Okay having a few weeks here and there could work, I get it now but as you said nothing is 100% yet, thanks for the info.

If Gilmore goes well against AI next week and the SotU the week after, it'll give CW the idea that yes the show can perform against Idol. Therefore why waste it against the non-performance rounds instead throwing new episodes of GG against the performance rounds to counter-act it. So instead of airing Gilmore in Feb Sweeps they might go for Hidden Palms or the Pussycat Dolls program instead - yes I know it can be considered a death trap to yank your show off during the vital advertising period aka Sweeps, but it could be something that CW might use to allow their shows to come back later on with a whole heap of episodes instead of say 5 or 6.
Could this be another indication of no Season 8, I mean if they are not worried about next years ad money (not having it on for some sweeps weeks) then they'll put it on at other times.

If you understand what I mean.

Why worry about sweeps weeks if they numbers are not needed for next years rates for a program not coming back.

Do you know if this only affects GG, or other CW shows as well? I think people are assuming it's about show(s) that face off against AI - would you know if that's correct?
I believe it affects GG and OTH, but I honestly haven't checked into the other shows. This is nothing definite anyways. But it wouldn't surprise me if the schedule doesn't run like this: ep. 11-16/17...hiatus of 4/5 weeks and then 17/18-22, which the show has basically done the last several years.

Just one little point ... GG won't be going up against the State of the Union. Veronica Mars will. Not arguing, just pointing this out.
I know that but in the past only FOX and CW (well WB) have been the networks to not air a repeat in the 8pm timeslot hence why it's Gilmore Girls chance to get a good audience against a weak competition (excl. AI).

curlyhead it definitely seems like it's to do with the AI competition since they're the two they've highlighted so far. If the show wants to air an episode while I'm in US, I sure wouldn't say no to that (since I plan trips perfectly that they always fall in the middle of the various hiatuses).

ITA and that's what I've been thinking all along.

...but could they do things different if this is the last season?

Please don't put my tidbit in the spoiler section. At this point, it's just something thrown around the network. I just thought I would mention it.

Might be too late once the news/tidbit is out.

FYI - Jim has posted a copy of this weeks promo on FB.

Curlyhead is referring to it isn't being a spoiler because it isn't confirmed therefore I could totally understand why it shouldn't be in the SS.

Friday's CW press tour day, they've got Supernatural, Hidden Palms and Pussycat Dolls being showcased.

If Gilmore Girls is mentioned at all on Friday (excl. CW party that night) then it'll be in the general section of the CW presentation because the other three shows will be filling up a large part of the day.

Why do those three shows take precedence over other CW shows, gossipcom? Are they trying to bolster ratings/awareness? Or is GG scheduled on a different day?

January 19 is the day allocated to CW at the Press Tour.

Hidden Palms and the Pussycat Dolls program are mid-season replacements so it's the first chance to showcase them. Not 100% sure why they're showcasing Supernatural, my first reaction is it's because they showcased Smallville and 7th Heaven at last year's Winter Press Tour while GG and VM had the Summer Press Tour. Also because it's stuck against GA/CSI in the ratings so it needs to be showcased

Hidden Palms and Pussycat Dolls sounds like the name of a stripper club and it's employees, respectively.
