I guess it answers one question, Lorelai is trying to get Chris but can't, Luke steps up. So does this make it a Luke v Chris things? "you were not here for me, bye bye, I want a divorce"

So I guess 30.3% of voters picked it, congrats to TheJSW, lemon tart, wej5541, GEORGEIII, fox24, catkirk7, gilmorebrazil, Bella21, elduccia and Jessica1020.
Slow down, Craig. We have no idea yet if he knows. She's trying to contact him, yes. That doesn't mean he didn't listen to the voice mail and is either taking time to get there or that he decides not to go...

I'm going back to the death as being an object of some kind. But even if it is a pet, like Kirks, when I think about no one caring, I think of the main people, Lorelai, Rory, Luke, Sookie, Lane, etc (that is if this is a townie/SH type thing). They really won't be all that moved by Kirk's pet or anything dying, IMO.

If Ausiello already knows Lorelai's first step into the diner will be "big" it should take place during the next 3 episodes or he is just as crazy us some of us and want it to be big. I don't really care as long as she even sets foot into Luke's again.

After he reads the letter and gets into a fight with Lorelai, Chris stomps outside and kicks the crap out of Pierpont.

Anyway, why all the argument about wether or not Luke is a father figure to Rory? I agree with the previous poster that father figure is not like saying he replaced her father in any way. Gee. She was a kid, he was a grown man, he cared about her and was around, therefor he was a father figure.
Not every man that shows a kid kindness is a father figure.

To me it's another example of how people get all cranky and defensive when they think precious Chris is being attacked. If Chris wasn't so lame he wouldn't need such a dilegent defence all the time. It is very obvious, especially in the R&E wedding episode and in the 21st birthday and the highschool grad episode etc etc that Luke always had a special soft spot for Rory.
To me, it's not about Chris at all. It's about Rory. I don't want them manipulating her into someone who places Luke above her own family in terms of who she has turned to and looked to for love, attention, support, and advice. It's just not supported by the show at all.

Quote:
Was Lorelai asked to give a character reference?
Lorelai being there, showing that Rory had a concerned and loving mother, would have been a character reference.

Quote:
What the judge refused to do was make allowances for Rory's actions -- she didn't care who Rory was, or who her family was, that rich or not, there were consequences for commiting a crime. The judgement imposed probably wasn't any tougher than anyone else in Rory's position would've received from that judge, and the judge wasn't about to let it be any less tough either. I doubt Lorelai telling that particular judge that Rory wasn't rich and privileged would've had any bearing on the outcome.
The judge wasn't about not making allowances. She blatantly said that because Rory was of the privileged class -- raised in wealth and privilege -- the judge was going to make sure Rory didn't get away with anything and, in fact, gave her a harder sentence. This was not only bad judgment since it had nothing to do with anything, but was untrue! Would Lorelai have sat there and let the judge believe that Rory was raised to expect to get away with commiting crimes? Would she have allowed the judge to labor under the lie that Rory had been a child of privilege?Frankly, I wonder why the lawyer didn't object. Oh ... because the lawyer didn't know and was too busy fighting with Richard. Rory, not only got a raw deal from the judge but inept representation, so clearly she deserved the sentence she got for being incredibly stupid!

Quote:
Now that's a good question. And something I've never seen debated here. If Emily and Richard wouldn't sink so low as to use their social status and money to get Rory off, does that mean Logan/Mitchum did?
I think they felt they were getting the best lawyer their money could buy, but obviously they got someone who didn't have a clue and knew nothing at all about Rory, including her real name. They thought it would be a slam dunk. No one listened to Logan who out-and-out said that his family had lawyers who had gotten him out of previous scrapes and knew what they were doing. It wasn't just the money but the expertise. But nobody would listen to him, including Rory.

Quote:
LORELAI: You know, like a bunch of selfish rich kids, the children of entitlement, blowing off school. Drinking for days. Spending thousands on a stupid and potentially dangerous stunt, knowing full well that they're not going to get in trouble, 'cause Daddy is important. They're all the same.
And, that view of "rich kids" turned around and bit Lorelai's daughter on the a$$ because Lorelai wouldn't show up in Court to show the Court that it was not so. Just as she was bitten on the butt by her father giving her that money he invested for her, leaving her without any ability to get financial aid for her daughter. Do you think Logan's parents should be as stupid and unsupportive as Lorelai was being to Rory at that time?

Quote:
An oversight no doubt. Surely neither Rory nor Emily would've been sooo rude as to purposely exclude Luke. At least he brought a gift.
But, if she thought of him as a father figure, she definitely would have invited him as well.

Nothing on this board rates being titled "a sinister agenda".

Quote:
Why even bother to watch the show? lol

On second thoughts - hey, why not write our own version of events. I've got my little list of storylines ready
I think we've already read them.

Quote:
I find that more admirable than giving some rich kid a free pass, just because daddy is rich and influential.
But this very thing ended up happening, i.e., Logan got off and Rory, who was misrepresented, got the harder sentence. So, it was an injustice.

Quote:
And I don't see Luke going along with that. He'd insist that Logan take payment for it, and he'd find a way to make sure he did. If Logan tried to refuse payment at the time, Luke would've refused to take the gift, and I believe if Luke insisted on paying for it, Logan would respect that and take his money.
When in the world did this happen?

Excuse me, but that doesn't make any sense, really. Why should a guy hold off on giving his sweetheart a Valentine's Day gift just because another guy forgot to get something for his girlfriend? That just doesn't compute in the Guysville Computer.

No one cares about a finny death as suggestion

Still I’m curious how exactly Luke will be able to help Emily. It was mentioned before that he would run some errands for her, but what exactly?

Why not wait? It wasn't Valentine's Day yet.

Sounds to be like it's going to be Pepe or the other chow that croaks. As for when Lorelai goes back to the diner, I hope they make it into something special, not just another "non-moment" of a very non-moment season. My ideal? Lorelai sitting in her kitchen, alone, looking at a bowl of healthy cereal left over from when Chrisss was there, has a "What the heck am I doing?" moment and sails over to the diner for pancakes and a cup of joe a la Luke.
