I'm pretty sure that Ciao pointedly said that it was a romantic kind NOT just an academic crush.

I think she's going to blame Lorelai for having blown all this to hell because she kept this from Chris. Thinking that if she had been honest, maybe it wouldn't have happened.
I don't think I'm going to speculate on how Rory will react. I don't think we've ever had a real glimpse into her feelings on the situation yet, which must be more complex than, "It's nice my parents got back together. As long as Mom's happy, I'm happy."

But if I were to guess at her feelings, I think she was shocked and upset about the suddenness of the marriage, but decided there was nothing she could do but accept it. In Knit People Knit, she did appear a bit suspicious about Lorelai during dinner at the Gilmores. So I think she had her misgivings about whether the marriage, given how impetuous it was, would last. But maybe now she feels she can relax and accept the marriage, and in the last scene she did seem to really like being with her dad and half-sister. If I were Rory I'd be pretty upset if the marriage broke up--and I don't even want to think about Gigi. Poor, poor Gigi really seems to want to develop a relationship with Lorelai.

Which brings me to Lorelai. This was the first episode this season that I really felt Lorelai was still in love with Luke. And that conversation with Chris on the promo was different than I thought it would be. I was really glad to see that Chris didn't seem to be just in an irrational jealous rage. He was asking Lorelai pretty calmly about her feelings. I know about the spoiler that says Lorelai will end it, but I do think Chris is going to accept it. Even from those few seconds in the promo I got the feeling that after reading the letter, deep down Chris knew where Lorelai's feelings were and that he might have to let her go.

But Lorelai, Lorelai, Lorelai...why does she have to have these realizations about Luke after marrying another man (and becoming stepmother to his child?) I know this has been brought up before, but Lorelai didn't show any signs of even thinking about Luke for the half a year that she's been broken up with him. I hope Chris lets her go. I don't even know what Lorelai wants anymore, I think she is deeply confused, but she always gets what she wants, and I hope Chris realizes that and bows out gracefully.

If you dont know what it is. How do you know how to get it?

While the GGWT has had a hard time with TIME-MANAGEMENT SKILLZ this season. I will give them much dap for this episode. Since it was clearly an episode all about FAMILY. A family that has never been until now. A man making up for lost time with a daughter who is becoming his family. And finally a young family starting off on their very own adventure. Few episodes have been as very wistful as this episode. It was sad, but a good kind of sad. Easily one of my favourite episodes of this show...EVER.

I will state this; Rory's big first-half storyline was resolved via some of the most deft dialogue in the history of this series. However, her entire storyline, was RESOLVED IN 2 MINUTES! Rory deserves so much better than that treatment. While I love that Rory finally accepted her own **** does smell. She's A GILMORE! A GILMORE DESERVES MORE than her ENTIRE FIRST-HALF STORYLINE being resolved so quickly and deftly. I hope to Amy, that Rory has more of a role in a season which should be REVOLVING around her. If not, then, the show should end. Since the future lies with Type-0...not THE END. See? Eureka Seven is a much better reference.

Oh yeah, next week, is going to cause a lot of problems on this forum. Nothing will be more revisionist or OOC to have Lorelai think of Luke as a father-figure for Rory. This is bordering on ridiculous. He's not a father-figure to Rory. That Lorelai thinks he is...well...Chris has every right to slump off and be pissed. He has carried his guilt for years. That Lorelai would tell him "IT'S NO BIG DEAL." While refering to another man -- whose his rival -- as a FATHER FIGURE. Easily ranks as one of the worst moves made by Lorelai Gilmore in the history of this series. She deserves to have her marriage fail. Not only because she decided to ignore her heart because of sheer stubborness. She also betrayed someone in such a way that there's no coming back from.

Again I'm sorry Sher and thank you for all you work on the recaps.

When I was out in LA, I ran into a few members of the Gilmore Girls cast at the various network parties. Whenever I brought up the topic of whether there's going to be another season or not, the answer I got didn't seem to vary much. It wasn't definitive by any means, but the general feeling was that, yes, we're probably seeing the last episodes of the long-running show.

That is what I thought when the casting notice was posted: that the TA would help Rory to make decisions about her future in a grad school. Sometimes is easier to talk with young teachers because they still aren't so far from the students reality. (I don't know if I make sense)

ETA: Thank you, Sher

I really liked the episode tonight, all the interaction with other characters and the alone time with Lorelai and Rory. Lorelai looked pretty reflective and sad when she placed the letter in the envelope and mailed it. No doubt and as Sookie mentioned, having to dig up her memories to write the letter has forced her to confront her feelings for Luke. You could really see she’s not over him. They were many telling looks that Lorelai gave Luke in this episode. And the snow!! Finally it falls as she mails the letter to Luke. Is that telling or what?

I have a few scenes of the meeting at the mall, the typing of the letter and mailing it. Anyone interested in getting a copy of the files in advance of the “cough”?

If so, PM me an e-mail address to send them to.

Yes; let us all rejoice that the AERIE GIRLS were not picked up for the second-half of the season. Apparently, American Eagle, are happy with their quarterly numbers. They should not be, but they are.

Craig, yeah, that was last year. This is a new year. There will be a full-court press to continue the show. Again, if you follow the money. The money has always been put aside for Kim and for Lauren. It would be foolish for either one to turn it down. It would also be a bit silly for them to turn it down because of TIME. When, really, I figured out a way to split the time between them. Veteran TV writers should be able to figure out such a way to do the same...as well.

It's not revisionist. In the S5 dvd commentary for YJIJJ, Daniel Palladino himself said that Luke was a father figure to Rory.

I don't think so, Jason. This is LORELAI's version of events, which is why it will hurt Chris so much. If Lorelai really thought Rory needed a larger male presence in her life, why did she never say anything to him, why did she dismiss his guilt earlier in the season? But Rory declined to write the letter for Lorelai, and she could have. And she never said Luke was *like a father to me*. This is Lorelai. Not Rory. And I, for one, am not bothered by that.

She's finally letting the damn of anger against him open up and beginning to let it go. This isn't surprising, to me, nor upsetting.
