The problem is that Christopher is still her husband (by her choice no matter how poor it was) and father of her daughter. Rory, who unfortunately had to witness her grandfather collapse had already asked for Chris. And I wonder if Lorelai herself wasn't feeling guilt for not answer her own calls for a while, which kept Rory alone at the hospital longer than necessary.

So at that moment, with Richard at the hospital and her family suffering for him, the wiser thing to do was to avoid a confrontation. And I think Lorelai was very mature there.

I've said and thought it often...that I really don't think this is being played out as a Luke vs Chris scenario. She will come to terms about her marriage and relationship to Chris first. Her relationship with Luke--whatever form it would evolve to--would come later, and separately.

It was actually Chris who kind of stopped their conversation by saying he didn't want to talk about it.

She was saying she didn't think he was coming followed by his comment - clearly and then saying he brought food, she didn't call him - defending the fact that Luke was there.

I would have loved to have seen just a little bit anger towards him from Lorelai, but you're right - a big confrontation was not needed there.

Oh, I wasn't defending Christopher reasons there. My point was just that wasn't moment to a confrontation.

See, to me, the L/C parts of the epi played to me like Captain has suggested. That Chris had left her. Was done with the marriage. He only came BECAUSE he was being the bigger person and wanted to be there for Rory.

I mean, he didn't want to talk to Lorelai, or comfort her, and he left with Rory to go see Richard. He wasn't playing the husband, role, but the father role.

As for him taking so long to come, we also don't KNOW that he didn't come as soon as he heard. I'm sure this will be discussed in the next episode. But until I know for SURE that Chris got the messages and ignored them, I am choosing to believe he came when he found out. Whether he left his phone at home, or it needed charging etc.

I think his reasons won't make a difference to Lorelai at this point, but that it will make a difference to viewers like me, who don't hate Chris, and obviously to Rory as well.

I enjoyed the way they played off the Logan in a helicopter thing at first, like he was just there and no one thought anything about it, until he mentioned not having a car. Awesome. And then Rory having a little of a, "Woah. Helicopter owning hedge fund people? OK." She just amused me with the way she was about it. I like it when she is surprised by these sorts of things. It fits, to me.

Man Chris was really nasty with Luke. But I'm not gonna bash him, and I've already express my thoughts about last nite episode and how this show is starting anew using its solid foundation: the town, the gilmores, Rory and Lorelai and, of course, Luke. And Logan is in the picture too, which never hurts, condidering how thoughtful and lovely he was.
