what i meant when i posted about the journey is the big series long christopher-lorelai journey. i do believe this arc does justice to that. i do think its a worthwhile storyline. and i've always respected the fact that c/l is part of gilmore girls. i've bashed chris before, but out of aggravation, because i didn't know how or when exactly things would finally end, and thats just the nature of watching your television.

I love that Rory had no conflicts regarding her parents.

I didn't feel moved, but they broke up when she said:
You’ve always been this ... possibility for me. this wonderful possibility. But it’s just not right. and i’m so sorry. i’m so sorry

C: Yeah. I guess i should have known,
He didn't initiate anything. They both agreed that she doesn't have feelings for him.
Just to be clear, the pivitol part of the ep:
Quote:
Crap Shack

Chris: Naw, I'm okay (beat) Unless you want some

Lorelai: No, I'm okay

Chris: (beat) so, uh

Lorelai: So, uh

Chris: I've been thinking about things, and uh, maybe I shouldn't have taken off.

Lorelai: No, you shouldn't have.

Chris: You gotta understand, Lore. THat letter...

Lorelai: Uh, character reference.

Chris: Whatever

Lorelai: Not whatever. There's a big diference between a letter & a character reference. I just said that stuff for Luke for a judge so he could get custody of his kid.

Chris: Don't do that.

Lorelai: WHAT?

Chris: Make me think this is all in my head.

Lorelai: It is!

Chris: It's not, I see the way you look at him.

Lorelai: Stop, I chose you, I married you.

Chris: It's not that simple.

Lorelai: What else is there?

Chris: Stuff (beat) there's other stuff.

Lorelai: What?

Chris: I got into a fight with the guy, Lore.

Lorelai: What?

Chris: About a month ago, at the gazebo. I just walked up to him and we started wailing on each other.

Lorelia: What? Why wouldn't you tell me that?

Chris: Well it's not something I'm exactly proud of. I'm fighting a guy in the street.

Lorelai: Isn't that the kinda thing you tell a person. I could have helped. I could have been more sensitive.

Chris: It's not jsut about the fight, Lore. I should have given you more time. You asked me to. I said I would. (beat) I didn't.

Lorelai: No, Chris.

Chris: You were vulnerable. And I pushed you. I think it was because we always had this timing issue, you know. First we were too young, then Sherry got pregnant, and then you were with him (beat) and then I saw this opportunity and I thought (beat) now, we should do this now. While we have the chance, while you're free and clear. But you weren't. You're not.

Lorelai: Yes, I am.

Chris: You were engaged to him, Lore. With no time to disengage.

Lorelai: Stop! THat's not what this is. We're together now. We did rush into it, but we can work this out.

Chris: I don't think we can.

Lorelai: What does that mean? Are you giving up?

Chris: Well I don't know what else to do.

Lorelai: There's LOTS to do. We can work on this.

Chris: Work on what? Work on you thinking I'm the man you want to spend the rest of your life with? I've been asking you to marry me for 20 years, we're finally married, I still feel like I'm asking you.

Lorelai: THat's terrible. I'm sorry if you feel that way (beat) if I made you feel that way. THat's not how I feel. I'm in this.

Chris: I wanna believe that.

Lorelai: You should. It's true.

Chris: (many beats) Look, I should probably get back to my mom's. She's been there all day.

Lorelai: Yeah, you should be with her. How is she?

Chris: She's fine.

Lorelai: So we'll talk more tomorrow?

Chris: Okay

Lorelai nods

Chris leaves (end scene)
THAT is the pivotal scene. The end one was just them agreeing it was over. Chris didn't believe the marriage was going to work already. She was wanting to work on things, imploring him, even. Willing to cut Luke out of her life. You CAN'T skip that scene.

No, she has a misguided sense of loyalty. Again she always gets Lorelai's back. At least Lorelai inadvertently told her daughter that SHE always runs away from conflict. A very nice bit of business right there, and the TA really amounted to nothing. Oh, by the way, nice Crackhead Bob avatar Capa. Good to know that The Howard has a reach all the way to Germany.

Yep. I would agree that good R/L shipper scenes usually give some people that.
Actually agita is the Americanized bastardization for "acido or acida", the Italian word for acid, which causes indigestion when one eats too much gourmet food, instead of home cooked burgers.

Nope, I'm not skipping that scene. Matter of fact, THAT was the pivotal scene, when Sookie asked the million dollar question.....if there were no Luke, would Chris be "the one"?

The answer was NO, and that's the realization that ended the marriage.

And it's just funny-interesting-weird to me that now I'm seeing these kinds of posts and about how Chris is okay and the LC scenes good--now that they're breaking up (of course).

It was just an observation. I myself am relieved that we can all move on from the LLC debacle.
Heh, I still don't have any respect for C/L's so-called "journey". Tonight didn't change that. In fact, I have even less respect after hearing him admit he did pounce, rather like a vulture, at her weakest moment.

I've looked for months for something to appreciate, something worth watching in it all, and never found it. It was rather like aversion therapy - anything that follows is bound to seem better. Too bad there's so little of the year left. What a waste.

LG's acting used to reach me but in that last scene tonight, I felt nothing. I don't think Christopher is somehow OK now, and I still wish Lorelai would get back that whole brain of hers. Pretty pathetic to "want to want him". Oy.

I think the big waste is Lorelai is now back to where she was before Luke, the only thing she got out of this is her and Chris don't work as a couple, something she should have known years ago!

Wow, the Grand Poobah felt nothing for a storyline that goes against her MORAL CODE. This is like expecting me to enjoy a HISTORY OF THE YANKEES special. I might be moved by Yogi, but the rest of the Yankeess...nah. Whateverthecase, you can at least be honest with us. That's the least you can do, and the above is not honesty. It's bias wrapped in bile towards something that will never ever ever ever be the way that you view it.

ETA: They are called LIFE LESSONS for a reason. Why must everything be so simplistic around here? Lorelai finally accepted something that she refused for a long time. People have to go through these lessons for a reason...except Lorelai and Luke. Who apparently are the character equivalent of Dawn soap.

She overacted. It reminded me of the scene she played with the Yale psychologist. It didn't ring true, but who could blame her. What was charming and intelligent that bowled her over the moment she saw him? What it was, was, "oh, a goodlooking guy! pant. pant." But I *thought* she was supposed to be reacting to more than that. That it was *more* than that.

Now that scene with Logan later did give me a touch of agita. Or an insulin overdose.
I'm sorry you can't appreciate an actual healthy relationship, but you are a fan of Lorelai and Luke.

I disagree 100%. Rory has a very well guided sense of loyalty. Lorelai has earned Rory's loyalty, unlike her ****head father.

I'm happy!!

My definition is from Merck's Medical Dictionary and from the Cornell Med website.

Is that in bold yet another "veiled" reference? LOL.

Exactly. If he hadn't pushed, I don't think she would have jumped. She's finally starting to wake up and realize some mistakes. I can't wait till she realizes all of them.

I have to strongly disagree with all who have said this journey is nothing but absolute bull. Because for the first time this entire season, an episode absolutely touched me and it rang so true to the core of Gilmore Girls. I really believe this episode -- and the very, very respectful and spot-on close it put to the Christopher/Lorelai relationship -- will do ASP and her vision proud.

I have gained much respect for Christopher.

And -- where can I find a Logan? Seriously.
