan, like Lorelai, is probably going to leave his rich lifestyle and family behind and start anew in a more moderate lifestyle doing things the way he really wants to instead of what’s expected of him.

This could explain his visit to Stars Hollow and his participation and interaction with the locals. He’ll experience a more simplistic and down-to-earth lifestyle from what he’s used to resulting in a better appreciation, understanding and sensitivity of both worlds.

This experience could be an eye opener and the final key to his independence from the Huntzbergers and complete his transition into manhood with a renewed sense of direction to “his” future goals and plans, eventually becoming a strong business force in his father’s world.

It will also strengthen his relationship with Rory as they will have now more in common having experienced each other’s worlds. Lots of change in store for Logan and all for the better. Changes that will certainly earn him more fans.

I still don’t see a wedding in sight for this couple as yet but if things continue the way they are with them, I can see it in their future.

ETA

Sorry Caf for being so rude. Thanks for the new thread.
