She should add: And now I have to go! It would be perfect (for me!)!

Maybe she's Rory's new love interest?

First, thank heaven for Paris, it's like the actress writes her own material, it's so much better then the rest. Second, the missed vasectomy sl wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, not totally senseless. And good to see Richard being Richard. But, how lame can Friday night dinners get? Oh, the tedious conversation and love fest, yuk yuk yuk! Maybe it was their nuaseating nice/nice patter that put a bad taste in their mouths, not the quail. And I agree with all the comments about the freaking coffee, totally inane. And after all the debate about "was Luke a father figure to Rory", poor old Rory didn't even get a mention in the L/C fight (and was that a fight? Lorelai begging and Chris pouting is a fight?) . HOPEFULLY THIS WILL PUT TO BED THE WHOLE CHRIS IS A BETTER FATHER THEN HE SEEMS ARGUMENT. HE APPARENTLY COULD CARE LESS IF LUKE IS A FATHER FIGURE TO RORY. ALL HE CARES ABOUT IS LORELAI AND WHETHER HE IS NUMBER 1 WITH HER. Not to mention the wierd detached way Lorelai talks about Luke and her engagement, like it all took places years ago, not just last spring. I keep thinking she'll get her brain back from the Stepford Wives factory but it's still missing in the mail. Why didn't she ask Chris why he doesn't trust her? Why he thinks so little of her? Why he's such a big pouty baby? No she just kept pawing at him and whinning. This is a journey? Maybe back in time to when she was needy and hopeless and to blame for everyone else's feelings. When will Christopher finally be gone?

Since S1 it was clear that only Loooor counts.....

Mmmh, cause he knows that she cheated on Luke with him....

To take the letter issue to a whole new level or

to level with Chris about the letter or

to check that the letter's significance hadn't rendered the drawer unleveled or

because she needs to maintain a level head in all this ....

I won't go on - I'm random and silly and have taken this to a whole new level low.

Enjoyed reading your posts, great thread title....

Okay some of my "things that make you go Hmm??" about the eppy....

Why did Lorelei have on practically the same outfit after her shower at the beginning of the episode? She hasn't done her laundry yet

What happened to Emily's hair? Seemed Normal to me

Why would Chris look for a level in Lorelei's drawer? Because Lorelai "borrowed" it to try and hypnotize PA

Since when did Richard start calling Rory "honey"? That is new

How MANY producers and executive producers were there for this episode? (I expected to see my name after Lauren Graham's.) There are 8 writers, plus the director, plus Helen Pai, plus Gavin Palone & ASP, plus LG.

What happened to Gel Boy? (Lucy has more screen time.) Jess was written out after S4.

How much have I missed Paris and is she looking great lately or what? Yes she is

Didn't Lorelei's desperate "But, I love you" to Chris sound a lot like the way she said it to Luke in Partings? Yep.

Don't you think Luke might call someone else besides his ex to tell his good news?
(as much as I love LL, it's a bit silly.) Other than Liz, who would he call?

So Chris DID have this whole thing figured out and knew he was the second choice all along? Third, actually, after MAX and Luke

Wasn't it great to see that Paul Anka is still alive? But, where is GIGI, people?!?!? With her Grandma. We saw her last week, remember?

Was Lucy less annoying or was it just me? She had only one seen--and she spent most of it being dominated by Paris

How annoying was the shameless movie plug by Lauren Graham? Beats the Aerie Girls

How dramatic was that fade to black at the end? With the "Call 911," very
That's it for another edition of Ask the Captain.

Thanks for the clips Babette!

I liked the movie plug. And I agree with the Captain, it sure beats the hell out of the Aerie Girls.

My manager was talking about an article in the NYT about product placement and he asked me if I knew what would be listed for GG. I started rambling out a list of things that they might have mentioned and when I paused for breath, he mentioned that the item discussed in the NYT was Pop-Tarts. That made me giggle, because I never thought about the fact that Lorelai's little journey was kicked off with some straight up product placement. Hee.

Let me start by saying that I loved loved loved this ep. Rory, Rory at Yale ... that was great to see again. With Richard (I missed him!), Paris (missed her!) and Lucy (didn't miss her, but did like her ) ... I really liked the whole Sookie/babysitting/pregnant/Lorelai-bit! For some reason the whole custody thing didn't do so much for me, seeing Luke so happy after hearing he won, did make me all happy. I also liked the way this letter and Lorelai/Chris was shown. And I thought his coffee-line was very Gilmore Girls-like to use at a moment like that.

About what I saw and how I feel, I am gonna go the easy-route, because I feel Not and Secret already said it

Yep, I still think that is the case. I think she did not tell him she wanted to elope right before she slept with Chris. Remember Chris saying how she did want the big wedding with that DINER GUY ... which wasn't the case, she would have happily eloped that night and get hitched without a party ... Chris throwing that in her face, made me feel then that he does not know about this.

(Sorry, I just don't get the impression that she thinks about him at all, unless he is in her face. I said back in the fall that they weren't selling any kind of unrequited feeling on her part and with the exception of a moment or two last week, I don't really think they are.) We have a spoiler that Rory has no new love interests, yet the ep description implies there is. The promo guys really are evil, aren't they?

I am still expecting lemon tart's spec from the fall, with Lorelai finally hitting rock bottom after the split. I actually kind of liked that spec back then. I didn't realize how late in the season that Chris was still going to be around.
Totally, especially the bolded part. I am also still expecting Lemons spec to happen ...

Thanks Blaab for the clips!
How many time do I have to listen.. I love you.. I love you... to a different guy. I don't know anymore what the writers are doing. At this point in her life, she shoud be a little bit more mature. Of course you can love two guys, not in the same way, but you can. What you can not do is walking around your life hurting people and hurting yourself again and again.
I don´t buy this story line, and I don´t like the way she chooses to go through love.

Well I was going to go this way too. But honestly: Chris knows he wasn't there for his daughter in the past. He has accepted that, well he has been pouting 'bout and get consoled by Lorelai, but you get my point.

To be honest I didn't read anything romantic into Lorelai's letter to Luke. It was really focused on Rory and on how dependable and strong Luke is.
Am I the only one who thinks the letter wasn't romantic at all and Chris took just a few words out of it to support his own fears?

I freakin' totally agree. And I'm glad secret, I'm not the only one who thought that letter wasn't romantic at all.

Agree. I didn't feel the letter was romantic at all. I couldn't understand Chris saying that it could be considered as a love letter cause it really wasen't.

One more thing - I'm sorry for bringing this up but it just hit me. When Lorelai decided to not marry Chris when she was 16 and to bring up Rory on her own - Why didn't Chris go to college? Princeton was it, wasen't it? What did he do?

I have no idea. I think - but I might be wrong - that he didn't apply to colleges because Lorelai was pregnant and he was considering marrying her.
Then he lost momentum for college, Lorelai had refused to marry him so he bought a bike and left his parents house and, I don't know, spent years travelling around?

About the future episodes: I am still hoping though that the break up will have something to do with Chris not having any trust in Lorelai. Because, honestly, his attitude is what justified but is also pushing things exactly in the direction he fear the most.
And ppl may say that Lorelai not wanting to leave Stars Hollow or do the vows renewal has to do with her feelings for Luke. But other than those 2 specific episodes - she mentioned having kids last nite to Sookie, so the "she doesn't want a kid from Chris because she doesn't love him" isn't true - I haven't felt a single time that she had still feelings for Luke. I mean she has feelings for Luke but more like dear and warm kinda thing.
Never saw her like a lover craving for her man to come back.
