Did we see Emily concerned about all this fluff the last time Richard was in the hospital? No. (And this hospital emergency appears to be even MORE serious.) These writers have made Emily into a joke with no actual human reactions. Note the way she acted with that young girl who was at an FND, practically screaming at her. All they know is how to make her into a cartoon character and this suits the plot fine, because now Luke can save her from her shallow, superfluous self! This is not the so beloved last episode where Richard was in the hospital -- what was that called? -- mark my words!

The last time Richard collapsed at home and Emily went to the hospital the same time. I honestly don't remember if richard regained consciousness at home before being transported to the hospital. This time he collapses at Yale doesn't he?? So, Emily may not know anything about his condition, just that he had another heart attack....so instead of running around getting the best room and pillows, this time she may be sitting in a waiting room for news of whether he'll pull through. I suppose it also could be possible that she's in the middle of something when she gets a call to come to the hospital, that Richard is out of danger, and when she gets there she's trying to clear up whatever she was in the middle of so she can stay there with Richard. There are lots of ways that this could be played that don't make it automatic character assassination

"When a Man loves a woman" sounds good too.
