Oh wow, I never knew that, as I'm new to the boards. Interesting. I guess ASP was a little nuts herself in season 6...should've have remembered that. Still, I cannot and will not support this whole Marty twist. It's just SILLY.

Euro folks, do you know the saying; "Lean back and think of England"? If so, then, this I'd Rather Be In Philadelphia, is the American equivalent. For a more recent usage of this term that is not connected to a child hating bore. Watch DIE HARD. Apparently, whatever happens to Richard is so bad, that the Gilmores would rather be in Philly instead of in a hospital.

I just want to say that Philadelphia's image has come a long way since WC Field's snark. And even though it is a negative connotation, I am still happy that my city is forever linked to the episode that Lorelai dumps Chris

It's always fun when your hometown gets recognition. I've never actually been to Philly, only on the outskirts. So I can't really say much of anything about your city.
Is it in Philly that has some sort of popular fruity ice desert? Water ice? Am I even close?

ITA. I don't think there's ever going to be a reference to Jess and him being in Philly. Not to mention a Jess/Logan/Rory triangle. The only triangle could be btw Rory, Logan and the TA. I virtual triangle, with Rory just having a crush on him. Maybe she'll question her future (journalist vs other choices) and the crush for the TA will spice up things a little.
It sounds more like a joke - I can see Lorelai telling this as an answer to "how are things going" or something like that.

Yes! Specifically, Italian Water Ice! All different flavors, incl fruit and my favorite, mint chocolate chip. It's icier than gelato but smoother than an Icee. And it's mandatory during those infamous hot and humid summer days here.
