Craig, **** BLAME. This should not be about Chris being blamed for anything. This should be Lorelai realizing something a bit late in the game, that makes her realize Chris is not her IT person. They just did not work. You want to salt the earth with them in order to make LUKE AND LORELAI STAND TRIUMPH via their own MICHAEL BAY SHOT. However, I do not feel that nor want to see it, I simply want Lorelai and Chris to part ways. For their to be a realization, a confrontation, and a denullment afterwards. It did not work out. It should not need to be compared to any other of Lorelai's relationship. On it's own. It failed. That should be enough. Also, yes Craig, marriages have ended because someone was not at the right place at the right time. People can be petty, but this is a big event in Lorelai's life. Messing out on it because of some nonsense. Well, that's happenstance, and it happens everyday. To deny it it's rightful place in Gilmore Girls. Is to make Gilmore Girls a very different show, then it has been written to be.

That aside; Craig, Rory has grown up. She has a life at YALE. It's her school. She has friends there. Logan might not be there, but it does not mean she is alone. Kids grow apart. Even freakishly close mothers and daughters with bonds. However, much like the force, the bond will always be there between Sr. and Jr. No matter where they reside or wherever on earth they shall be.

I totally agree. It's a Christmas miracle .

First off, Luke does not need to be there for her in ep. 13, he has no obligation to support her, Rory or Emily. And in Lorelai's mind, she might think that he wouldn't even want to be near her and speak to her if he had the option. Yet he is. So that'll speak volumes to her.

IMO, Lorelai doubted Luke's love for her and how much he cared about her. So again, seeing that he does indeed care about her still, when he has no reason to do so will be huge.
So true Katie, and she'll realize this about Luke at the same time she is seeing Chris as the person he really is, not the man she turned him into in order to justify sleeping with him and marrying him. No matter how hard she tried, Chris is NOT Luke.

Jason so maybe the "It didn't work" comes before ep 13? I did spec that maybe Chris leaves early in the ep and Lorelai can't contact him so is not blaming him for not being there but the fight in general and not being able to contact him. So I get your point that it might not be about not being at that place at that time but something more general.

As for Rory, then what was the point of Yale and not Harvard, just to please Richard?

Nadine might be able to answer this if she is around, but I seam to remember something from ASP about the reason for the change was to have Rory in Stars Hollow more since Yale is closer to the fictional town than Harvard in Boston.

I didn't think that she looked like she was enjoying herself last year. However, this year, she seems to be having lots of fun. I know that I have enjoyed her on screen far more this season than last and even into the end of season 5. I guess that I'm just happy to take what I can get. I don't enjoy her as much in dramatic scenes. I feel like her strength is the more comedic, fun stuff and I'm glad they have been giving her that stuff this season. I feel like she has really shone this season because they have given her more of a balance of the funny and serious stuff. Sure, she doesn't have much of a SL, but really as a RL fan, do you really want that? Look at what they've done to Lorelai.
Have to choose between no SL at all or a crap one for Rory is a no-win situation. It's not the kind of question that a fan likes to answer.

I sure want a real sl for Rory and wish a good one. And I guess other charatcers fans who have been enduring crap SLs are wishing better ones, no to have their favourite characters just kicked out of the screen as a solution.

It's a contrivance. We'll just see how laughable it's going to be -- the reasoning behind him being there and the way people begin to act.

Which, I'll bet, won't be the person we'll see in 7.13, but anything to get Lorelai and Luke back together.

The reason was simply a matter of show logistics. ASP wanted to continue to have Rory-Lorelai scenes and "family dinner" scenes, and realistically, how was that going to happen with Rory in Boston? Since Yale is apparently about 35-40 mins from the fictional SH by car, by having Rory in Yale, they could have her go to the CS on weekends and such to "do her laundry", etc.

Wearing a candy striper's outfit and doing community service for the fight, rich boy got off!

That's what I thought.

The biggest mystery in regards to this episode is why Luke is at the hospital. It seems too early for Lane to be giving birth (not that sticking to correct timelines has ever been a matter of real concern to the GG writers.) But why would Lane give birth all the way there in New Haven? (Assuming the collapse occurs in Yale.) The most logical spec I can think of is that there is a Luke-Lorelai scene occuring in 7.12 when Lorelai receives a call from Rory (or perhaps Emily) re: Richard's collapse.

The scenario I have in my mind has him not knowing because he's off sulking. His reaction to her generosity makes him not know. So his actions still cause it. But I'm with Jason, I have no idea how anyone could want Chris to know how ill Richard is and just say screw all of you, I'm pissed @ Lorelai and not show up.

That's not selfish, that's not clueless, that's malicious. Chris has been a lot of things, some good, a lot not great, but he's never been that.

And for Lorelai to then decide she doesn't want to be with him, and appreciate Luke, just feeds her selfishness. This should be an emotional choice, not one fed by who can cater to her whims, needs and wishes best.

The only thing Chris can be blamed for Lorelai has given him a full pass on. His lack of effort at being Rory's father. The rest of it, everything this season, those are Lorelai's decisions and Chris isn't culpable for them. Her epiphany needs to be about HER and that SHE's made wrong decisions. Not that Chris/Luke are bad/good guys.

I'm surprised that people think it's okay to walk through life acting like you don't have to do your best anymore because you've already gotten yours!
I never said she wasn't turning in her best performance, but merely saying that she is an actress given a part and why should she care what part she is given to play as long as she is happy with the hours she has to work? She, as an actress, may be happy with her role and thus doesn't care. You are assuming that she isn't happy, just because you aren't, and should be demanding more time and a "better" storyline.

Since when has logic played a part in GG?

Lane is "Lane is very pregnant and is irritable, particularly at the customers." pregnant in ep 11 according to the stuff from that eBay sale so 2 eps later she could be ready to pop, can't twin come early anyway?

As for location we that tough, maybe Mrs Kim wants Lane to have the best and that's in New Haven? Or if Richard has been moved to a different/better hospital?

I suspect it will be as laughable as the reason why he was at the hospital in F&S.

IA Shanti. How do we know she isn't happy with her decreased storyline? From everything I've read about the cast coming back, it's always Alexis who is the least enthusiastic. And hey, at least she can sleep more between her scenes now.

If they make the reason Luke is helping Emily and at the hospital in IRBIP half as good as in F&S it will be much better than the stuff we have been getting lately!

ITA that it's not a bad guy/good guy thing. I've always felt that way. I've always liked Chris (up until the writers wrote in the uber-creepy bed scene in MF), I've just never felt like he and Lorelai were meant to be anything more than high school sweethearts. But I disagree that the only thing Chris is to blame for is his absence in Rory's life. I know none of us will ever know what happened in Chris' apartment in Partings, but I know that a respectable guy would have stopped Lorelai from doing something she would regret, especially fresh off a broken engagement. If Chris had truly cared about Lorelai, he would've stopped her from sleeping with him at all costs. But, that's just my opinion.

Amen! Here's to hoping DR watches F&S over and over and over and over before finalizing IRBIP...
