...but I thought all nut Lauren had agreed? Looks like it's not as much of a done deal as some have said.

I totally understand the girls wanting as much as they can get but to not even be talking to the other cast and crew is leaving it a little late in the season with them having to work on the final batch of eps soon and making it work into S8 if it happen.

All this stuff seems to indicate (in my very own opinion) no season eight. If the girls are asking for a ton of money, and it can't be paid then they can say they were willing but the studio didn't want to pay them what they thought they should be paid. And, we already know the studio has been having financial difficulty. This should be interesting.

And, it is pilot season and this is the time for that sort of exploration for other work is happening - I do like the idea that SP is being courted - god knows by whom, but the thought makes me happy.

I think this news could also indicate that we will find out sooner than later about another season since it sounds like there is on-set concern about job security and people wanting to be able to look elsewhere. Neither AB or LG strike me as the sort of people that would want to just keep people hanging so maybe this is the beginning of the negotiations.

Actually, as the spoilers now stand, I agree with you. I think there will be no proposal on 7.16, regardless of the episode's title.

7.17 fits much better, given the current spoilers.

And even if it doesn't happen, at least it will give Sophies the chance to start using avis featuring them "kissing and making up" while wearing wedding-appropriate attire.

Actually, like Laura said, I could see Logan proposing in both episodes. Rory turns him down in 7.16 because she thinks he isn't being serious and then accepts in 7.17.

The feeling seems to be that the girls will hold out until the very last possible moment before they agree (if at all)

Thanks for the info. All that sounds accurate, given that LG has always said that AB and her would decide on the 8th season question "as a team."

Maybe they have decided not to do an 8th season, and are asking so much money that they figure the studio could never possibly agree to their terms?

I'm confused - do we have a spoiler saying Logan proposes? There is so much talk about which episode it will happen in, I must have missed it - is it because of the title "Will you be my Lorelai Gilmore?"

I'm more pessimistic about a season eight now than ever before.
And if there is another season, Luke will be sent to NM (because they were too late, or left penniless to negotiate with SP, who moved on to a new pilot by then) and Logan will be sent again to London by Mitchum (because MC committed to another pilot by the time they wanted to negotiate with him, as well). I can, however, see DS available, re - signing sneaking his way back into SH and Lorelai's life.

We're just speccing on available info, plus the Logan/Lorelai bonding session in 7.18. 'Cause, why are they bonding now, exactly, 4 eps away from the possible end of the series?

I don't know if Logan proposes in 7.16 either. Maybe the title is just Lorelai or Rory having a crazy dream about a proposal (as an anvil for Mia's wedding).

I think it is more likely there will not be an 8th season. I never thought there would be so I will probably not be as disappointed as a lot of others will be - I've been sort of preparing myself for that for a long time - since last year actually. My tendency towards pessimism pays off in these situations - I'm less let down than I would be if I had thought there would be another season.

All the actors, including DS are likely looking to secure work for the future. It is curious though that if AB and LG are asking for a lot of money that doesn't exist, how the question of renewal continues for long. Maybe they are hoping to get them to agree to less money and offer some perks - like a 13 episode season so they have to work less or something - poor crew.

Did they have this problem last year as well?

Probably not considering the girls were on a 7 year deal.
