I’d like to remind you all that this is the main Gilmore Girls spoiler thread, and as such, posters from various shipper groups are free to post here, so if you see someone saying something that you don’t like about “your” favorite character or couple, don’t start fighting with them on this thread, and don’t go into a Gilmore Girls shipper thread if you don’t like the couple that the shipper thread is for. Episode 7.11 - Santa's Secret Stuff

TheCW: Rory (Alexis Bledel) returns from London after the holidays. Lorela (Lauren Graham) is disappointed that Rory celebrated Christmas in London with Logan, but decides to have a "Christmas after Christmas" celebration as a new family complete with trees, decorations and shopping. Luke (Scott Patterson) asks Lorelai to write a character recommendation letter for his custody battle with Anna over April

TheCW: LORELAI MAKES CHRISTMAS WAIT FOR RORY'S RETURN -- Rather than celebrating Christmas while Rory (Alexis Bledel) is in London over the holidays, Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Christopher (David Sutcliffe) decide to put their holidays on hold.
Once Rory returns to Stars Hollow, they decorate several Christmas trees, do their shopping and even bake Christmas cookies for the first time as a family. Turning up unexpectedly at the inn, Luke (Scott Patterson) asks Lorelai to write a character recommendation letter for his custody battle over April (Vanessa Marano). Lorelai struggles to write the letter until she and Rory run into Luke and April at the mall and Lorelai suddenly remembers how important Luke has always been in Rory's life. Inspired, Lorelai writes the letter and mails it to Luke's attorney.
Rory decides she will write an apology letter to her friend Lucy (Krysten Ritter), explaining why she and Marty kept their past friendship a secret. Melissa McCarthy and Keiko Agena also star. Lee Shallat Chemel directed the episode written by Rebecca Rand Kirshner.

TV Guide.com: Since a Christmas celebration was postponed while Rory was in London, the festivities begin when she crosses the pond, marking the first time Rory, Lorelai, and Christopher celebrate as a family; Luke asks Lorelai to write a letter of recommendation on his behalf in his custody battle over April; and Rory writes a letter apologizing to Lucy for keeping her relationship with Marty a secret and explaining the reasons why she did.

The CW: GOOD NEWS/BAD NEWS — Noticing Sookie’s (Melissa McCarthy) recent odd behavior, Lorelai (Lauren Graham) forces Jackson (Jackson Douglas) to tell her the reason. Luke (Scott Patterson) and Anna (Sherilyn Fenn) attend a hearing to decide their custody battle over April (Vanessa Marano). With help from Paris (Liza Weil), Rory (Alexis Bledel) finally makes amends with Lucy (Krysten Ritter), who tells her that she and Marty (Wayne Wilcox) have broken up. While attending Richard’s (Edward Herrmann) economics class at Yale, Rory witnesses a frightening scene. Finally, Christopher (David Sutcliffe) finds the letter Lorelai wrote for Luke’s character reference and confronts Lorelai about whether he was her second choice. Jamie Babbit directed the episode written by David Babcock (#2T7762).

From The CW: RICHARD IS HOSPITALIZED — In the hospital waiting room, Lorelai (Lauren Graham), Rory (Alexis Bledel) and Emily (Kelly Bishop) anxiously await word on Richard’s (Edward Herrmann) condition. When Logan (Matt Czuchry) hears what is happening, he borrows a helicopter to be by Rory’s side, but Lorelai is unable to reach Christopher (David Sutcliffe), who is still angry over their fight the night before. Upset by Emily’s attempt to remain calm by dealing with her social calendar, Lorelai is relieved when Luke (Scott Patterson) shows up unannounced and volunteers to run errands for Emily. Christopher finally arrives to be with Lorelai, but the scene at the hospital is more than he can take.

TV Guide.com: While Lorelai, Rory and Emily wait at the hospital for news of Richard's condition, Logan borrows a helicopter so that he can be there with Rory, and Luke arrives to help out and ends up running errands for Emily. Meanwhile, Lorelai cannot reach Christopher, to whom she hasn't talked since he stormed out of the house.

From Ausiello: This episode marks a major turning point in the Luke/Lorelai/Christopher triangle. Apparently, Luke and Christopher choose to deal with Richard's health crisis in very different ways: Luke chooses to run around helping Emily, while Christopher chooses to go off and sulk about a bad fight he had with Lorelai. Cue the inevitable Lorelai epiphany.

Heh, I've said before, there are no victims on this thread, just a bunch of bad citizens. Most times those screaming victim are some of the worst offenders. It's like the flopping that goes on in the NBA.

Me too, ME TOO! Someone brought up if Emily and/or Richard would be in this episode, sadly, I don't think so. I miss having as much Stache & Pearls as we've had in the past. Though I guess that means we'll have more in the second 1/2 of the season. Which is good. Though I don't want all of Richard's scenes to be him comatose.

I'm not big on shipper labels, but I'll bite on that. How does Rory feel about her dad? Do we even know? The writers and showrunners hardly attach any importance to it. We've seen Rory's feelings in passing now and then, although rarely as it relates to herself, but they've really never made her feelings all that clear. She's apparently willing to overlook a lot, but it hasn't all been sunshine and roses, and she's been angry and ready to write him off more than once. She's still not open with him even though he's in her life, opting to not let him know she was unhappy about the marriage, so I doubt it's all behind her. There's been a real love-hate relationship there, and it's too bad the writers don't follow through with some of this instead of whitewashing the issues every Chris shows up.

She's very forgiving of him, but that doesn't mean I have to forgive him too. If Rory was real, she'd have real emotional struggles because he's her dad, whereas I could stand back and judge it objectively, and I wouldn't have to suck it up just because Rory does. I might have to keep my opinions to myself for Rory's sake, but that's about it. I don't like the kind of person he is, period, and that's not hating him for the sake of it, or because of the current storyline, but because of who he was, or wasn't, while Rory was growing up.

He's trying now, kudos to Chris, but any remorse so far has been more about what he missed out on, and not what Rory missed. Maybe if we see some real father-daughter scenes, with the hurt and disappointment hashed out, and Chris really letting Rory know (instead of telling Lorelai) how sorry he is, I might see him in a better light. Until then, there's nothing for me to like.

damselfly, it would be great to have Lorelai, Chris and Rory do a thing like on "Friday night is alright for fighting" Nothing too much changed after that but it was good to see everyone speak their mind and to have some continuity as well as dropped sl's addressed a little bit, not to mention them all interelating like a family. To actually give Rory words as to how she really feels about Chris as a father and the elopement and marriage and break up. And for Lorelai and Chris to end it with eachother on a note of honesty. Maybe then Lorelai would know how to clear the air with Luke as well so they could try again but do it better.

damselfly I also wonder how Rory feels, she doesn't want him hurt so want Lorelai to tell him about the letter, kinda like she was with Luke telling her mother to do something.

ckomodo I thought we had a spoiler that they shot something at the mansion with the girls and Chris, so could we have a FND with Rory and Gigi in ep 11 or 12?
