The schedule will be determined based on the ratings because of the sweeps month and all. I'm just saying that there may not be the usual spring hiatus like we have had in the past on the WB.

If they ratings are high they wouldn't have the hiatus to keep ratings up? Or if they're low they'll get rid of the hiatus for some reason?

With GG up against Idol with the "family" promo they show of L/RC/G will not make people watch...in my opnion.
AI is more entertaining then that "perfect" family promo!

How could they keep up with this schedule, logistically? Production-wise, it would fry them.

I could definitely see them airing an episode / repeat every second week till May or finishing the various CW shows up before the May sweeps if they don't perform, aka the ones against Idol.

I'm very interested actually to see where Hidden Palms and the Pussycat Dolls program end up slotting into the schedule.

Well the season will be wrapped up by mid-April production wise. Logistically it would just be possible. But more likely that they'd take a week off somewhere in the middle to allow for it to happen.

You can be a true fan and watch both. I'll be tivo-ing GG and watching it after-the-fact a few times. But I'm still a true fan.

idol could be the breaking point as to whether or not CW will fight for another year of GG. If idol sucks all the ratings and GG's below 4 mil all through sweeps, things won't be good. let's just hope GG doesn't take a huge ratings dive.

gossipcom, I think that this is a good way of interpreting this. What I am saying is that The CW may not do the hiatus the same way as the WB did. It's not definite.

And then what will they air? A test pattern?

Thank you for sharing that, curlyhead.

Do you know if this only affects GG, or other CW shows as well? I think people are assuming it's about show(s) that face off against AI - would you know if that's correct?

eta: Didn't the WB end its series mid-May and play dead for the last few weeks of sweeps anyway? At least in recent years.

Well GG has a strong consistant fan base thats at least 4.5 mil right? Even against AI all those years it still was able to pull through and maybe once CL are over pple will be intrested again.
Being an obsessed GG and AI fan i still stand by GG and will watch it cause its needs the ratings onlike AI which is already great rating wise. I still watch the show, just i tape it. But when GG would be on repeats i'd put AI. But I'll still tune into AI its just hte casual otehr GG viewers im conserned who will stop watching because of AI.

What does that mean, no break and the show ends early?

Now while I love the idea of 12 eps back to back will they have them made in time?

The other way to look at it is this way and it's an extremely different way (and it applies to the shows going against Idol, House and GA/CSI):

If Gilmore goes well against AI next week and the SotU the week after, it'll give CW the idea that yes the show can perform against Idol. Therefore why waste it against the non-performance rounds instead throwing new episodes of GG against the performance rounds to counter-act it. So instead of airing Gilmore in Feb Sweeps they might go for Hidden Palms or the Pussycat Dolls program instead - yes I know it can be considered a death trap to yank your show off during the vital advertising period aka Sweeps, but it could be something that CW might use to allow their shows to come back later on with a whole heap of episodes instead of say 5 or 6.

Just one little point ... GG won't be going up against the State of the Union. Veronica Mars will. Not arguing, just pointing this out.
