She was saying she didn't think he was coming followed by his comment - clearly and then saying he brought food, she didn't call him - defending the fact that Luke was there. I would have loved to have seen just a little bit anger towards him from Lorelai, but you're right - a big confrontation was not needed there.

![]() That's exactly how they'll do it, IMO. We already had the Chris thing as a rebound for Luke. But Luke cannot be the rebound guy or one of the "I gotta choose between those 2" kinda guy. Chris and Luke are so different there's no way you can choose btw them and it's not even the issue. Lorelai was happy to see Chris in the end but she didn't hug him - like Rory did with Logan - and that was very telling. I think that during the emergency she realized he should be there for her but, in all honesty, she didn't miss him there, if you know what I mean. Last nite episode - I'll have to rewatch it too, as blaab said and I'm also glad I'm willing to rewatch it too! - was a sum of Christopher and Lorelai "going on for 20 years" relationship. All the townies were there for Lorelai (man did I LOVE Babette jungle sex fantasy scene and her wonderful choice of telling Luke? Yes I did ) then Rory was there too and Emily and Lorelai was there for her family and there was Luke, the "anything I can do I wanna do it" and "once he's in your life he's in your life forever" guy that has always been there.Chris wasn't there and, at a certain point, it's not like Lorelai did want him to be there, it's just that she felt like he should have been there since he's her husband. All these past years Chris hasn't been much of a father for Rory and hasn't been there for his girls. But in all honesty I never felt like Lorelai wanted him badly to be there - she wanted very badly to be in Luke's life and to partecipate of his relationship with April out of the deep love she had for Luke, but I've never felt like she had the urge to bring Chris in their lives. In Rory's life maybe, but not in her. That's it, that's how it has always been and always will be btw Lorelai and Chris. And last nite episode served DR to lay the ground for a new start: Lorelai will have Rory, Emily, Richard, Luke (as a friend for now) and the town as her solid ground forever. And from that ground Luke will soon re-emerge and be the man of her life out of the strongest bond they've always had and always will have: be there for each other. Just my 2 cents and my love heartfelt letter for a show that seems alive again. __________________ Wilson: No, you're not afraid of authority, you're afraid she actually is right for you. | See, to me, the L/C parts of the epi played to me like Captain has suggested. That Chris had left her. Was done with the marriage. He only came BECAUSE he was being the bigger person and wanted to be there for Rory. I mean, he didn't want to talk to Lorelai, or comfort her, and he left with Rory to go see Richard. He wasn't playing the husband, role, but the father role. As for him taking so long to come, we also don't KNOW that he didn't come as soon as he heard. I'm sure this will be discussed in the next episode. But until I know for SURE that Chris got the messages and ignored them, I am choosing to believe he came when he found out. Whether he left his phone at home, or it needed charging etc. I think his reasons won't make a difference to Lorelai at this point, but that it will make a difference to viewers like me, who don't hate Chris, and obviously to Rory as well. __________________ The Greatest Thing You'll Ever Learn, Is To Love, And Be Loved In Return

| Chris was being the bigger person? On what planet? He was being a cold, sulky, selfish, punishing jerk. Frist of all, he was the only one dressed up, what had he been doing before he finaly came to the hospital, going out for a nice dinner? I think Rory's tone of voice and face said it all when she asked Lorelai if she knew where her dad was. Out of the mouths of young adults! Rory, in her heart, already knows the score, from long experience. Loved the look Luke gave Chris when Chris tried to be snotty to him. | |||

I enjoyed the way they played off the Logan in a helicopter thing at first, like he was just there and no one thought anything about it, until he mentioned not having a car. Awesome. And then Rory having a little of a, "Woah. Helicopter owning hedge fund people? OK." She just amused me with the way she was about it. I like it when she is surprised by these sorts of things. It fits, to me. __________________ They say that all good things must end/Loves comes and goes just like the wind/You've got your dreams to follow/But if I had the chance tomorrow/You know I'd do it all again Last edited by notoutforawalk : 02-07-2007 at 08:48 AM.

| I think I'm gonna go now/Yeah you should. Man Chris was really nasty with Luke. But I'm not gonna bash him, and I've already express my thoughts about last nite episode and how this show is starting anew using its solid foundation: the town, the gilmores, Rory and Lorelai and, of course, Luke. And Logan is in the picture too, which never hurts, condidering how thoughtful and lovely he was. Quote:
Like when she was all "have you seen the cealing? woah, this house is so cool". I love her when she's like that. __________________ Wilson: No, you're not afraid of authority, you're afraid she actually is right for you. I loved seeing that. But I felt sorry for Lorelai. Seeing Logan and Rory hugging like that and not having your husband there at all. It was sad.

ITA BTW, did you notice that while Lorelai and Rory were pleased to see Christopher, Emily and LOGAN were very cool to him. I think Logan sees him as more akin to Mitchum then Rory does and I think he may point this out someday. Look how many phone calls Logan ignored, how he took a helicopter to see her and when she talks about him being there he says, "where else would I be?" Where indeed? So where is her dad? Lorelai's husband? the guy that upset his girlfriend by marrying her mom without her being there? HA

| Gad - it made me squirm when Lorelai tells Chris she didn't call Luke - really pathetic. He's gone all day and he strolls in as though he's their savior or something and she's makes excuses for her friend - again? There didn't have to be a fight or anything, but she just could have stopped Chris cold with one of her great expressions. But to simper about not having called Luke - bleah. Totally agree about Luke's look after Chris told him he should go - it really was "what a dick" look - kinda like the look on my face. | |||
