Yep, that makes sense. Thanks for that ...

This is very, very obviously being tied into that whole conversation with Paris, and then later with Logan, about having Logan broke and wrapped around her finger. Maybe they'll come to an understanding that they don't have to change everything about each other to be with each other because it was the differences they saw that attracted them. It's what makes their relationship exciting and being with each other interesting.

This is one of the reasons why I don't like what they've done with Luke lately, taking out all the spark in his personality so that his interactions with everyone are kind of limp. Just not as much fun.

I agree. I can't believe he can't have fun anymore. Look at Paris and Rory, bellydancing and tray sledding! In any event, we'll see how it's presented and what Rory is afraid is happening. Maybe that she won't ever get serious, responsible Logan back? Frankly, I don't want to see all of the fun beaten out of Logan
I don't think it's a matter of him going out and having fun. When you want to blow off some steam or celebrate or even have a weekly poker night or sports night that fine. That is not what he is doing here. It's more of a matter of him reverting to irresponsible and irrational behaviour in response to a complication or serious setback in his life. I am sure Christopher's role in her mother's life is still very fresh in her mind and the behaviour patterns are starting to look amazingly similar and maybe Rory wants more time to access her options.

I agree. Because love is not enough! Lorelai's relationships pattern shows, that sometimes someone can be a boy you want to want, but it doesn't work in real life.

You confuse me somewhat. I got the impression that you hated Luke because of his personality (kicking people out of his diner, pushing Jess into the Lake, his scruffy look, monosyllabic, moodiness, fighting with Dean and Christopher, and all the other things that made Luke interesting and fun to watch.) and didn’t see the humor in his behaviour.

Could it be that you have grown to like and respect him a little bit more?

When has Christopher been shown going off to blow off steam with friends in reaction to a disappointment? He doesn't even seem to have friends. He is not social and popular the way Logan was and is. He's has never been shown to be a leader. I don't, and have never, seen Logan as Chris 2.0.

No, I DEFINITELY have not grown to like and respect him a little bit more. In fact, I liked him better when he was the snarky loner, but that's when he was a part of the supporting cast and he was playing this role that he was very good in. Now, that they've expanded his part and changed him so that he would be more appropriate as a leading man who is "right" for Lorelai, a guy she can settle down with, they've softened and taken all the bite out of him. I find him far less interesting as Mr. Rogers.

It seems to me that the numerous references by Emily, Lorelai, Paris and Rory in the past two episodes about Logan being a great kid, likeable and being there for Rory were all anvils of impending troubles and that Logan was going to do something that made all these qualities questionable.

Speaking about Logan, my TV happened to be on a channel that’s showing the movie “She Gets What She Wants” and when I looked up briefly from my computer there was Matt Czuchry staring me in the face.

I don't think Luke fits into that "snarky loner" description anymore.

I think he has changed a little bit and that is after April came into his life - which for me is very understandable. He is not lonely as he was before.
He has his daughter now and he puts her first.

And I think Luke has always been right for Lorelai, I just think he changed a little bit and that occured because April came into his life and he has become a little bit more soft now.
If that helps his relationship with Lorelai then that's just great. That's just what I think.

Wonderful. When they need a spokesman for Match.com, he'll be great. But, as for entertaining me on this show, that's in the past.

Nope. What's going to come into question is whether Rory has him broke. He was a great kid, he is likeable, and he's been there for Rory. In spades. Now, it's her turn to be there for him and that doesn't mean deciding what is an acceptable response for him when he's had a major business disappointment. Sorry, honey, you can do A, B, or C, but not D. Because you're "failure" is really all about me. (Now, that does sound like Lorelai, doesn't it.)

For some reason you reminded me of this convo from AAG,NAG:

RORY: Logan is... a constant surprise. I have trouble keeping up with him. He moves a mile a minute, gets bored in two seconds flat. He started flying those scary little planes that seem like they're made of papier-mâché, which is thrilling, by the way - and, Logan's good.
LANE: Wow. Is this serious?
RORY: Seriously exciting.

...and I wonder if they're trying to make a contrast to the days when Rory was enticed by Logan and his unpredictable personality. Which I think is fine, really, if they don't go too far with this SL. It's quite unnecessary to take it to the point where it breaks up the couple. So what if he goes out gambling? I'd actually enjoy seeing Logan in his old "adventurous" element. It made him fun, as you said.

As far as Luke, while I absolutely adore the mature, caring person they have shown him to be this season, I think it is a mutual dream on the JJ thread for the writers to give him a good old fashioned rant in the next few episodes. That would be wonderful

I agree. I don't think that it is strange for a child to soften someone's personality. That happens a lot. I think that he still has some rants in him and he still feels very strongly about stuff, but he has a daughter who loves him and who obviously adores him and that has given him more confidence to let people see him. I think Lorelai, Rory, Jess and Liz were some of the very few people who actually saw who Luke really was. But he didn't let that part of him out all the time, and now he does. I think it's a beautiful story of how the love of a child can change your life.

I completely agree.

That's exactly how I feel.

Beautifully put lilmelodie. And there's nothing sexier than a partner who's a good father. At least to me

I found Logan more exciting and interesting in past seasons. This season he's so mature and upright, he's become slightly boring. They've seemed to taken the spirit out of him. It looks like that may change in upcoming episodes.

As for Luke rants, he did have one during the custody hearing, and even his lawyer wasn't able to stop him. I still find him an interesting and entertaining character.
