I don't like Logan with Rory, but I think MC is good and wonder if the CW would want to spin him off. I think he's got what it takes to have his own show as Logan.

And Paris would be great in her own show. Paris as a medical student and working in a hospital? Awesome.
Cannibalize GG and you get five different, new shows -- very few of which I'd watch.

Hey, how about this one. LG and AB both leave and you start all over again with a show focused on a *single* father, Luke, and his daughter, April, instead of a single mother, Lorelai, and her daughter, Rory.

And personally I would prefer that this be the final season. Especially in light of how many opportunities they're already forgoing that are avaliable for Rory currently.
You've got that right. They've given her so little to do this season in order to shoehorn the separate Luke plots in.

No stones please.....(ducking, just in case)...Situationally, Rory would be relatively easy to write out for a season. She is young, just graduating from Yale. If she were to take a position as a foreign correspondent somewhere. It would actually make sense for her to be out and doing her own thing. I am not suggesting that she wouldn't be missed, but that actually could be written into the story...how much Lorelai and Emily miss her, how they deal with eachother with the Rory buffer etc...But it is true you would lose Logan and Paris.

However, I would suggest that the show could absolutely not go on without Lorelai and Emily. Theirs is the relationship that has the most baggage and needs the most attention to repair.

What about giving AB less episodes in a season (if she is tired of the show that is)? Perhaps 13 or so. That would give her a chance to have a lot more time off. If the character of Rory was to become a foreign correspondent she could easily be out of reach for an episode or two or possibly only available for a phone call. And that way the characters of Logan or Paris wouldn't have to be lost. Rory could still have a major plot, but with less screen time -- if that is what AB wants.

Personally I don't like the idea of Gilmore Girls without both girls on a full time basis, but I'm sure there are ways to compensate for something like this.

Actually, it's Christopher's A-storyline they had to shoehorn in.

The diner has been central to the show since the Pilot.

Who becomes a foreign correspondent straight out of college, especially with Rory's professional background?

I was thinking about why couldn't AB's contract be shorter this year? I'd get that if she's out, that's it, no more show, imo. But would it be possible to sign AB up for 15 eps if she wants less hours or something? Fill the time with Lane or someone else? I'd hate it, but it could work if the CW really wants GG back again.

Imo, the CW will want GG back, it's its third highest show and a great lead in if they don't keep VM and have new shows. I just can hope that if they decide to continue that they can get both of the girls in.

And if Sally Struthers was talking about AB and/or LG, I really can't even see DR going with it. He's always said that the decision for next year will come down to the girls coming back. Just that makes me think that maybe she's not talking about the girls, but no one else would cause such a huge change...

If not a foreign correspondent, maybe she is interning somewhere overseas. Or she could move to London to live with Logan. Yes, Logan has moved to the city, but that doesn't rule out his having to return to Europe. There are definitely ways to write in Rory's ambitions of travelling and seeing the world to allow the character to have less screentime, thus giving AB some extra free time.

Exactly. Rory will have to start somewhere near the bottom and work her way up. Most people in any field don't go straight to the top right after college.

He only has a A-SL, because he's with Lorelai. Actually it's Lorelai's A-SL not his.

The diner had been central, yes, but with the girls being a part of it.

If she were truly the editor of the school newspaper of one of the elite Ivy league universities and had significant connections as she does, she would be able to find a job as a foreign correspondent.

However, the plausibility of her job possibilities is not really in question. It just a matter of their relative positions in life. Emily is settled and would probably not be moving around. Lorelai will be newly married or getting married soon (if there were to be a season 8) and unlikely to move. Rory, however, should be striking out on her own, that is one of the defining priciples of Rory...she wanted to be be a journalist, travelling the world, writing about the things she saw.

"Christopher's" A storyline has been Lorelai's A storyline. Are you suggesting Lorelai shouldn't have one? The hierarchy of storylines right now are Lorelai (and her Christopher situation), Luke (Anna and April) and pulling up last, Rory (and Logan and her "professional" concerns.)

AB has enough power she can dictate how and when she wants to work. So I can see the CW/WB agreeing to whatever she wants to do just to get the show back. That means a few eps, half a season or "special guest start" status. Dr said that he could end the season in a way that could be a series finale or segue into another season logically. Rory going off to grad school would fit that scenerio smoothly.

Since almost all of Chris's scenes are with Lorelai he's not taking up extra time.

I agree that she's the one not coming back to Stars Hollow. She's was never intended to but she sure ain't going to become a foreign correspondent straight out of college, Yale editor-in-chief or not. That's a really competitive field and there are tons of reporters with far more experience and "street cred" than she has.

No one's talking about the "diner" sl, rather about Luke and his LLD sl that's taking up too much screentime.
