I’d like to remind you all that this is the main Gilmore Girls spoiler thread, and as such, posters from various shipper groups are free to post here, so if you see someone saying something that you don’t like about “your” favorite character or couple, don’t start fighting with them on this thread, and don’t go into a Gilmore Girls shipper thread if you don’t like the couple that the shipper thread is for. Episode 7.14 - Farewell, My Pet

The CW: LORELAI AND CHRISTOPHER CONFRONT THEIR PROBLEMS - Two days after his by-pass surgery, Richard is on the road to recovery, and Rory returns to Yale, where she finds that Richard's economics class is now being taught by an attractive young professor, Tucker Culbertson (guest star Cameron Bender), who flusters Rory with his charm. While Lorelai (Lauren Graham) tries to distract herself from the issues in her marriage, she and Sookie focus on planning a funeral for one of Michel's beloved dogs. Finally, Christopher returns ready to talk, and he and Lorelai discuss the main problem that has haunted their marriage - Lorelai's feelings for Luke (Scott Patterson. Kelly Bishop, Keiko Agena, Liza Weil and Matt Czuchry also star.)

TV Guide: While Richard recuperates from surgery, a new professor (Cameron Bender) takes his place and steals Rory's heart with his charming ways. Meanwhile, Lorelai finds ways to avoid facing her problems with Christopher, including planning a funeral for one of Michel's departed dogs. But Christopher returns home and they discuss Lorelai's feelings for Luke.

TVRage.com: Days after his bypass, Richard beings the slow road to recovery and the Gilmores attempt to return to normalcy. Rory goes back to Yale and finds that her grandfather's class is now being taught by a young, attractive professor who catches Rory off-guard with his charm. In Stars Hollow, Lorelai tries to forget about her marital problems by helping Sookie plan a funeral for one of Michel's beloved dogs. Later, Christopher returns home and confronts Lorelai about the main issue hurting their marriage -- Lorelai's feelings for Luke.

Media Village: While Richard recovers from his by-pass surgery, Rory finds herself attracted to the handsome young professor who has taken over her grandfather's economics class. But the real draw in tonight's episode is the heart-to-heart between Lorelai and Christopher about Lorelai's lingering feelings for Luke. Why is everyone so down on Christopher, anyway? He's kind, he has a good sense of humor, he's attractive, he's successful and he's Rory's dad, for crying out loud! Oh, and he can also hold his own against Lorelai's maddening verbal excess, which would have sent a lesser man screaming into the woods of Stars Hollow by now.

Columbia Spectator: The day before Valentine's Day promises romance and heartbreak on the CW. At 8 p.m., loyal viewers of Gilmore Girls will see the Luke-Lorelai-Christopher love triangle reach a major turning point while Logan and Rory get closer together.

The CW: THE ROAD TO RECOVERY ─ At a Friday night dinner, Lorelai (Lauren Graham) works up the courage to tell her parents about the break-up of her marriage, but is derailed by their argument over the healthy meals and no-alcohol policy Emily (Kelly Bishop) has instituted to help Richard (Edward Herrmann) recover from his heart attack. Lorelai enlists Sookie (Melissa McCarthy) to bring Richard healthy but delicious meals, then helps Emily organize Richard’s business affairs. Over a shared bottle of scotch, Lorelai finally tells her mother about the breakup of her marriage. Rory (Alexis Bledel) attends an awkward birthday dinner for Logan (Matt Czuchry) with Mitchum Huntzberger (guest star Gregg Henry), who asks her to help him steer Logan in the right direction. Later, Logan receives disturbing news about the online company he purchased. Finally, Luke (Scott Patterson) shares his home with Liz (Kathleen Wilhoite), T.J. (Michael DeLuise) and their baby daughter while their house is being fumigated. Liza Weil and Sean Gunn also star. (#2T7765).

TVGuide: Lorelai and Rory attend Friday-night dinner, where Lorelai is reluctant to tell her mom about her and Christopher's marital problems. But Emily has enough on her plate when the recuperating Richard complains about his dietary restrictions and Emily's strict no-alcohol rule. Meanwhile, Rory plans a birthday celebration for Logan, whose dad calls to invite him and Rory to dinner instead; and Liz and T.J. stay with Luke while their home is fumigated because of a moth infestation.

Lorelai (Lauren Graham) takes over the shower-planning duties, and finds herself brokering peace between Lane and Mrs. Kim (Emily Kuroda) over how Lane plans to raise her twins. Logan (Matt Czuchry) finally admits his business disaster to Rory, who offers him her full support, but when Logan announces that he is flying to Las Vegas to blow off steam with his old college pals Colin and Finn, Rory is disappointed and worried. When Luke (Scott Patterson) discovers that Liz (Kathleen Wilhoite) and T.J. (Michael DeLuise) are trying to sell his boat, he decides to make some changes in his life and take April (Vanessa Marano) on a long boat trip over the summer. Back on topic, it still feels weird that the girls would leave Richard so soon after the operation, maybe Lorelai gets Luke to pay him a visit and with Sookie bring him some food.

For some reason, him paying solicitations to the townies does not please me. Rory doesn't need their approval, like Lorelai appears to.

I don't think she does either, but SH was such a part of Rory's life growing up and still is important to her that I'm really excited for Logan to be exposed to that part of her life beyond the things she's told him.

I have to disagree. I think Lorelai's always tried to seek her parent's approval and involvement in her own ways, and that's why she had her rant to Emily about Max and why she was so happy when they accepted Luke. I've always thought that Lorelai having another kid later on would be a great way to bring Lorelai and Emily/Richard closer together. Lorelai would want them in her child's life, and Emily/Richard would jump at the chance to actually be involved the way they missed out with Rory. It would also be an amazing opportunity for Lorelai/Emily to get things out that they still have pent up about how things happened 23 years ago. Maybe I've just read "Scenes From a Marriage" a few too many times, but I really don't feel like Lorelai would want to exclude her parents from everything a second time around.

She doesn't agree with her parents on most things, but I would never say she doesn't like them. I"m with Katie -- Lorelai very much seeks their approval, and when they show any sort of affection/appreciation, she is extremely touched. Those are the sweetest moments of the show, IMO. (Example: Lorelai's graduation. Absolutely loved when Emily cried and Lorelai saw...or when Lorelai said "thank you daddy" for the grad money.) Though there are many, many communication gaps in the Lorelai/Emily-Richard relationship, I think it has evolved into something much deeper and more significant than it was in season 1.

What makes you think that? To this very day, Lorelai's reluctant to have her parents in her life in any intimate way. Rory, if she were to have a child, is more likely to include Emily and Richard in her child's life than Lorelai.
