Oh - there has to be a Luke rant in there somewhere - I'm dyin' for one. I have been loving the more outwardly sweet Luke we have been seeing, but I've always known that was in him - I'm just missing some of his grumpiness and rants.

Can't remember when we last got a rant out of him....For some reason the last one I recall is the one in the limo about NY...which nicely lead to some goodness for L/L.

There must have been another one after that. There was the mini rant about Rory going back to school just before Lorelai proposed, but other than that can't remember. I want one.

Maybe to you, but not to Luke and not to Lorelai. The point of this is to show that those two are still connected heart and soul, and would drop anything to help each other, regardless of how uncomfortable they feel or how bizarre it would seem. And I doubt any of them (Rory included) are thinking about how inappropriate it is for him to be there.

Oh, I know about the reasons.

I was just wondering if she would be that honest and tell them to Christopher or if she just says that she doesn't want to be married to him.

Reason No.1 - she just doesn't love him enough to be married to him, spending the rest of her life with him, sharing the good and the bad with him, having another kid with him. Simple doesn't want to be with him.

Reason Mo.2 - he again abandoned his family especially his daughter because of his own needs. He can't jump over his own shadow for once and just be there for the people he claims he loves so much and wants to be a family with. He clearly doesn't know what that means and that's why she says Bye Bye to him.

But isn't honesty the best policy? Wasn't that the big lesson from last week?

Well, that certainly wasn't the case last season, when Luke pushed Lorelai away, wouldn't allow her near his daughter, and hardly noticed that she was upset. He certainly didn't drop everything to elope with her either.

See reason number 1 would mean she's been lying all this time. Even talking to Sookie about a baby in the future and mentioning the subject had been brought up like she was considering it. And all those ILY too were a big fat lie I guess. But I'm fine with that. Not fine as in I agree, but I know I'll have to sit through this part of their talk.
See the LOVE enough thing comes and goes in GG, expecially with Lorelai and Christopher. First she said she would always love him - in s1 - that HE wasn't ready to commit. Then she said she wanted to be with him and she was devastated by Sherry pregnancy in s2/s3. Then she said she never actually loved him to the shrink. Than she throws all those ILY.
I think that the love factor - not in real life, just here in tvland - comes and goes depending on the show runner and/or the SL they have decided to support.

But it's mostly reason number 2 that I wanna hear out loud. Actually reason number 2 would give a new meaning to this nonesense journey and, most of all, would finally close the Christopher chapter and all those "if we only have had the chance to be together" loose ends will be finally wrapped up.

And that was pure rubbish, was truly bizarre and was the most contrived twist to this storyline. What we are seeing now is the REAL Luke and Lorelai. I'd like to thank DR for reminding us.

I don't think she has been "lying" to him, she has been lying to herself.

The look on her face when they get back from Paris says it all. She was unsure about the marriage. After Paris, she really tried to make it work with Chris and was determined to make her marriage work.

But then the letter came in to the picture and Chris and his actions - and then she is finally honest to herself. She doesn't want to be in the marriage and keep trying to make it work. It should be working from the beginning.

Perhaps she loves him, but she is not IN love with him. There is a difference. She could have meant she loved him.

Chris was there. Spent time with her. Took her mind off of things. She didn't want to deal with anything and Chris went along with it. When she came back from Paris with that ugly ring on her finger, it all of a sudden hit her but now she was in that situation and tried to deal with it as best as she could. She wanted it to work because she thought that was it for her. Luke told her they were not meant to be, they tried it and didn't work. So she turned to Chris because he was there. Simple as that. I bet if he hadn't there or so hadn't been so willing to take her she wouldn't have considered him at all.
