Then, just when she begins to adjust--bang!--her father and new stepmom divorce and everything gets turned upside down again. Poor Gigi.
If the time span between 7:11 and 7:13 is just a few days, I am thinking that Gigi would not be in the CS long enough to establish a bond with her new family unit to be deeply hurt by the breakup. Her bond so far is with Christopher and not Lorelai. She already considers Lorelai her aunty and has never seen Rory on a regular basis, so what little time she spends at the CS, after the marriage, would not be any different from what she is already use to.

Gigi comes back in 7:11 which is probably sometime in January (since Lorelai and Christopher delayed celebrating Christmas until Rory returns from London). In 7:13, the Gilmore family spends the entire episode at the hospital so Gigi is more than likely not there. The only questionable length of time spent with the family will be in 7:12. Is she in that episode? If not, she could be spending time at her grandmother. We can surmise that part of 7:12 will be spent at the hospital because that’s when Richard collapses so how much time does Gigi really spend with the family? Possibly in 7:14 Lorelai tells Christopher she wants out of the marriage which places the time somewhere in February. So the time span Gigi spends with her new family is either a few days or 2-3 weeks top.

I am not trying to make light of Gigi’s hurt when the breakup occurs all I saying is that the writers might have taken this into consideration when they orchestrated the breakup and intentionally reduced the time she spent bonding with her new family to minimize any emotional impact on her and possibly not make Lorelai seem so heartless when she walks away from her.

Could it have something to do with Gigi, and perhaps her maybe wanting to stay with her mom in Paris? And since Lorelai makes the first step towards the break up, Chris doesn’t hesitate long and wants to stay with Gigi in Paris.

And does it mean something that you said break-up and not divorce? Just curious.

My next favorite is the one where Rory says no to Jess when he wants to have sex at that party.

Another favorite is the one where Rory says to him "I think I may have loved you." (Not exactly a ringing endorsement.)

Some people hate Luke. (Not me. I've always liked Luke very much, and whenever I find myself becoming mildly annoyed with him, all I have to do is think about the lake scene, and suddenly I'm happy again.)

Some people hate Chris. (Not me, although of course, his shortcomings as a father are well documented.)

Some people hate Logan. (Not me, obviously.)

Some people hate Jess. (Yep, guilty as charged.)

Where is the love, indeed?

I've noticed that nobody seems to hate Dean. I wonder why that would be?
I really hated Dean's hair. Does that count?

Nope.

And Jason, don't be so sure that Lorelai will get off scot free this time.

Actually, Chris is the one who has always gotten off "scot free." He has never been held accountable for his ongoing neglect of Rory.

And how exactly does Lorelai get off "scot free?" She's almost 40, and has never been able to make a relationship work, and she's still alone.

Just the impression I get.

And agree to disagree on the latter. Unless you're purely talking about season 7; because if so, I can't put up much of an argument. But try me for anything pre-7.

Jason, what I don't get is how Lorelai breaking up with Chris is the writer giving her the easy way out. Isn't it just the opposite? Isn't this what we've wanted- for her to own up to her bad decisions, and face the consequences?

And yes, I'm happy.

Maybe Rory stops speaking to her and that's why she falls back on Luke again -- like she did during the first rift -- because her daughter is totally disgusted with her. I'm tellin' ya, Rory needs to distance herself from this crowd.

Peachy, yes, all hail LORELAI. THE GREAT AND WONDERFUL LORELAI. Whatever. As if Chris has not held himself accountable. Yeah, you know, if you stopped hating CHRIS for all of TWO SECONDS. You might be able to see that in GLOWING DETAIL!

Sara, again, if you are under some sort of embargo. Cool. If not, how does ALWAYS WINNING LORELAI, not get off scot free? Unless Capa is right, and Chris keeps on fighting for her. This is nothing more than a bunch of bull**** at this point and time. ETA: Yes, Rory needs to give her mom the DOUBLE-BARRELL FLIP-OFF. Followed by her telling her mom to go take a long walk off a short pier. After which, Rory gets her stuff, and as she and Logan walk out the door. Logan turns towards Lorelai and says; "FACE!"

That's Lorelai's problem, not everyone else's. Yet, she has so far seemed to blame everyone else but herself.

Lorelai's alone because she wants to be alone. Her relationships fail because she never totally gives herself to anyone. Everyone has to do things her way or she's not all in. I don't feel sorry for her.

Even if Lorelai does not get off scot free. She will get off...scot free. Since the show has to written to have everything go her way at some point. When, really, outside of moments with her daughter and moments at the end. This character has such flaws that unlike every other CHARACTER on this SHOW. She does not even TRY to fix them. All she does is go from one happenstance to another. Without any real realizations about anything for longer than maybe 2 hours. Chris has not grown up. Lorelai has not grown up. This alone should have made this marriage last a lot longer!

Jason and others, how do you want Lorelai to "pay" for all of this? I doubt or at least I hope that she doesn't fly back into Luke's arm. In fact, I hope there is a lot of uncertainty there and a lot of "Lorelai thinking about what she's done with her life" sort of thing. There will be a wealth of consequences, concerning Rory, Gigi, her parents, Luke, CHRIS, etc, etc, etc.

So what do you want? I don't get it.

Personally, I am siding with Laura at this moment in time. I want Lorelai to be alone. I want her to be alone for awhile. If she cannot be alone. I want Luke to look in her face and tell her; "**** YOU." If she wanted to work with him. Luke may have decided to work with her. Instead she had to get all FINITE on their relationship by screwing Chris. Lorelai needs to be DRIVEN INTO THE GROUND LIKE A SPIKE. She needs to be levelled by some guy, that she realizes that she loves all of a sudden. When LITTLE MISS CANT BE WRONG spent all of last year being pissed at him for not doing what she WANTED HIM TO DO. Which he should have done anyway, but that is besides the point. I want Lorelai to feel some pain. I want her to be so hurt, that she does not leave bed for a week. Maybe then, she will stop being an ******* to her parents, and get that SELF-RIGHTEOUS STICK out of her ass. She needs to be humbled. Unless she's humbled. She's never going to learn the lesson. The lesson being; OPENING YOURSELF UP, DOES NOT ALWAYS MEAN YOU WILL GET HURT. She never gives herself to anyone. Enough of that **** already.

And how do people know that Lorelai ending this marriage isn't her attempt to correct what she feels is a very big mistake? Wouldn't she be more unsympathetic if she stayed in the marriage knowing that it was the wrong thing to do?
