Maybe TPTB that have been watching the old eps and reading viewer feed back will know these things (along with Lauren and Alexis) and this is why things are tricky now and we have no answers?

Unfortunately, I think we are looking at a so-so series finale if L/A decide not to return at the last minute. I wonder what kind of deadline they have.

Thanks for the thread, Caf.

A lot of Rory's scenes since she started college, have revolved around cell phones. I can see them filming a lot of those in a short amount of time and then splicing them into the episodes. I'd rather see Rory-lite than no Rory at all. Or no Gilmore Girls at all. JMO

I don't know if they could film a lot of Rory scenes in a short time or if on the phone not even with Lauren they (how do they do that now?)

What I see if they go with a Rorylite plan is possibly stronger eps for Rory when she is there. I would rather that than them just having a phone in SL each week.

Maybe I should have worded it like this: A show centered around Lorelai and the town would be boring. A show centered around L/L would be boring
I didn't mean what you said was nonsense. Sorry if my wording implied that. I was just referring to the "Roryless" rumor which a lot of people(including the media IIRC) have repeated even though that's not what has been reported. Sorry for directing my general annoyance with that rumor at you. It wasn't intended that way.

I agree. I just meant they could film phone scenes for the episodes that she was not a central role in and have her be there full-time for her story archs.

Oh, stop. So not everyone likes Rory and Logan together and would rather Rory be single or with someone else. What's the big deal? There are obvoiusly quite a few who don't like Lorelai and Luke together and/or Lorelai with Christopher. So what? People have different opinions. Shocker. No need to be sarcastic about said differences in opinions however.

O-oh. I'm sorry, I didn't know I wasn't allowed to express my opinion in response. Only the people who bash the couple can. I get it. Thanks.

Obviously we're missing something. I think we only know a tiny sliver about what's going on in the negotiations. They're never going to tell the whole story.
So very true. Even when the news does come out it will have its own spin.

That "nonsense" actually was first mentioned publicly by Struthers. Click Whether or not it happens in the end, I tend to believe her that the option was seriously discussed.

Yep.

We still don't know the real story why ASP left. She and Dan put one spin on it in their "exit interview" with Ausiello, but then LG said those weren't the reasons she'd heard for the Palladions leaving.

You're right, they never tell the whole story.

When did she say that?

Last June, when Ausiello interviewed her by phone while she was on top of the muddy ark shooting that Bruce Almighty sequel. Here it is:

Quote:
Ausiello Report, June 7, 2006 - "Exclusive: Lauren Graham Speaks!"

Ausiello: Well, speaking of Gilmore, what was your reaction when you found out Amy was leaving?

Graham: I still am in some sort of denial. She was directing the [season finale] and she told me personally one night after work. You know, there had been rumblings, but there always are this time of year, because they have renegotiated pretty much one year at a time. I thought there was a chance for a reconciliation. From what I understood from her and then from what was printed, the reasons why don't really match. So I don't know. They're both really talented.

If the series ends this year, I don't personally expect to ever hear the full truth behind the decision - they always spin these types of things. They will never blame it one of the performers. My guess will be that they will credit the girls with fullfilling their 7 year contract and that they feel this is a good time to put a close to the series. Whether we ever hear about the behind the scenes stuff - only time will tell.

A lot of actors sign long contracts like AB/LG, but so often the series just doesn't make it for a bunch of different reasons. I think the girls were extremely fortunate to have lucked out with this show and have it actually run the full length of their contracts - even if they did start last year saying they were tired. I wonder if AB thought when she originall signed that the show would be a hit and she would actually be doing it for so long.

When I have really loved a show - which hasn't been too often - I'm always sad and disappointed whenever it ends - even if they did another season, I would expect to be sad to see it go after that.
